It was inevitable but in this I feel very sorry for his siblings and daughters.

I was there and standing across the street from the guy who did the shouting. The crowds had fallen silent as the procession came along so you heard him very clearly and it just felt very inappropriate and awkward. There was a lot of tutting. The general feeling and reaction from the people around us was that he was an idiot and an embarrassment to Scotland. Other people in the crowd immediately started a chant of God save the King to drown out the idiot heckling before he was taken away. At the end of the day I feel it was entirely unnecessary and unacceptable to shout things, out of respect for the family and person who has passed regardless of whether they're Royal or not, but also that Andrew could have just stayed in the car and maybe went in a side door of the Cathedral.

Could you refuse the money?
I couldn't. it would be life changing and I've already been raped. why not get something out of it?
he is a prince and can afford to pay a team of lawyers. She is a normal person and if she refused the money he may have got off Scott free anyway thanks to that money.

Those are all good reasons for her to settle, even if he was guilty (and I don’t cast judgement on her in any way). But he also had good reasons to settle, even if he was innocent. All I’m saying is that you can’t infer anything from the fact there was a settlement. It tells you nothing about guilt/innocence.

How embarrassing - and in Scotland of all places.

As an aside, we are always saying that the only way to fight VAWG is if men step up too and condemn shit behaviour. This young lad did exactly that - he should be applauded!

Exactly!

He should . And he is .

Yes! 👏👏 👏

Being in the RF, if you buy into all that, is supposed to be a life of duty and service. The ideology is that they’re held to higher standards than us plebs. That they wouldn’t ever be in a position to be paying off anyone because they wouldn’t regularly attend sex parties, you know…

He is naive to expect to walk down the middle of a public highway in a public cortège unchallenged if he’s forfeited the privilege by shirking the duty.

Heckling isn’t ideal but we got past ideal what, twenty years ago when he added Epstein to his contacts list.

Yes but this is the man who thought he gave a good interview regarding his involvement with Epstein ,hes very arrogant and believes he is above being reproached.

Shouting at a person walking in the procession does not disrespect the Queen. It just doesn’t.

Oh but it does @Facecream

The procession was FOR the Queen who was in her coffin

The entire procession both in Scotland and England this week is about showing respect for her. Anyone going to show their respects to her coffin, in its restring places, has to wear appropriate clothes, not talk, and be respectful. The decorum should apply to her coffin being transported along the road.

Anyone with an ounce of sensitivity would understand it was just not the done thing.

Novella4 · 12/09/2022 19:49

@doublethelove
The crowd was self self selecting and is hardly an accurate barometer of most people's views .

Is is a state event , the royals use these to shore up support ( bread and circuses )
They allowed Andrew to be part of that state event .

ThickCutSteakChips · 12/09/2022 19:49

I think the police pulled that kid out of the crowd like that for his own safety. He was still assaulted by another member of the public and I think had the police not intervened in that way he would have got seven shades of shit kicked out of him.

Scary really.....

I agree that some of the posts on here could be seen as libellous, I'm surprised MN has let them stand actually.

Andrew is finally having to face the consequences of his actions in a very public and undignified way, and also has to live with the fact that he is hurting his own family in the process.

Good.

AuntyDorisMum · 12/09/2022 19:51

Yeah, like people are going to be forced, just forced, to queue for 5 miles in London to 'shore up support.'

I suppose you'd apply the same "logic" to any state funeral?

MadeWithCare · 12/09/2022 19:52

The Royal family are educated on how to stand, sit, kneel, get in & out of cars, crouch down & get up etc.. from the time they are small.
I don't believe his hand 'accidentally' slipped down to his daughters backside when he was looking at those flowers either.

This is an excellent point, everything they do is about appearances. He must know how that would look.

I mean, you wouldn't even see William stroke Kate's backside in public, let alone grab it!

If he wanted to prove his innocence he should have gone to court. Paying 12 mio to avoid that doesn‘t make ihm look innocent.

WillPowerLite · 12/09/2022 19:53

WTAF. Does anyone think Andrew is a martyr?? I mean, other than Andrew.

And whoever sorted the millions to pay off his victim?

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 12/09/2022 19:53

The procession was FOR the Queen who was in her coffin.

The Queen is the one person who will neither know nor care.

ParkheadParadise · 12/09/2022 19:54

Arnaquer · 12/09/2022 17:35

I'm not surprised, I was a bit taken aback to see him waving and wafting around earlier as if everything about him has been forgotten. He needs to crawl back under his stone.

Me too
He's a fuckin Wanker.
The sooner the prick fucks off the better.

Anyone with more than an ounce of brains would understand that imposing these conditions on people as a condition of being a public space shits all over the right to peaceful protest, and that heckling the sex pest was and will remain an entirely appropriate response.

I she had refused to settle and ended up winning the case, but getting awarded less money that Andrew had offered her she was at risk of having to pay his legal fees from the date that his offer was rejected - on top of her own legal fees.

Once a large financial offer had been made she was literally at risk of financially ruining herself if she didn’t accept it.

And that is how the wealthy can use money to get a result that wouldn’t have been available to ordinary people. Money is both a shield and a weapon.

awaynboilyurheid · 12/09/2022 19:55

I say good for the young man shouting out, he will know now what people think of him He should have gone in a side door He’s the most arrogant man, I remember him recently “ helping” his mother down the aisle in full view of the press hoping obvs to squirm his way back in. The Royal advisors should have thought of this and not allowed him to be present.

WarmChocolateFudgeCake · 12/09/2022 19:57

He didnt swear though he just spoke the truth, "Andrew, you're a sick old man" he could have said so much worse. I think that copper was heavy handed, if he'd have hit his head being dragged backwards like that he could have killed him.

MadeWithCare · 12/09/2022 19:57

DeLaLune2022 · 12/09/2022 19:52

I understand that he'd want to settle, but no one settles for £12m unless there's a depth of evidence against them. PA will have had the best lawyers/negotiators in the world putting this deal together. If the evidence was scant and the liklihood of him winning in court high, the victim would have settled for much less.

Heckling a funeral procession is disgusting

fatgirlslimmer · 12/09/2022 19:59

It was not a funeral it was a public procession for a queen who fully supported him. The RF have already been embarrassed by his actions, one heckler won’t make a difference.

Raping trafficked women is disgusting, as is standing by your relative who has done that.

zen1 · 12/09/2022 20:00

Andrew seems to be enjoying being back in the public eye. Makes me feel sick to see him.

It was no funeral. And abusing trafficked young women is a little more disgusting.
