King Charles' skin not looking healthy

I've just seen this picture on BBC News of the King shaking hands with Liz Truss.

Do you think his skin looks a bit inflamed? I hope he's not unwell.

He’s a smoker isn’t he? That, plus his age and poor circulation is to be expected.

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2022 09:29

So are we now being asked to speculate on the King’s health? Right.
He doesn’t look any different than normal to me.

NashvilleQueen · 11/09/2022 09:29

His hands have looked like this for years. Google some images. It's often remarked upon.

Absolutely not a smoker. he hates them. he tried one age 11 and then quit forever. He is evangelical in his hatred of cigarettes

EachandEveryone · 11/09/2022 09:30

I thought he was anti smoking and it was Camilla that smoked?

Bestcatmum · 11/09/2022 09:30

He's 73 years old! He looks perfectly normal for his age and he is outside a lot so he's going to be showing some sun damage like all of us.

Ah, I didn't know that. Glad it's a known thing!

I thought this was going to be about a dog.

Teddletime · 11/09/2022 09:33

Camilla was a smoker and Harry was a smoker. I don't know if they still are.
Famously, King George VI was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer in his fifties. Queen Elizabeth made it a condition when she married Philip that he would stop smoking (which he did)
Smoking is banned in all the Royal Palaces

sidewayswalking · 11/09/2022 09:34

Fuck sake. Let's at least get past the funeral first!

Like mange or something? 😁

You thought right!

Afterfire · 11/09/2022 09:35

Most people in their 70s will have hands like this. The skin is thinner as we age, it shows a lot more colour / veins / blotches etc.

Teddletime · 11/09/2022 09:35

According to Social Media, Prince Harry, Prince Eugenie and Camilla were the family smokers but they may well have stopped

NCHammer2022 · 11/09/2022 09:37

He’s 73. He’s had big sausage fingers for ages.

GreenManalishi · 11/09/2022 09:37

He's 73 years old, he'd have retired 8 years ago if he was not one of the chosen few! Definitely not a spring chicken, have a look at some other old mens hands for reference.

(Would have been far more cost effective to go straight for William so we don't have all this palaver again in a couple of years.)

Summerhouse2013 · 11/09/2022 09:39

Definitely not a smoker, but a regular drinker. Know someone who works at the Naval College in Dartmouth who has met his many times, he is well known to have a large tumbler of whisky most of the times. If you look at his cheeks you can see the ruddiness.

He did have lung cancer, but I think he actually died of a cardiac arrest (he had quite a few smoking-related illnesses).

PAFMO · 11/09/2022 09:39

He's 73, spent more time on horses in cold, wet UK weather than inside.
He probably doesn't moisturize.

Love the faux concern though.

It has been remarked on before but I did notice it too in that photo in the DM.
They are very puffy and red.
High blood pressure ?

I felt sorry for him yesterday when signing - some idiot person put the inkwell underneath the paper he had to sign instead of putting it above. The table was too small and items had to be removed. His big moment - and it was a wee bit spoiled.
He was definitely irritated. Was that a "f*ck" he mouthed ?

Showmethebagels · 11/09/2022 09:44

Every time a headline pops up in my phone starting King Charles III…I read it as King Charles ILL…🤣

watcherintherye · 11/09/2022 09:45

Liz Truss needs to make sure she’s not Vit D deficient. She hasn’t seen much of the sun lately, going by that arm.

After he laughed and gesticulated at the pots being in the way?
Not unless he pronounces it "feeeeeks"

Technically everyone dies of a cardiac arrest 🤷‍♀️
