King Charles' skin not looking healthy

I've just seen this picture on BBC News of the King shaking hands with Liz Truss.

Do you think his skin looks a bit inflamed? I hope he's not unwell.

My dad's the same age and his skin looks pretty much the same. He's fit and healthy for his age and very outdoorsy, but does suffer from arthritis in his hands.

Chikapu · 11/09/2022 10:41

Don't you think he looks tired everyone?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/09/2022 10:43

I blame Liz Truss. Whatever you do, don't shake hands with her.

Your Mum dying a few days ago and becoming King does that to you.

Whynobreadpudding · 11/09/2022 10:52

Liz Truss looks deathly pale.

Florenz · 11/09/2022 10:56

I do not think Charles will live as long as his mother or grandmother. I think we'll be lucky to get 10 years out of him.

LadyEloise1 · 11/09/2022 10:57

@Arenanewbie
I'm glad you saw what I did too.
I didn't watch all of it so missed the Camilla bit.

x2boys · 11/09/2022 11:00

He's 73 ,his mums just died ,and he's been doing all the ceremonial stuff over the past couple of days ,is it any wonder he's not looking tip top?

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/09/2022 11:00

Rosacea is an autoimmune condition - drinking alcohol can make the redness flare up, but it's not the cause and as a rosacea sufferer I wish people would stop making the assumption that those of us who have it are big drinkers!

According to Social Media, Prince Harry, Prince Eugenie and Camilla were the family smokers but they may well have stopped

And Catherine

I thought this was going to be about a dog.

I keep sticking 'spaniel' after King Charles- it's very disconcerting...

Don't you think he looks tired everyone?

To be fair he's just had a few very hectic and stressful days, having just lost his mum with no time to just sit and think. Of course he's tired.

Don't you think he looks tired everyone?

His mum died on Thursday and he's just been made King so I imagine he probably isn't sleeping that well.

Chikapu · 11/09/2022 11:15

It's what Doctor Who whispers about the prime minister to bring her down, it's a little dig at people trying to make an issue out of his health so that other people start to question whether he's fit to rule.

Sparklingbrook · 11/09/2022 11:19

What has Doctor Who got to do with all this?

MarshaMelrose · 11/09/2022 11:21

He's only just got to be king and already they ruined his big moment by giving him a tiny, cluttered table to sign his accession document on and now people are saying he's dying of swollen fingers.
He must wonder why he bothered. He could be hand feeding that squirrel in his study! 🐿

It's about starting threads with faux concern for someone's health. I hope he isn't unwell sounds very much like 'don't you think she looks tired' to me in getting people to question if someone is fit for the job.

Liz Truss needs to make sure she’s not Vit D deficient. She hasn’t seen much of the sun lately, going by that arm.

Some of us are just that colour Grin < looks at pale blue skin >

MumBoot2022 · 11/09/2022 11:30

@dudsville

Glad it’s not just me!! Every time the tv says ‘King Charles’ the bloody word “spaniel” comes out of my mouth!!

Still don't get the Dr Who reference, but I have never watched it.

Mxflamingnoravera · 11/09/2022 11:31

He has sausage fingers.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/09/2022 11:36

Mxflamingnoravera · 11/09/2022 11:31

He has sausage fingers.

Yes, that's how Dactylitis is commonly described.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 11/09/2022 11:38

The Dr Who reference is when they had a female Prime Minister in the prog who was doing a good job, so the people who didn't like having a female PM had no group for criticising her, so they put a little seed of doubt in people's minds about her health, commenting that she looked tired, ie. was ill and couldn't handle the job any more. It was very cleverly done.

KvotheTheBloodless · 11/09/2022 11:40

The most common reason for flushed skin is rosacea, and the oedema in his hands is most likely to be arthritis.

There are other, less common, causes, but since he seems fit and well it's probably not a serious problem.
