King Charles' skin not looking healthy

I've just seen this picture on BBC News of the King shaking hands with Liz Truss.

Do you think his skin looks a bit inflamed? I hope he's not unwell.

so they put a little seed of doubt in people's minds about her health, commenting that she looked tired, ie. was ill and couldn't handle the job any more. It was very cleverly done.

If that is OP's intent it's fairly pointless since none of us get any say who is head of state and his fitness for the 'job' is irrelevant.

Between the recordings of his adultery, cash for honours and the improper letters to ministers I think being in his 70s and a drinker is pretty low down the list.

He did have lung cancer, but I think he actually died of a cardiac arrest (he had quite a few smoking-related illnesses).

He most certainly did die of lung cancer. His doctors had removed his right lung only a few months before, but they never told anyone ( not even the King) that he had cancer. He still had all the symptoms of cancer after the operation so it is assumed that the cancer had spread. When he died, his doctors said that he'd died of a heart attack ( no doubt because they'd never mentioned cancer to anyone) but it is obvious now that his cancer killed him.

There have been predictions that Charles might only manage 3-4 years as king. But I guess we will see!

This looks like a still from a Twilight movie.

Don't you think he looks tired everyone?

Is that a reference to Harriet Jones :)

The Dr Who reference is when they had a female Prime Minister in the prog who was doing a good job, so the people who didn't like having a female PM had no group for criticising her, so they put a little seed of doubt in people's minds about her health, commenting that she looked tired, ie. was ill and couldn't handle the job any more. It was very cleverly done.

It was actually because she'd blown up some aliens when they were retreating and the Doctor wasn't impressed and said he'd bring her down. And he did.

Although as it transpired in later episodes, you should be careful what you wish for.

rnsaslkih · 11/09/2022 16:35

He's 73, almost 74. Plenty of people are dead by then, loads have illnesses whether mild or severe. I'm sure he has the very best medical care.

Most people in their 70s will have hands like this. The skin is thinner as we age, it shows a lot more colour / veins / blotches etc.

Not just the skin though, his hands & fingers are swollen.

Technically everyone dies of a cardiac arrest 🤷‍♀️

Okay, if we're being pedantic, a heart attack caused by a blood clot in a vessel leading to the heart.

Regardless, it wasn't directly the lung cancer.

I blame Liz Truss. Whatever you do, don't shake hands with her.

Too right
I agree that his hands look pink in comparison to Liz truss vampire hands
Also queen herself had quite sausage fingers so poss genetic

BlueThingie · 11/09/2022 16:51

Dactylitis maybe caused by arthritis. He’s had it for years and often remarks on it himself.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/09/2022 16:58

It looks like she's gripping a bit tight!

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 11/09/2022 16:58

I was also thinking this op and have done for some time. He has a very florid complexion, which he didn’t have when he was younger, I assumed blood pressure issues, gout, arthritis I’d be surprised if it was life threatening but I do think he has some health issues, yes, his face often looks purple too. I reckon he’s also a bit of a drinker.

User642986540 · 11/09/2022 17:01

A lot of people in their 70s don't look too fresh in their complexion and generally have a few things wrong with them so I doubt the King is any different.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 17:12

I guess the longer he lasts the more he saves the Wale's children from that sheer intensity.

FolornLawn · 11/09/2022 17:22

If something was in his way surely the normal thing to do would be to ask for it to be moved? I’d never dream of flapping at someone who worked with me like that.

Still don't get the Dr Who reference, but I have never watched it.

That’s probably why then isn’t it? Probably deducible from the first time you asked

Okay, sounds like there's still dispute over the cause of death...

He’s a smoker isn’t he? That, plus his age and poor circulation is to be expected.

No. He’s not a smoker. He detests it as a habit and it was a bone of contention between him and Camilla as she was/is a smoker.

sunshinesupermum · 11/09/2022 17:39

Those puffy hands and fingers are signs of gout.

Sceptre86 · 11/09/2022 17:43

Gout?

Camilla eventually packed it in at Charles's behest. Though, I can see her having a sneaky one now and then and sucking frantically on a mint afterwards.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 11/09/2022 18:27

He does look very Hanoverian.

BloodyHellKen · 11/09/2022 18:29

Based on that pic I'd be more worried about the health of Liz Truss. I've seen a healthier looking corpse 😂
