King Charles' skin not looking healthy

I've just seen this picture on BBC News of the King shaking hands with Liz Truss.

Do you think his skin looks a bit inflamed? I hope he's not unwell.

Don't you think he looks tired everyone?

Gosh - can't imagine why?

FFS everyone, just give it a rest.

Most people on MN would need to get signed off work for weeks with stress after a quarter of what he's just been through.

So many of you are rubbing your (no doubt perfectly formed) hands in glee that you might have "spotted something".

When the Queen was dying it seemed that everyone had a relative in a (imaginary) top secret job, now Charles is King you are all doctors.

People are tying themselves in knots of panic about how any normal human could manage a 6 hour car journey without 45 rest stops and are ooh-ing and aah-ing in wonderment about the fact that Scotland is actually a beautiful place.

antelopevalley · 11/09/2022 19:09

He has not looked well for years although the Royalists always deny it.
His job is not exactly taxing, so he will be fine.

This. I noticed his nose is red like that of a drinker.

Or someone who has Rosacea.

There are lots of reports of him drinking heavily, just like his granny.

Liz Truss needs to make sure she’s not Vit D deficient. She hasn’t seen much of the sun lately, going by that arm.

She gets her iron and bit D from drinking human blood.

There is nothing wrong with his health. The Royal family only eat organic, don’t smoke, very rarely drink, it’s all pretence that they do at formal occasions. They don’t seek mainstream medicine when ill (unless broken bones etc) but rely on homeopathy and no vaccines for any of them. Anything said on the contrary is smoke and mirrors.

ladydoris · 12/09/2022 05:00

They've been like that for some time OP.

the80sweregreat · 12/09/2022 05:40

I did have a macabre thought that if the new King doesn't make it thorough the next few years we will have all this again. Although I doubt millions will show up for him , I think he won't be as popular as she was.

I do wish people would stop assuming that red face/nose = heavy drinking. It really has nothing to do with it! Drinking does not cause either a red face or red/enlarged nose, and spreading such tripe has a real-life impact on patients dealing with rosacea and/or rhinophyma, both of which are hard enough on people's self esteem without others assuming they're a closet alcoholic.

urbanbuddha · 12/09/2022 06:41

I blame Liz Truss. Whatever you do, don't shake hands with her.

😃

the80sweregreat · 12/09/2022 06:44

Liz Truss has very fair skin, so ( like me) she probably avoids the sun because of fears of burning up! I also suffer with red face syndrome and been told ' you been drinking' when I haven't :(
Olive skinned people have it easier

Ha ha, that’s what dh said too. He reckons she’s maybe slipping them all polonium.

I have olive skin. As does my brother & dc. We all have rosacea. My nose is not small & it lights up like a beacon. I agree It’s not nice when people say we are drinkers. It definitely affects confidence.

And you'd know how, exactly?

UniversalAunt · 12/09/2022 07:40

Likely Charles will serve at least long enough to not be the shortest reigning King, then he might then step down after a few more years or just keep going until his natural end.

William is fit & well with a young family.
He’s had a ‘normal’ working life for a royal so far, now he’s PoW it’ll be 100% working royal? Odds are that he will be King by his fifties.

Hugasauras · 11/09/2022 09:47

He's always had quite pronounced rosacea.

I have often wondered that. I have rosacea and that's often how my skin looks

@Chikapu

Sorry, the reference went over my head as I don't watch Dr Who - not the only one it seems.

My response is still appropriate in relation to almost all of the other posts though.

Those puffy hands and fingers are signs of gout.

Or arthritis. Both are inflammatory conditions which can cause the swelling.
No way to know which without knowing his medical history.

antelopevalley · 12/09/2022 16:32

That kind of arthritis carries with it a real risk of a heart attack or other circulatory issues.

NanaNelly · 12/09/2022 16:53

I’ve been wondering about the men traveling with Charles who carry very large and bulky rucksacks and today when they were boarding the aircraft to Edinburgh I saw a white cross on one of them. I’m assuming the blokes are bodyguards who are medically trained and could administer a high level of care in an emergency.

Antarcticant · 12/09/2022 17:06

It could be food - he only eats organically grown stuff from the Duchy estates, and carts a chef around with him to cook it.

I think food would be uploaded to the hold (where it’s cold) and not kept in the cabin in rucksacks that are so big they must have their own seat.
