She did a sketch with him talking about marmalade sandwiches. She wouldn't have done that if she didn't like him. E enshe came to know him through his two films, it doesn't matter. It's their friendship now that counts. 🙄

Their friendship? It's a fictional bear

MarshaMelrose · 10/09/2022 20:37

Yeah, she definitely didn't like Tony Blair. I think Cherie the contraceptive carrier confirmed that.

phishy · 10/09/2022 20:37

I’m not saying she hated Paddington, just that the sketch was probably dreamt by a PR, she likely had little to do with it.

Have you no soul?!

It was a joke - she didn't actually keep an unwrapped marmalade sandwich in her handbag!

Paddington would have been sent to Rwanda under these Tories

Neither the time nor place for that

MarshaMelrose · 10/09/2022 20:40

Well yes, phishy, I agree she didn't write the script. I'm sure it was something devised to give her some participation in the jubilee that she couldn't attend personally. But it was very lovable and showed her as a fun person to go along with it.

😲 😲 😲 Take that back!!

😁

My friend makes amazing marmalade in the spring to cheer herself up until the warmer weather begins. It's like edible sunshine.

Elderflower14 · 10/09/2022 20:43

I made myself a lovely chocolate cake for my birthday with marmalade...here

It was a lovely sketch, but this manufactured, so called deep bond between PB and QE is weird.

Wombat100 · 10/09/2022 20:44

There are some proper bloody bellends on this thread. The OP posted a sweet tribute to The Queen. If you don’t like it, just scroll by. The amount of people getting their knickers in a twist about one marmalade sandwich is remarkable.

Sparklybutold · 10/09/2022 20:44

@userxx and all the other shite?

Even you can see how wasteful all of it is? If not then you're part of the problem.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 10/09/2022 20:44

I do wonder if people are quite alright. We’ve got posters thinking the Queen has had hunger issues, we’ve got people thinking rotting flowers in plastic is perfectly acceptable and then we’ve got posters using bullying language to shoot down the lone heads poking above the parapet.

It’s interesting that in all the detailed plans about this event there didn’t seem to be anything about a foundation or commemorative fund that people could donate to in lieu of flowers. Monies raised could go to the queen’s charities. Money could be used to buy flowers for the hospice patients she regularly visited ( indeed was last proper engagement in July)

But it suits the RF as there’s nothing more validating to their existence than seeing their subjects pour their Shite and tears all
over the ground in front of a massive palace.

And it suits the general public because there’s nothing we Brits like better than a spot of grief tourism.

Most people did not know her personally. She won’t have touched lives personally for any longer than a minute, for those who “met” the Queen. This grief seems misplaced and hypocritical.

I can be sad for the loss of a woman and for her family. I am
not sad that her role has gone. It’s very problematic to have divine rulers in the 21st century. But we must continue on because tradition.

So much meaningless, twee sentimentality. There’s nothing to say she even read or liked Paddington books.

Apparently she requested it. For the great grandchildren I imagine.

You have saved me a lot of typing. Couldn't agree more!

And she liked me a lot more than she liked that Johnny Come Lately 007 fella.

She certainly preferred her afternoon tea with you 🥪 to being pushed out of that helicopter. 🚁 😄
But she performed both things brilliantly.

Vile.

We have become a nation of emotional incontinents.

TheMoth · 10/09/2022 20:49

Apparently she was a fan of Twin Peaks too. Anyone volunteering to put some cherry pie out? It could be a new tradition: every 8th September, people leave a marmalade sandwich, slice of cherry pie and some Pedigree Chum out.

mamabear715 · 10/09/2022 20:49

@Wombat100 Couldn't have put it better myself. A lovely sweet tribute to our beautiful Queen. Some folk can't even allow that. :-(
