With a note attached saying "For later..." 😢 😢 😢 😢
As a MASSIVE Paddington fan this made me cry more than the taxis lined up in The Mall.... ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I think this is really sweet

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 20:17

I hope you realise @Pumperthepumper that you have about three months to get Christmas banned and made into an ordinary working day. Put your mind to it and you can do it.

userxx · 10/09/2022 20:17

@MolkosTeenageAngst I bet you suck the joy out of every room you enter.

I wonder what kind of marmalade Paddington prefers? Would the queen have had marmalade from Fortnum and Mason or perhaps Waitrose?

My local butcher stocks ‘the’ best (independent) marmalade in existence. If you remember glacier mints and the fruit version - it tastes exactly like the orange ones.

Of course. I have a special little hoover especially for it. But don’t worry, it runs on biofuel.

I like to think it was actually Paddington...

😭❤️🐻

No, you can care about the environment and still celebrate Christmas.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 20:24

And I bet it's an absolute blast round yours.

Paddingtonbearhimself · 10/09/2022 20:25

It was me!

MarshaMelrose · 10/09/2022 20:25

Oh no. I'm crying all over again, now. How lovely.

LoisLane66 · 10/09/2022 20:26

@Elderflower14
That would have undone me too, MUCH more than any other thing. 🥺😢

phishy · 10/09/2022 20:28

So much meaningless, twee sentimentality. There’s nothing to say she even read or liked Paddington books.

Paddingtonbearhimself · 10/09/2022 20:29

And she liked me a lot more than she liked that Johnny Come Lately 007 fella.

toomuchlaundry · 10/09/2022 20:30

I don’t think she would have agreed to do the Paddington sketch if she didn’t like Paddington.

In some cultures people leave food at shines

And in at least one culture they dig their loved one up, dress them in new clothes and I think they may also offer them food.

Maybe the sandwich and broccoli could be recycled that way.

Well, she was too old to have encountered them in childhood, as the first one wasn't published until 1958. But she might have seen her own children or grandchildren enjoying the books; or her great-grandchildren enjoying the recent films. I very much doubt she would have agreed to do the little sketch if she hadn't liked the character.

REP22 · 10/09/2022 20:32

Aww, that's beautiful, and so, so touching.

That Paddington Jubilee sketch really got to me. The people behind the Paddington revamp have done it so well. Always a lovely, decent character who gets on just by being nice and well-intentioned, with no weapon nastier than a hard stare. But he's been realised particularly well for the modern age artistically and in the perfect voice of Ben Whishaw.

The Jubilee sketch where this lovely character said "thank you for everything" was so fitting, then and now.

For later. x

Coopers thick cut
There is no better 😃

I don't think this is cute but wasteful. Within days this will be in landfill. It all seems so wasteful. Why are people so wasteful?

inappropriateraspberry · 10/09/2022 20:34

How ridiculous. Give a loaf of bread to a food bank instead. All this crap outside the palace and elsewhere. So wasteful.

toomuchlaundry · 10/09/2022 20:30

I don’t think she would have agreed to do the Paddington sketch if she didn’t like Paddington.

Of course she would have, it was her job. Just like she will have been to lots of countries she may not have liked or shared hands with lots of people she didn’t like etc as part of her role. It was the jubilee and I doubt she had that much input into what she was going to do to mark it, it no doubt would have been orchestrated by PR people who designed a sketch based on what was popular at the time and what they knew would draw up positive sentiments towards her within the British public. She may or may not have liked Paddington just as she may or may not have liked James Bond and may or may not have liked Boris Johnson, Tony Blair, Donald Trump or anyone else she was obliged to meet or work with as part of her role.

Is hot air considered a biofuel?

It's a marmalade sandwich, not the contents of fucking Asda.

She did a sketch with him talking about marmalade sandwiches. She wouldn't have done that if she didn't like him. E enshe came to know him through his two films, it doesn't matter. It's their friendship now that counts. 🙄

Justgorgeous · 10/09/2022 20:37

The iconic black London taxis lining up on The Mall was a wonderful sight. They did the same for Prince Philip too.
