They could have sliced it. Not very regal looking

But we know from the Jubilee footage that the Queen kept her spare marmalade sandwich unsliced in her handbag, just like that one.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/09/2022 18:09

So sad. 😢And lovely. ❤️

Pumperthepumper · 10/09/2022 18:09

Wrapped in plastic, along with all the other self-indulgent, planet ruining bollocks.

I think the one the queen pulled out her bag was uncut too , I guess it would have been a bit messy all cut up in her bag 🤣

Aw, how lovely!

How lovely- remarkable and unexpected that Paddington Bear and Marmalade sandwiches have become so closely associated with Her Maj!

Someone left broccoli at the palace.

That brocoli is the funniest thing I've seen all day.

Can't work out if it's meant to be respectful or not.

Noentrymeansnoentry · 10/09/2022 18:14

Will it be left to go mouldy and end up in landfill, or will it be given to one of the increasing numbers of people who are relying on food banks because they literally can't afford a loaf of bread? I liked the Queen, but I'm sure everyone at Buckingham Palace can afford to feed themselves. It's shameful to be wasting food, and wasting plastic.

BringOnAutumn · 10/09/2022 18:15

What does the broccoli mean?

And someone has just given Prince William a little PB.... ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

That just sent me over the bloody edge

That’s how I feel. I read the thread and thought ‘that’s ridiculous’ and assumed this would be a thread where the OP was here to say just that. Didn’t realise anybody would actually think this is a nice thing to do, especially in a country where so many are going to be facing food poverty this winter and in a world where around 1600 worldwide die of hunger each day. The country has actually gone mad! If people want to virtue signal they’d be better donating to a food bank or a charity which provides food to countries facing famine etc rather than leaving a plastic wrapped sandwich to decompose on the street in the memory of a woman who lived to a grand old age and likely never experienced a moment of hunger in her life.

inmyslippers · 10/09/2022 18:16

Why's Paddington the grim reaper all of a sudden

upinaballoon · 10/09/2022 18:17

I'm willing to be the hit woman! It's absolutely lovely that someone left the marmalade sandwich. It's been the smile of the summer and autumn.

All I need to top it now is to find out that when four guards stand round the coffin one of them turns out to be Daniel Craig.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 10/09/2022 18:18

I thought I had a heart of stone as I've not been bothered by it all at all. Now I'm sobbing over a marmalade sandwich.

EverydayIsPJday · 10/09/2022 18:18

@MolkosTeenageAngst do take a deep breath.

The actor?

No idea. I saw a picture the other day of Paddington telling the Queen it was time to go the other day. My first thought was WTF happened to poor old Paddington?!

I agree. It’s sickening.

There's some really po-faced people virtue signalling all over this thread aren't there.

I thought it was very sweet. More interesting than flowers!

@MolkosTeenageAngst do take a deep breath.

Would you say that to someone who was worried about how to afford their next meal?

There is no excuse for wasting food. There are many, many ways to show respect to the Queen which don't involve wasting food.

inmyslippers · 10/09/2022 18:23

^^ yes also took one of her corgis over rainbow bridge Like and Egyptian overlord

Lakaot · 10/09/2022 18:23

Food left to rot infront of a palace when we have people using food banks. Lovely.
Its awful for people whenever their family dies including the Queen, but we do need to look at more sustainable things to remember people by and get rid of balloon releases and excessive amounts of flowers or food left to rot etc (and just in general life tbh too)

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 18:23

One marmalade sandwich won't do much to alleviate that. Unclench - assuming you can, of course.

Cornettoninja · 10/09/2022 18:24

there’s a sandwich and head of broccoli going spare if they want it.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 18:25

There's some really po-faced people virtue signalling all over this thread aren't there.

I was on an American site earlier when a few people said how sorry they were to hear about HM. Cur a few people going into a rant about colonialism, genocide, slavery as if HM was solely to blame for several hundred years of history.
