With a note attached saying "For later..." 😢 😢 😢 😢
As a MASSIVE Paddington fan this made me cry more than the taxis lined up in The Mall.... ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

That’s how I feel. I read the thread and thought ‘that’s ridiculous’ and assumed this would be a thread where the OP was here to say just that. Didn’t realise anybody would actually think this is a nice thing to do, especially in a country where so many are going to be facing food poverty this winter and in a world where around 1600 worldwide die of hunger each day. The country has actually gone mad! If people want to virtue signal they’d be better donating to a food bank or a charity which provides food to countries facing famine etc rather than leaving a plastic wrapped sandwich to decompose on the street in the memory of a woman who lived to a grand old age and likely never experienced a moment of hunger in her life.

Agree

I wonder if anyone has left any dog treats?

I expect the current corgis are missing her

And I hope that she has met up with all the others in doggy heaven

That would be sweet. Security would ensure they wouldn't reach the dogs anyway though 😕

HowzAboutIt · 10/09/2022 19:58

What has broccoli got to do with the Queen?

Wenwes · 10/09/2022 19:58

What’s the significance of the broccoli?

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 19:59

JoeyThePrawn · 10/09/2022 19:54

Good God @Pumperthepumper do you suck the joy out of everything ?
Why don’t you start your own thread ?

She does. She wants the state coach melted down too. 😂

FaultybutFabulous · 10/09/2022 19:50

I hope all those complaining about the environmental aspect lead fully green lives with a neutral carbon footprint. No, thought not.

I do the best I can. Do you recycle? Or do you think ‘I don’t live a carbon-neutral life so I won’t bother’?

Pumperthepumper · 10/09/2022 20:00

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 19:59

I do! Or stripped and sold for parts.

ClottedCreamAndStrawberries · 10/09/2022 20:01

🥱 🥱 at the people whinging and virtue signalling over food banks and marmalade sandwiches. Just scroll on if it offends you that much. It’s not as if one marmalade sandwich is going to feed more than one person for one meal anyway 🤷‍♀️

No. But the combined cost of the flowers plus tat that’s been left to rot might have.

LimpBiskit · 10/09/2022 20:03

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 18:51

I'm seriously considering going and laying flowers now, just to piss off the misery guts and joy suckers.

What a mature attitude.

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 20:04

You really are the classic case of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing @Pumperthepumper. People can do what they like with their own money.

Teenagelament · 10/09/2022 18:36

Why a marmalade sandwich? I don't understand

Look up the Queen and Paddington Bear Jubilee. Sketch on YouTube, it’s so sweet. The full length one is about 2.5 mins long.

I’ve just remembered you’re the poster who said they got no benefit from education being funded by the tax payer 🤣🤣🤣

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 20:07

What a mature attitude.

That's me all right. 😝

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/09/2022 20:08

a marmalade sandwich is so lovely.
funny how the press were asking the children about paddington, i loved that scene she did so much and i am not a child!

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 10/09/2022 20:10

Or stripped and sold for parts

Christ, that's hilarious. Parts for what, gold plated rubbish bins in Hyde Park?? 😂

She lived through WWII and rationing. She most definitely did experienced hunger. Even her wedding dress, cake and "banquet" was only possible because her nearest and dearest gave her their ration stamps.

Unless you are over 70, I doubt you can really compare.

It’s true. The taxpayers who paid for mine are all long dead. Meanwhile those who paid for yours got rubbish value for their money.

Literally anything. It’s worth £5 million apparently. Better as a public service than as a chariot they don’t like riding in anyway.

Blossomtoes · 10/09/2022 20:10

Except they also educated the people who help you daily - like your postie, your bin men, your staff, your colleagues, the people who work at your bank, the people in charge of your pension. It’s narrow minded to pretend otherwise, much like pretending food and flowers being left to rot is a good thing.

LondonQueen · 10/09/2022 20:14

❤️

In fairness, not quite true. According to Robert Lacey's biography Majesty, the ration food was supplemented by produce from the Sandringham estate, and she received an extra ration of coupons for clothes plus silk and lace Queen Mary had been keeping.

FaultybutFabulous · 10/09/2022 20:14

I wonder what kind of marmalade Paddington prefers? Would the queen have had marmalade from Fortnum and Mason or perhaps Waitrose?

Cornettoninja · 10/09/2022 20:16

Pumperthepumper · 10/09/2022 20:00

ah right, well if we’re redistributing wealth you’d better start waving goodbye to pretty much everything you have. Just by residing in the UK makes your share of global wealth unequal to the poorest.

Sell whatever equipment you’re using to post and donate it to an area stricken by famine and war. Whilst you’re at it consider the environmental impact of using the internet, servers are wholly environmentally unfriendly and here you are using them just to post your opinion - which is apparently more important that Co2 emissions.
