Put the mobile phones away!

Watching poor Charles, a man who has JUST lost his mother, shaking hands of the great unwashed public, many of who had their bloody mobile phones shoved in his face whilst grinning inanely at him, it really made me cringe.

The Protection officer kept telling them to put their phones down and at one point said " put the phones down , just enjoy the moment" but they just bloody kept on. Shouting and jeering. Ugh. Have done decorum people for goodness sake 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄

I had to turn it off.
Im not sure that grinning at people and shaking hands is the best thing to do when your mum has just died.

chipsandpeas · 09/09/2022 14:30

i waiting for the pictures of the coffin all over social media

however id seriously hope phones and cameras were banned

GlitteryFarts · 09/09/2022 14:30

I agree. The hip hip hooray chants were extremely distasteful too. I understand they are aiming it at him but his mother has just died, he doesn't want to be hearing that!

KittenKong · 09/09/2022 14:31

Why can’t the man have some time off for goodness sake.

Iusedtobecarmen · 09/09/2022 14:31

I watching and thinking the same!😡
Some are only there to film, not pay respects. Its such bad taste

TrueNorthernBird · 09/09/2022 14:31

My heart was in my mouth all the way through the walkabout so Lord only knows how the CP team felt.

megacat · 09/09/2022 14:31

I was thinking the same, they were watching the moment through the lense of their cameras instead of even looking at him!

Iusedtobecarmen · 09/09/2022 14:34

One couple really annoyed me. Grinning like you would if you met a celebrity. Then her partner grabbed her phone and filmed.
If you are genuinely there as a mark of respect and get chance to say a few words of condolence, then you don't need your phone to film close up.

biggreenhouse · 09/09/2022 14:38

the cheering and smiling is awful. what is wrong with these people

Reallybadidea · 09/09/2022 14:38

Peasants Grin

nachoavocado · 09/09/2022 14:38

It's so so rude and they just look like idiots

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 09/09/2022 14:42

I thought the same. A woman grabbed him, kissed him and looked far too happy about it. No respect.

CaramelTwirl · 09/09/2022 14:42

Bloody commoners.

AlphaAlpha · 09/09/2022 14:47

Plebeians.

And if you are going to start a round of God save the King - please do sing in tune and not tail off after a few lacklustre lines.

Again, Plebeians.

Very true. And the fact they were asked to put phone away. Id be so embarrassed,
But they just carried on!!!

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 14:49

I was cringing too , especially when that woman kissed his hand .

Mrsjayy · 09/09/2022 14:50

I had to turn it over it was too much the cheering the phones a lone one line of god save the king ! I don't know what is wrong with people

tobee · 09/09/2022 14:54

I thought it was fine. I also thought he looked quite pleased that people were acclaiming him. He's only the King if the people want him to be. It's all the people so you don't get to pick and choose. No one grabbed him for a selfie. They were obviously saying nice things about the Queen too. He chose to get out the car and not be aloof. I'm sure he's used to meeting similar types of people.

tobee · 09/09/2022 14:55

It's also a strange thing anyway; mourning a Queen, celebrating the new King. There's no division between the two.

Relax

MarshaMelrose · 09/09/2022 14:56

Shouting and jeering.

Why were they jeering him? ☹

uhtredbebbanburg · 09/09/2022 14:56

I agree. The poor man has just lost his mum and all those cameras in his face.

Actually you are right people probably didn't know how to react it was all a bit intense for me.

tobee · 09/09/2022 14:56

People are very snooty on this thread. God knows who they think they are. Above the others apparently

snowballer · 09/09/2022 14:56

The phones are awful but I was so glad for him that people turned out and looked genuinely happy to see him. I think he must be filled with dread at the prospect of filling HMQ's shoes. Imagine if only a few people turned up to see him - would have been awful. I hope it gave him a boost.

tobee · 09/09/2022 14:57

He was smiling and so on
