I won a weekend away at a lovely coastal hotel through one of those Facebook competitions once where you just like and share.

It was amazing. Sea view room. Coffee and cookies on arrival. A picnic for a walk. Cocktail making class. Dinner. Wine. Breakfast the next day. Private yoga class. Sunday roast. Parking included.

The hotel made us feel like lottery winners the whole time. It was absolutely incredible.

Only thing I've ever won was Tickets to Live8, the concert in Hyde Park to raise awareness of poverty in developing countries( like a sequel to Liveaid ). It was a text lottery, so tickets were free. I was gobsmacked when I found out I'd won as I'd never won anything, ever! Hardest thing was choosing a friend to come with me as everyone wanted to go. Was a great day, so many brilliant acts, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Pink Floyd etc. Only annoying thing was, the sound and the visuals on the screens were out of sync, so that was a bit discombobulating!

mugcup · 05/09/2022 20:59

@sittingonacornflake oh wow that's sound glorious!!!! You must have near fainted when you realised!!! Xx

KangarooKenny · 05/09/2022 21:01

No.
Had premium bonds for 50 years and never won a penny.

fairgame84 · 05/09/2022 21:03

Not very exciting to most but very exciting to me.

In 1996 I won a years subscription to Sugar magazine.
Then a few years ago I won a chocolate hamper and the following year an m&s Christmas hamper.
Chocolate hamper was the best prize ever!

Pikafuckingwho · 05/09/2022 21:05

I once won a bendy Kermit in the 80s.

Curlyshabtree · 05/09/2022 21:07

I once won a frozen chicken which had started to defrost.

Appalonia · 05/09/2022 21:07

Thinking about that Live8 concert, I had a look on Youtube, as I'd forgotten who played that day. I'm not really a fan of Robbie Williams, but he was so good live. Also, I can't believe it was 2005!!

Crappydoo · 05/09/2022 21:08

edwinbear · 05/09/2022 21:19

DH won £2.5k worth of Penfolds wine. That was pretty epic.

Eminybob · 05/09/2022 21:19

I won a trolley dash for my son around a newly opened Entertainer toy shop and he got to cut the ribbon with the mayor to open it.
He got around £300 worth of toys. He was about 5 I think and it literally made his little life.

Soproudoflionesses · 05/09/2022 21:21

barneymcgroo · 05/09/2022 21:21

I won a case of gin once...

EsmaCannonball · 05/09/2022 21:25

I know someone who won just over £2million on the lottery. He was already fairly comfortably off and he just stuck the money in the bank. He didn't even take a holiday.

I never win anything.

ISeeTheLight · 05/09/2022 21:26

Secondary school raffle, we (the students) had to sell tickets. I forgot/couldn't be bothered so bought the 10 or so tickets I had to sell myself. Won the top prize - a TV. My DM was not best pleased as I wasn't allowed a TV in my bedroom. So it moved into the guest room (and I sneaked in often at nights to watch it).

Aged 5 or so I was chosen as the innocent child to pick a name out of a bowl. I didn't get it and saw the slip with my own name in the bowl. Vividly remember wondering if they were playing a trick on me and whether I would get it right. "Just pick any name". So I picked my own name. Won my parents a load of brandy, shot glasses, various paraphernalia (this was abroad in case anyone wonders). That time my mum was pretty happy.
