I'm the world's most unlucky person but what about you guys? My friend one a kitchen uo to the value of £15k a few years ago and a girl in my town won her dream wedding. What have you won?

Not very exciting to most but very exciting to me.

In 1996 I won a years subscription to Sugar magazine.
Then a few years ago I won a chocolate hamper and the following year an m&s Christmas hamper.
Chocolate hamper was the best prize ever!

Wow, Sugar magazine! That takes me back! I had a subscription to that magazine. Loved picking it up from the local shop.

There was a magazine I read before that, for younger girls… I can’t remember the name, ‘Girl something’? I remember getting a free choker necklace with it and wearing it all the time. The black lace and silver flower charm on it.

I was so excited when I ‘graduated’ to the more grown up Sugar magazine 😆

I won a giant hamper of high end skin care and beauty products in a raffle. The value was $2500. I gave heaps away and still went through two years of lockdown with luxury everything. I'm just on the last few items now.

My secondary school had a very pushy way of selling raffle tickets...everyone was given so many booklets and you had to sell them all, pay the difference or return the booklets in assembly.

I had exhausted my family long ago with sponsorship for bits and bobs so I used the money from my dishwasher job at 13 to buy the lot I had and just put my name on them but with Mrs instead of Miss so no one would know.

As you can guess, one of my tickets came up and I won £100.

Unfortunately NO ONE, including the school, my mother and my entire family believed my story and it became my mother's win. She did buy my some shoes out of it and everyone declared how magnanimous she was. And how cheeky I was to accept them. My own granny accused me of robbing my mum.

Bitter as fuck 30 years later!!!

@whomoon was it girl talk? I also had Miz?

MNCar · 05/09/2022 22:49

NC as it’s so identifiable.

I won a car on munsnet. Yes really. It was 18mths old and I ended up selling it for 6k to a dealer as was only a 3 door.

It meant for the first time I had savings and choices. Life definitely got better since.

Yes! Girl Talk! I just found the edition I got the free necklace too 😆

I read Bliss and Just Seventeen too, but Mizz must’ve passed me by.

I won a years free bowling , I had never won anything before so was pleasantly surprised . It was the most unorganised prize ever thou , they just wrote it on a little business card thing and non of the staff ever knew about it when we went to use it . I got asked if I was a mystery shopper or the new manager once when we turned up for a game 😂

Thisbastardcomputer · 05/09/2022 22:51

This is my luck, I won an iron as a child and a doll as an adult

PrincessOfChina · 05/09/2022 22:53

I’ve changed names as this is outing, but I won a Radio 1 competition in the late 1990’s. Backstage passes, hotel, transport to their first ever “Big Sunday” thing in Cardiff. We met Robbie Williams, got to stand side of stage as he went on, had our Sunday dinner sat with Ash and the Divine Comedy, had a beer and a photo with Cerys Matthews and shared a fag and a few drinks with Chris Moyles. We also got invited to the Manic’s album launch party but we only stayed half an hour as we didn’t like them. I’ve still got left over free beer tokens.

We’d just turned 18 and it remains one of the best things to happen to me.

Sparkles13 · 05/09/2022 22:57

I've only ever one the big prize draw for the cat protection back in the late 90s at a local animal fair.

I was over the moon - never won anything and haven't since. The big prize draw turned out to be a 20 piece collection of cat shaped teapots. At I was a teen at the time I passed them onto my neighbour.

I dream of winning a lottery win!

Proudofeveryone · 05/09/2022 22:58

Went to a charity sports event. In the raffle of 50 prizes I won 3.
First one was dozen eggs as the person was passing to me they dropped on the floor.
Second 2 bottles of wine. lovely.
Third a tray of meat worth about £100. I was that drunk I dropped it as putting in the freezer and the dogs got a nice treat.

2tired2bewitty · 05/09/2022 22:58

In a World Cup year in the 90s I won a complete subuteo set including every team in the competition. Think my little brother appreciated it more than me!

eleanorwish · 05/09/2022 23:00

A beautiful homemade Victoria Sponge in a guess the weight of the cake competition.

Flackattack · 05/09/2022 23:00

I didn’t think I had won anything but this has reminded me

watch from a bag of monster munch
cardigan from sugar magazine (didn’t fit!)
Cadbury gift bag at the theatre when I was a child
£50 on an arcade machine at Bognor butlins - all £1 coins
voucher for le creuset - got a great frying pan

nothing big though.

Friends in a syndicate one a million which was split 4 ways.

germsandcoffee · 05/09/2022 23:00

I've won 1500 pounds on the lottery 5 times

Myownpapillon · 05/09/2022 23:01

I won over £5k on a sports bet a few years ago.

Augend23 · 05/09/2022 23:02

I won a massive jar of sweets as a child. I don't think I was meant to win the way I did - it was guess the number. I think they had failed to cover up the weight of the jar and I guesstimated the weight of a single sweet, divided one by the other and voila I was within about 3 sweets of the actual number...

Sadly I don't think I have had any more exotic wins, though I get £25 on the premium bonds once every couple of months.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 05/09/2022 23:05

A years supply of petrol. Even better they just sent a cheque and in reality we could spend it on whatever we wanted. It was about £1000 (a few years ago) and worth way more than we spent on petrol too.

Not long after I split with ex dp his Mum won a weeks holiday at Butlins for 4 and gave it to me. Dd was only 5 so we went with my parents, it was great.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 05/09/2022 23:06

I won £50 that goes behind the bar at our local on quiz night. Our group rule is we only spend it on quiz nights though and by the time I next went it was all gone 🤣 I've had plenty of drinks off other people's winnings though

abblie · 05/09/2022 23:07

£1000 at an amusement arcade and I hadn't a clue what I was doing lol

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 05/09/2022 23:09

@PrincessOfChina that’s an amazing prize!

CuriousMama · 05/09/2022 23:14

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 05/09/2022 21:35

Df won big on the football pools years ago.
Dumped me and my dc.

He did you a favour though. Why would you want to be with someone so shallow?
