I'm the world's most unlucky person but what about you guys? My friend one a kitchen uo to the value of £15k a few years ago and a girl in my town won her dream wedding. What have you won?

I used to be quite lucky mainly winning tickets to various events, my best one was a family ticket to the theatre around Christmas time to see Chitty Chitty Bang bang which was amazing. The ticket was worth about $600 which we couldn't have afforded at the time - unsurprisingly they were great seats - so the kids were thrilled as I had already said no when they asked to go. I haven't won anything now for absolutely ages though.

I won a trip to Chessington with MN about 10 years ago, we didn’t have much money and it was to launch an Octonauts thing, dd aged about 3 loved Octonauts and her face when she met one of the characters was a picture. Such a lovely day. Other than that the best I’ve done is some coffee (which was still nice).

Dd is incredibly lucky, has won a few play sets in magazines and 5 figure sum on premium bonds (don’t know how much she’s got but I suspect a lot).

My 3 biggest wins have been £10,500 on The Chase, £998 at bingo and a 50cc motorbike from CD:UK when I was 18. 🙂

I would pay £10,500 to spend the day with Bradley Walsh - l love him!!

Wow this thread has inspired me. I wondered if you could possibly point me in the right direction of the best competition sites/forums please? I have had a Google but wasn’t sure about all the personal details I had to enter.

I won an iPad on a Friday 13th. It is the most expensive thing I have ever won and I don't even remember entering a competition.

I won a Beattie bear at a raffle while I was pregnant, which ds then claimed, and it became his bear that went everywhere. In fact, he still has it somewhere and he is 24 now 😀

I don't know if this counts as winning, but yesterday I managed to get 2 boxes of panty liners and 2 boxes of oats free via a Facebook sponsored post.

I do not know a single person that has won anything remotely newsworthy on the lottery, so I am quite convinced its just a big scam. Plenty of small little wins, but never jackpot amounts.

He was so lovely. The poor producers had to cut a lot out as we were having a mad laugh together and he was telling jokes that they were having to tell him to tone down but none of them made it to the final show anyway. I was also teaching him how to pronounce some Scottish words which he didn't do very well with and Mark Labbett was sitting at the top just roaring with laughter at it. I did teach Mark some history about the nickname of my local football team though and I'm waiting for the day I see him remember it on another show. 😁

Quite a few things over the years including a holiday to France through Asda magazine, a weekend at The Ickworth including spa tickets & VIP tickets to Proms in the Park with Renault magazine. That was amazing!

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 06/09/2022 11:47

Soa treatments!!

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 06/09/2022 11:48

Spa ffs!!!

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 06/09/2022 11:56

I won £500 on the radio nearly 20 years ago BUT my favourite (and only other notable) win was a gameboy that I won in a bag of Quavers as a kid!

My ex won Live8 tickets and the one after him won a trip to London (didn’t live here at the time) with concert tickets so I benefited from those too!

Coastalcreeksider · 06/09/2022 11:59

A Teasmade in 1977 in a Christmas raffle. Used it constantly, was lovely to wake up to a cup of tea in bed but the whooshing sound of the water streaming into the teapot woke us quite a bit before the alarm went off.

Those were the days ...😁

Never money or anything crazy (I don't play the lottery or anything where money is involved) but I must have been born under a lucky sign because I have weird good luck where things like raffles are involved. I always seem to win at raffles and similar. Most recently I won a huge natural Christmas wreath without even entering anything, because I was the 100th person to buy a Christmas tree.

When I was a kid my nan took me to a raffle and I won a glass trinket box, a bunch of smaller stuff which I don't remember, and then the grand prize of a massive fruit display. Someone actually complained because I'd won too much but got overruled because how do you take prizes away from a little kid? Marian Keynes wrote an article about the exact same thing once happening to her family at bingo which I found very amusing.

I didn't care about the other stuff, I just remember being massively chuffed to win a pineapple!

Libre55 · 06/09/2022 12:33

Can anyone recommend a good comping website please?

Those were the days indeed....

Someone I know was looking for one to buy, and they are not available any more. Coffee has taken over.....

(I am not in the UK so maybe you still get them there?)

mindutopia · 06/09/2022 13:03

My dog won first place in the ‘prettiest bitch’ class at the county show this summer. It was pretty exciting.

weebarra · 06/09/2022 13:17

When I went to the panto with the brownies I won a huge cuddly hippo by having the lucky programme.
I also won:
Tickets to a music festival, which we were dying to go to but couldn't afford
A canvas print by one of my favourite artists
A picture of our family made from sea glass
£50 from delicious magazine for doing their crossword

OhFatty · 06/09/2022 13:24

I won a season ticket for our local football team from the local paper

To most people it might not be much, but my husband had been made redundant (recession of 2008), he’s always supported this (rubbish) team since his dad started taking him as a toddler, and the best thing was, I got the email saying I’d won ON HIS BIRTHDAY!!!

Shlomping1234 · 06/09/2022 14:13

I won a set of knives in a pub raffle when I was about 18. The landlord kept them safe as I was howling drunk 🥴
Around the same age I won a massive whip at an Ann Summers party. My older brother didn't know what hit him when I burst through the door chasing him with it 🤣

Imissmoominmama · 06/09/2022 14:15

I won a car seat in a MN competition. I’d entered it for a friend who was pregnant and she was very happy!

Wow, Sugar magazine! That takes me back! I had a subscription to that magazine. Loved picking it up from the local shop.

There was a magazine I read before that, for younger girls… I can’t remember the name, ‘Girl something’? I remember getting a free choker necklace with it and wearing it all the time. The black lace and silver flower charm on it.

I was so excited when I ‘graduated’ to the more grown up Sugar magazine 😆

I remember getting a yingyang choker from a magazine. I miss the 90s.

Daftapath · 06/09/2022 14:36

A years supply of curry sauce, pataks oven glove and apron and a Nigella cooking pot. Dyson vacuum. A copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. All on Mumsnet!

Still hopeful of winning big on the lottery but I would need to actually play it first! Grin

SingularityCat · 06/09/2022 14:57

I knew a teasmade was a thing!! I swear my parents used to have one but when I mentioned it to them they mocked me and said "errrr, don't you mean a kettle".

I've never won anything exciting except when I was a child and won a book for coming up with the best scarecrow name at the village fete.

Coastalcreeksider · 06/09/2022 15:45

They most definitely are a thing, in fact Argos sell them £55. They don't look the same as mine did but if I was still working I might have considered getting one.

In 1977 with no ch in the house it was wonderful to not have to get out of bed and shiver your way to a cold kitchen to get a cup of tea. 😄
