What year is your car?

Curiosity question. Mine is 2005 and I'm just starting to feel anxious that it's completely on its last legs - how old is seen as 'very old' now (from someone who knows literally f* all about cars?)

2016 - intend to run it until it drops then see what the electric market is like

StarCourt · 19/08/2022 19:56

Mine was 2008, I had it for 4 yrs but I changed it in January for a 2019 model. I knew it wouldn't make another MOT without costing a fortune, plus I usually had to call out Green Flag a few times a year.
I love driving a newer car it gives me more confidence.

dizzydizzydizzy · 19/08/2022 19:56

2001 Ford Mondeo

Pinkflipflop85 · 19/08/2022 19:56

2008
70k on the clock. Just had to pay a fair bit to get it through the MOT but it is Ulez compliant and a good family car.

Lds1 · 19/08/2022 19:56

2016, will keep it for as long as possible

Badbadbunny · 19/08/2022 20:00

2008 but with only 31k miles on the clock. It's in immaculate condition with full service history, I've owned it from new. Hope to get lots more years out of it.

Grumpybutfunny · 19/08/2022 20:01

2021 ex demonstrator mini and I love it. Had a 2014 BMW that was starting to cost money at 80k on the clock so traded if in. Generally keep cars until they start costing more than new tyres and breaks, I also get nervous travelling long distance once things start to go wrong

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 19/08/2022 20:02
  1. We had the previous one for 4 years but that was a lease car. We’ve bought this one outright and hoping to keep it at least 10 years.
FreezyFreezy · 19/08/2022 20:05
  1. Drives like a dream.
erikbloodaxe · 19/08/2022 20:05

2011 89k. Full annual service. I look after her so she looks after me. Volvo V70

Riverboatcaptain · 19/08/2022 20:08

1989😎 that’s my car, a car that I love, and I will drive for years to come. Also have a modern family car which I have no interest in.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2022 20:08

Mine is 6 years old, bought three years ago to replace a 2005 car. I always buy used, keep them for a few years then replace before they start to give trouble.

Floralnomad · 19/08/2022 20:09

2011 , we are currently looking at new cars but this one will be staying as he’s extremely reliable and I usually keep them to end of life .

CoodleMoodle · 19/08/2022 20:10
  1. We got it in 2014. It's just failed the MOT for the first time and cost £400 to fix... If it fails again next year we're going to have a chat about changing it. It doesn't get used a huge amount, but we only have one car now as DH WFH and I'm a SAHM, so only need it for ferrying the kids about, etc.
TheFairyCaravan · 19/08/2022 20:11

We’ve got a 2021 and a 2010. DH only takes our newer car to work very occasionally now since someone sideswiped it in the carpark. He’s going to keep running our older one until it dies. We’ve had it since it was 18mths old and it’s been looked after really well.

yonce · 19/08/2022 19:14

2021 and 2022 😂 already looking for the next one, I have a short attention span clearly.

Or lots of money to spare. Smile

countdowntonap · 19/08/2022 20:12

2009
I have the money in savings to buy a decent new car outright, but as I drive less than 50 miles a week it seems daft to buy buying else until this car runs it life - the man in the garage says it has plenty of years yet 😂

PumpkinGhoul · 19/08/2022 20:13

2009 Volvo estate will keep running it until it decides to no longer ain't changing it at all.
Certainly don't want to pay over the odds for a car these days.

TwoMonthsOff · 19/08/2022 20:15

@PumpkinGhoul
Volvos are built to last, I love them and the Volvo drivers are the politest on the road in my personal survey

blebbleb · 19/08/2022 20:15
  1. Love my car and can't afford a new one anyway.
PissedOffNeighbour22 · 19/08/2022 20:16

2003

LT2 · 19/08/2022 20:16

Mine is 2014

FizzyStream · 19/08/2022 20:16

2016 but it's only got 25k miles on the clock and I love it and all it's gadgets.

PumpkinGhoul · 19/08/2022 20:19

@TwoMonthsOff they certainly are my DH makes sure it's serviced annually and looked after it's been super reliable and such a tank we wanted a car that was known for its safety reliability for carrying our two Dcs in 😊

BigFatLiar · 19/08/2022 20:21

Mine 197i, his 1966, ours 2009
