Things that are now forever named after something your kid said

In our household, I make a rice dish sometimes that is named after my son's reaction to it when he was about 3. Knowing he liked rice and sweetcorn, I presented him with this dish that includes both, only for his little face to crumple and him to give an anguished cry of 'MUMMY, WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO IT?!'

So of course, it has ever since been known as 'Mummy why did you do that to it?!' (I've even crossed out the name in the recipe book and written it there). DS is now 11 and actually likes MWDYDTTI these days, although he still leaves the green peppers.

Is there anything that your household now refers to by something memorable one of the kids has said?

We call fried eggs 'flat eggs'. My two year old wanted eggs for breakfast and didn't want boiled or scrambled eggs, he used cute hand gestures showing how to flatten an uncooked egg, he is 12 now and it is still the same.

Anothernosebleed · 09/08/2022 15:41

@Plannersareus we have flat eggs here too! And also when having a egg sandwich my son will ask for an “egg egg sandwich” because it specifically has to have two eggs.

We call an umbrella a hambrella because that's what DD used to call it as a toddler.

laundryelf · 09/08/2022 15:46

Our local newsagents has now changed to a Spar but is still known by the family as "the frog shop". So named by toddler DC as we bought chocolate frogs, Freddos, from it. Size toddlers now 23 and 25 years old!

ItsJustASimpleLine · 09/08/2022 15:48

A pushchair will always be a pushtram thanks to DD

Ylvamoon · 09/08/2022 15:48

Chardonnay73 · 09/08/2022 15:51

Crips (crisps)
Flu Flus (flowers)
and not an object but ‘Look likes’ ( Looks like)
They are sweaty smelly teens now and typing this makes me want to cry!

Chardonnay73 · 09/08/2022 15:52

Oh and ‘pot arms’. Ds2 was insistent he wanted to wear them one day. We were mystified. Turns out it meant a t shirt - ie ‘part arms’ 🤣

ParvuliThankYouDebbie · 09/08/2022 15:53

When DDs make a home made frappe with espresso, crushed ice and vegan ice cream it’s now always known as a Covfefe - because they assumed that was what Trump must have meant when he tweeted it 😂

AlwaysLatte · 09/08/2022 15:55

Living Room: now the Limb Room
Tv Remote: TB Demote
Breakfast: Brektass
Toast and Marmite: Tosmarmite
Television: Televelision
Ok so we do t use these words all the time (they're now 14 and 12) but we sometimes do!
Nb our 14 year old still says Subramine instead of submarine, despite reminders!

AlwaysLatte · 09/08/2022 15:56

Oh yes and the barber shop has always been called the Haircut House (though we're careful not to say it in front of their friends!!)

TokyoSushi · 09/08/2022 15:45

We call an umbrella a hambrella because that's what DD used to call it as a toddler.

Actually I think you’ll find it’s actually called an underbrella Grin

bluebellinthewood · 09/08/2022 15:58

Ahh my 2 both said cucumber really cute. One said cupiner and the other said cuumba. Oh and peacock was definitely "big c**k". Very hard (excuse the pun!) not to laugh when he said that.!

germsandcoffee · 09/08/2022 15:58

A trampoline is always called a jumpoline.

GuyFawkesDay · 09/08/2022 16:00

AppleKatie · 09/08/2022 16:01

if cats go to a cattery than dogs (obv!) go to the doggery!

We also have a ‘high pad’ not an iPad.

stillvicarinatutu · 09/08/2022 16:03

He's 30 now 😂

MrsIronfoundersson · 09/08/2022 16:03
