Things that are now forever named after something your kid said

In our household, I make a rice dish sometimes that is named after my son's reaction to it when he was about 3. Knowing he liked rice and sweetcorn, I presented him with this dish that includes both, only for his little face to crumple and him to give an anguished cry of 'MUMMY, WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO IT?!'

So of course, it has ever since been known as 'Mummy why did you do that to it?!' (I've even crossed out the name in the recipe book and written it there). DS is now 11 and actually likes MWDYDTTI these days, although he still leaves the green peppers.

Is there anything that your household now refers to by something memorable one of the kids has said?

We have ordaments instead of ornaments.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 09/08/2022 16:36

Not the kids saying, but the remote is called the Simon. (Only old peeps will remember videos having an anti pirating message read out by Simon Bates)

Squiff70 · 09/08/2022 16:36

My daughter is two and a half and has pretty severe developmental delay due to extreme prematurity. She can only say two or three words.

Whenever somebody sneezes, she shouts "BEAR!". No idea why but it's SO cute! It's often met with the reply "Thanks for the bear!" 😂

The iPad is still referred to as ‘the tap’ (thanks for that, Mr Tumble) although the child who first used it is now enormous.

’Northampton’ will forever be ‘North Hamsters’ in the Feetle household.

Moklin Troll (remote control)
princess ladders (potato waffles)

Funnykids25 · 09/08/2022 16:45

We have 'I done a burt' for burping.

If you have a mishap it is by purpose or on accident.

We have a big tower nearby called 'the peep' after I told DS2 we were nearly home as if you peep through the trees you can see the tower. He misunderstood and thought it was called the peep - and it has been ever since. 😂

There will be forever 2 types of ice-cream thanks to DD.
Ice-cream - shop bought
Ding-dong cream - from an Ice-cream van.

BreadmanAndCake · 09/08/2022 16:53

Oh and a bit grim but he recently had a poo and upon inspecting the bowl noticed it popped out of the water a little bit and proudly declared it a 'water ladder' 🤣

Anythingbutsnow · 09/08/2022 17:01

We oopop doors from when DS couldn't say open.

ChagSameachDoreen · 09/08/2022 17:04

Mickey Mouse will forever be Mitty Bouse.

AliasGrape · 09/08/2022 17:06

My nephew (only actually a couple of years younger than me) used to call fried eggs 'down eggs' and boiled eggs 'up eggs' - my whole side of the family still use.that. He's 38.

DD is just 2, so most days are interpreting cute bit slightly cryptic thing she has said. Hard to know what will stick, but we are eating a lot of 'black bluebees' at the moment (blackberries obvs). She also calls food namnam, and has her dinner on a blue duck plate usually, so dinnertime is now 'blue duck nam nam' time.
