New thread as needed.

I wonder what new promises will come out this week?

I don't think anyone has wanted rid of 'pesky foreigners' just an end to illegal and incredibly dangerous people trafficking

It hasn’t worked, has it? Just left us short of doctors, dentists, construction workers and all sorts of essential workers.

Let's ignore the experts and enjoy the sunshine 🦄

Good old Raab!

Energy prices are a massive concern, but the media whipping everyone up the same as they did about covid, like they do when we have a 2 day heatwave, doesn't help the situation does it.

We need facts not hysteria.

Well posting the predictions is fact.

Reporting we may have blackouts because Russia withholds has is fact.

People who will die prematurely due to being cold or hungry and not having family support is fact. (This happened every year but it'll increase)

Anyone remember the interview with the lady who said she'd taken to travelling on the bus throughout the day to save in needing heat her house and Johnson was response was to say that was thanks to him when he was major introducing the freedom pass.

Just so fucking tone deaf 🤦🏼‍♀️

'They didn't care about the finer details, they didn't listen to the warnings 'cause they thought getting rid of pesky foreigners would MaKe BriTaiN GrAtE again.'

Ah the old alternate caps thing, lol. Those thicko brexiteers!

I don't think anyone has wanted rid of 'pesky foreigners' just an end to illegal and incredibly dangerous people trafficking.

And yet - we have record number daily of crossings currently.

So that worked didn't it?

And their actual solution (to punish the asylum seekers and not the criminals arranging the crossings) was held up as illegal by the ECHR.

newnamethanks · 11/08/2022 18:58

Bamfords are Daylesford Organic, purveyors - donors - of quality hampers of fine foodstuffs to the ligging Johnsons in Number 10. Its a bit late to start complaining about publicity now.

Blossomtoes · 11/08/2022 19:43

And the response to that was “Fuck the ECHR, we’ll leave it”. The arrogance is breathtaking.

DuncinToffee · 11/08/2022 21:33

Who needs protection from torture.

I can't remember protecting vulnerable refugees from people smugglers being promoted by vote leave, I do remember the poster behind Farage

I remember that poster too Duncin. What an awful manipulation of the public that was.

I'm not surprised that BJ has checked out of his role, he doesn't care a damn.
I remember reading about other PMs ending their tenureship and wanting to leave a legacy and working right up to the end.
Not Johnson, he's too busy thinking about himself

'BREAKING | Nearly 30,000 waited more than 12 hours in English A&Es last month'

Because many treat A&E as the first port of call rather than ringing 111, sending econsults for routine stuff, getting an appointment at their GPs for urgent issues or seeing nurse practitioners etc.

If you went to A&E actually unwell with something like a broken leg, a heart attack etc you would not wait 12hrs. Earache and period pains, yes.

Just over 5 weeks ago my very frail 84 yo FIL was discharged from hospital, despite having covid that he caught there. He had stage 4 cancer and unstable diabetes that had caused him to be admitted 4 times in 6 weeks because he was repeatedly discharged too soon. 4 days later his neighbours were woken just before 6am by him calling for help. They couldn't get in but managed to speak to him through a small open window. He was on the floor in great pain, and thought he might gave broken his hip. They called an ambulance. 2.5 hours later his carers arrived . They chased the ambulance telling them he was now giving difficulties breathing. It was another 2 hours before the ambulance arrived. Then he queued outside the hospital waiting for admission for nearly 3 hours. He had sepsis and by the time he was treated it was too late. That is the NHS under your wonderful Boris Johnson.

Notonthestairs · 12/08/2022 08:18

I'm sorry about your Dad Countrygirl.

AdamRyan · 12/08/2022 08:33

What are your views in this @JaniieJones ? Doesn't look like the conservatives are doing a great job with the NHS to me

www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11103993/amp/Months-National-Insurance-tax-hike-NHS-waiting-lists-hit-record-high-6-7million.html

(Also looks like the government approach is to undermine the NHS rather than actually fund them. So much for all the clapping and the 350 million brexit bonus)

AdamRyan · 12/08/2022 08:34

I'm sorry too @countrygirl99 xx

Roussette · 12/08/2022 08:37

@countrygirl99 How truly awful for you and all your family Flowers

'Mail pretending that chucking money at a staffing and resource issue can show results in a few weeks.
The Mail supported Brexit and supported the cuts in funding for the NHS.... which still seems to be their aim, with support to reverse the NI rise and "reform" the NHS.

Very sorry for your loss @countrygirl99

InMySpareTime · 12/08/2022 09:08

My 99 year old DGM had to wait 6 hours for an ambulance while in severe pain, and 8 hours after getting to hospital is still not admitted. The NHS is not working.

So sorry about you fil countrygirl.

You must put in a complaint to the hospital, a very frail 84yr old with stage 4 cancer without family members at home overnight and 4 recent admissions should never have been discharged home, he should have been discharged to a hospice or a care home. Must've been awful for his poor neighbours who couldn't even get in to the house Flowers.

Notonthestairs · 12/08/2022 10:15

From today's FT - Social care funding is still below its level in 2010, while the population it serves has grown by more than 60%.

he should have been discharged to a hospice or a care home.

And that's the problem, there are not enough beds or staff.

Your not really getting this are you?

There are few care homes/hospices, these places have no space, Care packages have long waiting lists, 100s of people in Cornwall currently have none/withdrawn.

My DD wards are full of people who are medically fit but have no where to go BUT they have to get them out wherever possible.

You lot wanted Brexit and support a party that has consistently underfunded the NHS, even Jeremy Hunt now admits this.

Is she there today?
Hope she will be seen soon, best wishes.
