New thread as needed.

I wonder what new promises will come out this week?

Littledrummergirl, poor you, I hope you feel better soon.

My NDN needed an ambulance in the middle of the night. Because of where we live, bit rural to say the least, they couldn't get one, they sent the fire brigade instead. 😮
There is an end to the story but it's a bit depressing so I'll leave it there

'Added to that most NHS staff take patient confidentiality pretty seriously'

Pretty seriously? Well yes it is a sackable offence to gossip about patients hence these musings that he wasn't really ill because 'there was leaks innit' are rather ridiculous.

There isn't one ICU consultant or HCP that would have gone along with the conspiracy theories spouted on here.

Nothing to do with leaks. Johnson himself said, on the record, that it was "really mild". Other information which he has provided is totally inconsistent with someone who was supposedly at death's door.

Maybe janiiejones has a mindset similar to that of the elderly chaps mentioned here:

twitter.com/AlanGalaxy/status/1557697712845471744?s=20&t=h_eY9Z4ule4WdufZHq4sUg

No, I don't have a mindset similar to those in some made up ageist crap on Twitter. Energy prices are a massive concern, but the media whipping everyone up the same as they did about covid, like they do when we have a 2 day heatwave, doesn't help the situation does it.

We need facts not hysteria.

Why on earth was my post deleted? Has MN tightened the guidelines without telling us?

Try hitting the report button on that post and asking them.

We need facts not hysteria.

Please provide your facts about people causing the current A&E delay by going there for earache and period pains

Quia · 11/08/2022 17:16

SueSaid · 11/08/2022 12:36

'BREAKING | Nearly 30,000 waited more than 12 hours in English A&Es last month'

Because many treat A&E as the first port of call rather than ringing 111, sending econsults for routine stuff, getting an appointment at their GPs for urgent issues or seeing nurse practitioners etc.

If you went to A&E actually unwell with something like a broken leg, a heart attack etc you would not wait 12hrs. Earache and period pains, yes.

Last month DH and I had a jolly 11.5 hours overnight in A&E (when it is obviously usually quieter) when he had a suspected stroke. No-one fetches up in A&E at 1 a.m. for routine stuff or because they can't see a GP, so obviously that wasn't the reason. Lucky us, I suppose, we didn't actually make it to 12 hours, but we undoubtedly would have if we'd gone during the day.

Can’t be bothered. It was a rhetorical question anyway. MN seems to have a policy of deleting anything that’s reported and a regular poster to this thread has form for it.

Blossomtoes · 11/08/2022 17:21

Is your bloke OK @Quia?

The strange case of Johnson's wedding host

Law firm Schillings is trying to prevent the media from publishing photos of the home of Tory donors Anthony and Carole Bamford, who were generous enough to host Carrie and Boris Johnson wedding celebrations last month.
twitter.com/Ian_Fraser/status/1557321829013790720?t=MnyFHMtL-8TCgygxiGuhjA&s=19

Even stranger, given that the photos in question have been publicly available for years. They also complain about maps which are also held publicly on the National Heritage List.

It's noteworthy that Bamford worth objects strongly to sanctions against Russia, and that a previous proposed peerage was blocked because of concerns over his tax affairs. Something tells me he's prominent on Johnson's infamous peerage list.

I fear things could get quite ugly in the autumn when the government's more rabid supporters suddenly realise that economic problems are neither a lefty fiction or Project Fear and that those bills actually are landing on their doorsteps.

And the facts are that if something is not done, even more people than usual will die because of cold homes this winter. People will struggle to meet all their essential bills and put food on the table.

Also, as you want (rightly) to only deal with facts, how about backing up some of the assertions you have made with facts? You have been asked nicely to do so @janiiejones

Blossomtoes · 11/08/2022 17:37

I wonder if Truss will call an election the moment she’s in Downing Street before those bills start to land? It could easily be justified because “democracy”.

Cornettoninja · 11/08/2022 17:38

We need facts not hysteria

I had a revelation fairly late in the game but I’ve concluded that anyone who looks at the news surrounding us these days and concludes ‘hysteria’ are precisely the ones who are mostly hysterical/panicked.

The news today is full of grim stuff, some sensationalist headlines, but based on facts happening around us. These are actual facts, this stuff is happening. Denial is just the other side of the coin of panic, its not a measured reaction to have no reaction.

A couple of weeks ago the stories of lack of rainfall and yellowing grass were full of people commenting that it was perfectly normal for summer and simply crops ripening. In public parks and nature reserves. Utterly deluded, but clearly what they need to tell themselves to cope.

Cornettoninja · 11/08/2022 17:45

Quia · 11/08/2022 17:28

Yes, he is, thanks.

Glad to hear it. Flowers

ClaudineClare · 11/08/2022 17:47

I don't know why the British people are accepting the absolute mess this tory government are making of everything, but especially your health care. The unions are right, enough is enough!

Because they are in denial, I expect. People knowingly fucked up the UK via voting for Brexit and Johnson. They didn't care about the finer details, they didn't listen to the warnings 'cause they thought getting rid of pesky foreigners would MaKe BriTaiN GrAtE again. A curse on all their houses.

SueSaid · 11/08/2022 17:50

'I had a revelation fairly late in the game but I’ve concluded that anyone who looks at the news surrounding us these days and concludes ‘hysteria’ are precisely the ones who are mostly hysterical/panicked.'

I'm not remotely hysterical or panicked but I see many people who are. Martin Lewis has gone all Piers Morgan predicting cataclysmic Armageddons. It will be hard but there will be more handouts/payments to assist. Noone will be burning their furniture to cook their tea.

Cornettoninja · 11/08/2022 17:52

Noone will be burning their furniture to cook their tea

Your literally the only person I’ve seen say something like that. It’s a fairly ‘hysterical’ example to use when no one else is talking like that.

SueSaid · 11/08/2022 17:56

'They didn't care about the finer details, they didn't listen to the warnings 'cause they thought getting rid of pesky foreigners would MaKe BriTaiN GrAtE again.'

Ah the old alternate caps thing, lol. Those thicko brexiteers!

I don't think anyone has wanted rid of 'pesky foreigners' just an end to illegal and incredibly dangerous people trafficking.

DuncinToffee · 11/08/2022 18:00

Let's ignore the experts and enjoy the sunshine 🦄

DuncinToffee · 11/08/2022 18:01

just an end to illegal and incredibly dangerous people trafficking.

Safe routes will do that, Rwanda doesn't

Roussette · 11/08/2022 18:05

Energy prices are a massive concern, but the media whipping everyone up the same as they did about covid, like they do when we have a 2 day heatwave, doesn't help the situation does it

But the trouble is Janiie the Govt react when public opinion forces them to. Like now with the energy crisis (except they haven't done anything except BJ "urging"),

Look at the school dinners Marcus thing...it would never have happened without the public forcing the issue and the press backing them.

And the COUNTLESS u-turns the Govt have done because of an outcry and the media latching on to it.

Brexit wasn't just about illegals, it was about getting rid of EU workers who were stealing our jobs.

Please don't reinvent history.

Now they have and we can all see the consequences, even if folk like you say "nothing to do with Brexit" the real experts say otherwise.

British Dental Association say 1000s of EU dentists left because of it.

L1ttledrummergirl · 11/08/2022 18:07

Thank you for your good wishes. I have a gp appointment booked for 2 weeks time- booked a few weeks ago- so hopefully they can get me in the system for treatment.

I don't know if I will ever be breathing normally, but hopefully there are some techniques that can help me adapt and then build on my fitness.
I am much improved from the first few months though.

ClaudineClare · 11/08/2022 18:09

So if it was all about wanting to protect people from traffickers etc., why did Johnson and Co. weaponise the lie about Turkey joining the EU @JaniieJones ? Johnson knew his audience.
