"Assuming she gets in, early September, has she got the time to implement something suitable?"
What I'd like to believe is that work is going on now which can be implemented quickly (enough?). In my mind I think they've decided to take the flak now, keep the membership talking about wokery nonsense and complete leadership election because those members will vote Tory anyway. Then come September they can be seen to ride to the national rescue.
That way any quibbles about an unelected leader temporarily fall away (in time for party conferences in October where they can all applaud themselves 🙄).
If they are seen to suggest paths forward now they won't get the benefit in the polls later.
I also think the Labour Party have decided to let the Conservatives pull each other apart a bit more before going on the attack. By the end of the month they should be shredding the lack of direction and suggesting plans (which Conservatives will reject and then u-turn on).
That's what I am sort of hoping is happening because otherwise it is all too awful. This might make me naïve, cynical or just dumb.
And as I say it leaves the rest of us spending summer worrying about the winter.
