How often do you put sunscreen on your face?

I put factor 50 SPF on my face every day, irrespective of weather. I'm hoping it will make a difference to my skin when I'm older, as I'm very low maintenance and adding this additional step to my morning routine is a bother. But I persevere because it seems SPF is the single best thing you can do for your skin.

Anyone else? Or do most people only apply SPF to their face if they go out/on holiday?

365 days a year, and I keep a spray in my bag to top up during the day of its particularly sunny out.

FionnulaTheCooler · 04/08/2022 17:04

I use a tinted moisturiser that has SPF20 as a base but I would put actual suncream on if I was going to be out all day in the summer.

CowPalace · 04/08/2022 17:05

Factor 50 daily.

linslime · 04/08/2022 17:09

factor 50 every morning. Only if I’m leaving the house but have recently been told you need it even if you’re inside as UVB penetrates windows

fluffyducky21 · 04/08/2022 17:12

Every morning.At least SPF30 ,SPF50 if it's particularly sunny .

Mollyplop999 · 04/08/2022 17:12

I put factor 50 on daily as spend a lot of time outdoors. Unfortunately the minute I get warm it just seems to slide off. I haven't found anything that doesn't so probably getting hardly any protection

Mushroomlady · 04/08/2022 17:13

I put it on if I'm going outside whether it's sunny or not.

Ragwort · 04/08/2022 17:14

Errr .. never. I've been sitting in the sun most of the day today and haven't used any sunscreen. Blush

Cyclingforcake · 04/08/2022 17:14

Every day as part of my morning routine. Then every 3-4 hours of I’m outside or on holiday.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 04/08/2022 17:14

A dermatologist told me to apply factor 50 to any exposed skin every single day of the year, so I do. Well done for starting young

picklemewalnuts · 04/08/2022 17:15

Factor 50, mornings.

However I'm not convinced the amount I apply is enough, but I don't seek the sun out- sunbathe or sit on beaches.

Ducksinthebath · 04/08/2022 17:16

Every day of the year with a top up at lunch and the end of the work day. I was previously a sun worshipper so trying to claw back some of the damage I’ve already done.

KalaniM · 04/08/2022 17:16

I use spf50 every time I go out, not indoors. I don’t think I wore facial spf though, until I was fairly mature, I can’t remember when we first were told/ realised spf was a thing. It used to be just for beach holidays.. eeek!

Ringmaster27 · 04/08/2022 17:17

Factor 50 on my face every day all year round.
Factor 50 on exposed tattooed skin during the summer months.

Cluelessgift · 04/08/2022 17:18

Factor 50 every morning all year round
and if im not wearing makeup I apply again after lunch during the summer

FarewellNeighbours · 04/08/2022 17:18

I put factor 30 on my face every day if going outdoors no matter the weather (though I probably forget more often than not during the winter as the sun isn’t on my mind).
I think covering any exposed skin in factor 50 as a pp said is going a bit overboard though? Surely you need a bit of vitamin d?

Ponderingwindow · 04/08/2022 17:19

Every day I will be leaving the house. I don’t go out every day.

Whatwouldnanado · 04/08/2022 17:20

Every day. My foundation has factor 45 built in, the moisturiser I use beforehand is factor 15. I put factor 50 on other exposed bits in the summer.

Wish I had been more particular about sunscreen on the backs of my hands in the past, they're a lot more wrinkly than my face! Keep a little bottle in my bag and use like hand cream all year round now.

Giggorata · 04/08/2022 17:21

Almost never, since I heard that there is evidence connecting its use with alopecia.

RampantIvy · 04/08/2022 17:22

I'm struggling to feel the need for factor 50 in the winter where I live when the weather is usually like this most of the time.

So I'm not unusual. Good - that means it's probably a good idea. I'll carry on then.
