Just had very strange call from the midwife

Demanding to know why I'd missed lots of ante natal appointments and my 20 week scan and saying she was coming to see me tomorrow morning. After a slightly stunned silence I said I thought maybe she'd got the wrong person as I wasn't pregnant. According to her records, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. She's really concerned as I'm classed as high risk (true)

She had the right person - right date of birth, address, name and she was the same lovely midwife I had when I was pregnant with DS and DD. I remember her well she's a lovely woman.

She was absolutely mystified by my insistence that I am not so far as I know 25 weeks pregnant... but not quite so mystified as me by the news that I am.

DD is 16 and DS is very nearly 10 - I'm not planning another Grin

How bizarre! Will she be turning up on your doorstep tomorrow?

Hugasauras · 25/07/2022 20:58

That's weird! Were you pregnant at this time 10 years ago? Wonder if the years got transposed or something, so 2012 got changed to 2022? Confused

ReeseWitherfork · 25/07/2022 20:58

Haha I hope she’s not got physic abilities! Quite a lot of trusts have self referrals now so a bit worrying that they’ve clearly mixed you up with someone else. But I’m guessing thats what’s happened?! Feeling very sorry for the poor woman out there who is actually 21 weeks and not had any contact.

Is she still coming. That needs to happen, give the lass a cuppa and have a catch up while you figure it out.

gamerchick · 25/07/2022 21:02

Are you 21 or 25 weeks pregnant. It says both in your post.

TamSamLam · 25/07/2022 21:03

Is there any chance whatsoever that your daughter might be (or was) pregnant? I'd want to gently ask just to be sure.
But also I'd let pals know because something has gone wrong somewhere.

Neither.

She's not pregnant at all.

listsandbudgets · 25/07/2022 21:05

@Hugasauras Yes. DS is 10 next week.

@Crazycatlady83 Yup apparently she'll pop round about 10am as she'll be round the corner so might as well say hello. It will be nice to see her. I'm sure she's checking up on my non existent bump. I've put on a bit of weight since she last saw me hope she believes it's only flab Grin

And yes it's obviously a huge concern if someone is not being checked on. Also if someone has said they're me, and booked with my details that's pretty weird too.

Have you done a test just to make sure lol

Crazycatlady83 · 25/07/2022 21:07

Well, it's best to have a professional check you aren't pregnant just in case. Better be safe than sorry ConfusedGrin

Goodness knows... 30 perhaps!! Fairly sure it's 21 as I missed my 20 week scan apparently

I have seen something like this before at work (I’m a HCP) and it was someone using someone else’s details to obtain free NHS treatment they weren’t entitled to, do you know anyone who may have done this?

DNAwrangler · 25/07/2022 21:08

Have you been to the doctors for anything in the last 20 weeks ish?

listsandbudgets · 25/07/2022 21:13

It's not DD - her surname is different from mine to start with and she'd never give my mobile number as she has her own. There are other reasons I'm sure it's nto her as well

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 25/07/2022 21:14

If her name is Meg you are screwed!

TheBikiniExpert · 25/07/2022 21:22

It's probably someone with the same name. Something similar happened to my SIL and she has a fairly unusual name but another woman at the same Dr's surgery had the same name and year of birth and the records got mixed up.

TolkiensFallow · 25/07/2022 21:22

😂 I reckon someone put the wrong phone number somewhere…

pimlicoanna · 25/07/2022 21:22

I had pretty much the same happen after I had a baby I got hounded for not turning up to antenatal baby checks- which of course I had attended. It was caused by an NHS number error. I'd bet that could be the case with you too.

MadeForThis · 25/07/2022 21:33

Very strange. Unlikely to be the dates. Possibly name and DOB?

Cocopogo · 25/07/2022 21:37

Wow I’m guessing the GP has made an error

BertieBotts · 25/07/2022 21:42

I'm just here for the update after the cup of tea tomorrow XD

I like the theory that someone has accidentally input your due date as 2022 instead of 2012, and it triggered some kind of automatic thing ten years in the future because they are still using the exact same software (this is not at all unlikely). Although it's strange that you didn't get letters etc with your "scan appointments"? Have you moved house since you booked in with DS' pregnancy?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/07/2022 21:45

Here for the update 😂

GarethKeenan · 25/07/2022 21:52

Ooh, how weird!

hashbrownsandwich · 25/07/2022 21:52

Coincidentally at work today we had a patients notes sent over which were the same patients full 3 names and street name....60 years apart.

Imissmoominmama · 25/07/2022 21:54

Was your last pregnancy high risk?
