Just had very strange call from the midwife

Demanding to know why I'd missed lots of ante natal appointments and my 20 week scan and saying she was coming to see me tomorrow morning. After a slightly stunned silence I said I thought maybe she'd got the wrong person as I wasn't pregnant. According to her records, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. She's really concerned as I'm classed as high risk (true)

She had the right person - right date of birth, address, name and she was the same lovely midwife I had when I was pregnant with DS and DD. I remember her well she's a lovely woman.

She was absolutely mystified by my insistence that I am not so far as I know 25 weeks pregnant... but not quite so mystified as me by the news that I am.

DD is 16 and DS is very nearly 10 - I'm not planning another Grin

I live in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, and I'm wondering which maternity hospital in Belfast people have had the best experiences with?

Hi Emily, best to start your own thread for people to see and answer.

SaltFlakes · 25/07/2022 23:33

Contrary to popular belief I'm not dead pregnant.

Have you booked any appointments at your gp practice recently the receptionist could have still had your details up and booked you in with the midwife when it was actually another patient.
I work in a gp practice and have known it happen on the odd occasion with appointments.

That's so weird. Are you old enough to still conceive? Imagine if it was seeing into the future?

SleepingAgent · 25/07/2022 23:55

I guess it's actually a huge advantage that the midwife might know and remember you from your real, actual pregnancies before and realise the error/fraud/scam going on.

Good luck OP, flaunt your chubby tum with pride at her!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 25/07/2022 23:57

Pass the popcorn please😉

Whoactuallythinksthat · 25/07/2022 23:57

I think there are three possibilities here.
1 (boring) there has been a name/number mix up at the gp/hospital.
2 (more interesting) someone has stolen op’s identity for nefarious benefit claims/health care.
3 (really exciting) op is actually pg! She doesn’t know, but the midwife has special psychic powers and sensed it 21 weeks ago.
Ooh, I hope it’s no. 3 and op is happy to have another baby!!

listsandbudgets · 25/07/2022 23:58

Before I pop off to bed

  • No GP Appointments
  • No blood tests
  • Now worrying someone is pretending to be me and stealing benefits and registering cars and all sorts of horrific things in my name
  • I'm more likely to give birth to a naughty boy than the Messiah
  • I hope the midwife does not make prophecies or similar
  • I've checked we've still got the Moses basket stashed away in eves so one less thing to worry about.
Anyway off to bed - a pregnant 40 something needs her sleep you know.

This made me giggle 😂

My doctors had on their files that I was still pregnant 6 months after giving birth. Maybe they thought I was an elephant 😂
Obviously that's nowhere near as long as 10 years but shows systems don't get updated.

Are you 21 or 25 weeks pregnant. It says both in your post.

Hopefully neither lol

So invested in this. Can’t wait to hear how the midwife visit goes!

MarmiteCoriander · 26/07/2022 00:26

Sounds like an admin/human error OP. Did the midwife visit today?

I recently got access to view my online GP records. They had recorded that I chewed 1.26kg of chewing tobacco a day, 17yrs ago. I've never tried chewing tobacco in my life, but would think that over a KG a day is excessive or possibly deadly! I worked out that it was actually that date that I'd stopped smoking cigarettes and some sort of weird, computer glitch/wrong drop down chosen?

My last MC was in my local hospital and I specifically asked if the midwifery team would be notified- I was told yes, as they have daily meetings with them for updates. I also rang the midwifery team personally to advise I no longer needed a booking in appointment. At what would have been 13weeks- I was called to ask why I hadn't replied to any of the requests for scans! No apologies just 'oh, so you don't need the appointment then?' Well, no, I don't! 3 weeks later, I got another call asking why I hadn't attended any scans!!!

😂😂😂😂 it’s half past midnight and I’m struggling to sleep.. I’ll take both glasses of champagne and the bottle thank you 😝

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 26/07/2022 00:36

Oh dear. I’m afraid it would irritate me that the midwife didn’t believe me, and I’d have to have some fun with her. Probably best that you’re being grown up and calm and sensible TBH.
