Just had very strange call from the midwife

Demanding to know why I'd missed lots of ante natal appointments and my 20 week scan and saying she was coming to see me tomorrow morning. After a slightly stunned silence I said I thought maybe she'd got the wrong person as I wasn't pregnant. According to her records, I'm 21 weeks pregnant. She's really concerned as I'm classed as high risk (true)

She had the right person - right date of birth, address, name and she was the same lovely midwife I had when I was pregnant with DS and DD. I remember her well she's a lovely woman.

She was absolutely mystified by my insistence that I am not so far as I know 25 weeks pregnant... but not quite so mystified as me by the news that I am.

DD is 16 and DS is very nearly 10 - I'm not planning another Grin

Yes I’d go along with it too, purely for the child benefit and maternity leave as you say! 😀

pitchforksandflamethrowers · 25/07/2022 22:42

Can you imagine the horrors of you found yourself pregnant again when yours are nearly grown.

When I'm done I'm shutting the shop up permanently and having my tubes tied🤣

Joking aside op keep us updated

Could you be pregnant and have forgotten? It sounds like a great start to a thriller.

Just keep your fingers crossed that the person they have muddled you up with doesn’t need a tonsillectomy 😱OP

Bimblesalong · 25/07/2022 22:45

Gosh! What if she does find out it’s a hidden pregnancy and you have quads on the go?

Is she related to the nurse who did my hrt review this week and announced “so you’ve had a hysterectomy “, erm, no, and then went on to prescribe a different sort of hrt and then say “whoops can’t do that” as I have a coil? In my non-existent giblets. 🙄

Quia · 25/07/2022 22:47

I had a health visitor turn up demanding to see the baby when I was 37 weeks pregnant. It took a bit of work to convince her that I hadn't hidden him away and he was still safe inside me.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/07/2022 22:51

Maybe you are carrying the next Messiah.

DoubleFunMum · 25/07/2022 22:57

I had similar mix up recently with my daughter who has a VERY unusual name. Couldn't understand why her docs was saying we'd missed vaccinations but we hadn't received appointments. Turned out there is someone nearby with a very similar name (go figure!). Mistakes can happen - human error and innocent mix-up!

Maybe you are carrying the next Messiah.

Or a very naughty boy?!

ImFuminHun · 25/07/2022 22:58

I've got to follow this one!!

AtomicBlondeRose · 25/07/2022 23:00

@PriamFarrl Yes, it’s like one of those Sophie Hannah books which promise so much (and end up with a really banal ending).

berksandbeyond · 25/07/2022 23:03

That is really strange! I would definitely have to do a pregnancy test just in case if I was you 🤣

Marlena1 · 25/07/2022 23:04

My 83 year old dad recently got a reminder letter for his gynaecological appointment. His name and DOB was top of the page.

onepieceoflollipop · 25/07/2022 23:04

Regrettably errors do occur due to the humans working in the NHS!

I once worked on a mental health ward and the police were asked to assist with returning a missing patient. They did assist but the lady they brought back wasn’t the patient. They had accosted her on a bus and told her they were bringing her back. She was startled but didn’t make much fuss…

Justleaveitblankthen · 25/07/2022 23:07

Maybe it was a Glitch in the Matrix 🤓

CherrySocks · 25/07/2022 23:08

We had an ambulance crew turn up in the middle of the night, banging on the door, waking us up. We hadn't called an ambulance. They stayed parked outside for ages so they evidently didn't find out who they should have been helping.

Meeeeesh · 25/07/2022 23:10

Place marking so intriguing

PhilInt · 25/07/2022 23:12

Ask your GP practice for your last year's worth of clinical codes on your record. Could just be a data entry error (wrong code keyed).

AvocadosAreTheDevil · 25/07/2022 23:13

Something similar once happened to me, I have a run of the mill first name but quite an odd surname, and I was in hospital for pneumonia. The porter came to take me, me being typical 19 year old me at the time didn't ask a single question on my destination just let him roll my bed right on out (after confirming my name!), and it wasn't until i ended up in theatre and not the x-ray department I was vaguely thinking was my possible destination, that someone clicked I was the wrong "me", correct name, DOB 22 years difference. I was swiftly returned to my ward, and bagged myself some biscuits with my cup of tea for the inconvenience haha! Still to this day wonder who my doppleganger was, and if she's ok!

Emily867 · 25/07/2022 23:13

I live in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, and I'm wondering which maternity hospital in Belfast people have had the best experiences with?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/07/2022 23:14

listsandbudgets · 25/07/2022 22:23

It's just occurred to me that I had to have twice weekly blood tests and scans from 30 weeks onwards until I was induced at 38 weeks. If someone has actually pretended to me they've really landed themselves in it for a lot of time sitting about the hospital and having needles stuck in them...

Wonder if I'll be able to apply for the maternity leave and child benefit... thinking ahead here

Your last paragraph is actually something to look into - the woman might indeed be claiming benefits as you.

Might be worth checking that there isn't an active Universal Credit claim in your name.

mrsfoof · 25/07/2022 23:15

At least you'll get free prescriptions and dental treatment for the next year Smile

Nc830 · 25/07/2022 23:15

OP did you have any blood tests 4 ish months ago?

Twinsandsome · 25/07/2022 23:26

This is freaky OP 😫

StrandedStarfish · 25/07/2022 23:27

I would check to make sure your identity hasn’t been hijacked. We had a problem in the locality where Scallies would go through bins and sell peoples personal details to those not entitled to NHS care. They would register for care in the unsuspecting persons name. Appointments came through the app rather than letters
