Most middle class family holiday destination? (just for fun!)

I haven't spotted a middle class thread all week so thought I'd start one just for fun 😜
In your opinion what are the most middle class or umc holiday spots?
Summer:
Any part of France (extra posh if you have friends or family who have a house to put you & the kids up in!)
Italian Lakes
Greek Islands

Winter
Barbados or similar Caribbean Island
Skiing in the Austrian, Swiss or French Akps (wealthiest go to Switzerland)
Christmas markets

This is just for fun & based on the wealthier middle class families I know! They all seem to go to the same places!

HadEnoughOfBears · 21/07/2022 20:24

Scotland in a camper van probably North Coast 500.
What fun!

tobee · 21/07/2022 20:24

It used to be a gite in the Dordogne. Maybe even touring around a la Frank and Nesta Bough 😱

Dubai is so common, full of instacrap and tit tok wannabe's

itsgettingweird · 21/07/2022 20:26

Yep Norfolk and Cornwall seem to be very popular with MC families.

I worked a ski resort and that had a lot of MC families in the winter!

The UMC stayed in chalets and the MC in hotels.

Then the MC tend to do all sorts of summer resorts (also worked them!)

But the MC tend to do Sunsail, mark Warner and Neilson or in general do the 5* hotels.

Also and can't believe I forgot this one as it's quite near to me and several people I know have homes there: West Wittering! Day tripping doesn't count obvs.

I'm near witterings too.

We rarely go and haven't been for years 🤣🤣🤣

We go to Hillhead! We are NOT MC Grin

Drivebye · 21/07/2022 20:29

Thanks for this thread OP it's a great list of places to avoid. Devon or Cornwall - really! Both stunning. Frankly unless you have a family villa/gites in France and /or a ski chalet you are with the mass who call themselves MC. Frankly going on holiday and seeing lots of people you know (eg in Cornwall) is not my idea is fun!

HJ40 · 21/07/2022 20:31

Norfolk.

Dubai isn't middle class. It's nouveau riche wannabe.

I love that people have put Pembrokeshire. Tenby is sooooo MC!! North Pembs though? Completely agree!

Honestly. It’s not.

elephantbreathing · 21/07/2022 20:32

Mathias Vineyard
Los Olivos

wejammin · 21/07/2022 20:33

Center Parcs
Padstow/Rock
Abersoch
Lots of MC in my office, families go to Florence, Croatia, unspecified 'sleepy villages' in France, Sardinia.
Younger crowd go to Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Tulum, Ibiza.

We usually camp in Newquay or Anglesey, this year we're going to Jersey 😬 so maybe I'm more MC than we thought. And we've got a bell tent 😂

queenatom · 21/07/2022 20:35

The Black Forest seems to be the hot favourite with the partners at my firm at the moment.

Trust me, if you're staying for a weekend from Cardiff, Tenby seems pretty posh.

Soma · 21/07/2022 20:43

@TuxedoJunction oops. Now everyone will know about it...

SuperCamp · 21/07/2022 20:22

N Norfolk: Burnham Market, Burnham Overy Staithe, Brancaster, Blakeney. Wells if you have a beach hut.

LOL, yes, Wowo campsite. Quintessential MC Camping.

Also Old Hunstanton (pronounced Hun'stan of course) Stiffkey (Stukey) where we asked for gravy powder at the village store and were offered Boullion)

Llamasally · 21/07/2022 20:48

Surprised to see this too, not IME

Justfortherandomquestions · 21/07/2022 20:49

@MobLife @SuperCamp yes yes to Wowo in East Sussex. So funny it's been mentioned a couple of times- it's probably the most middle class campsite on earth!

Soma · 21/07/2022 20:50

Holt used to be lovely, especially Byfords' Lemon cake, but now you can't walk for estate agents.

FlibbertyGibbett · 21/07/2022 20:50

It seems I am "extra posh"! Off on Saturday to my dad's house in France for 3 weeks, planning on lounging around and swimming in lakes.

I work for the NHS and live in a council house, so definitely not middle class at all!

Llamasally · 21/07/2022 20:51

Quote didn’t happen - in reference to Pembs

wildingtree · 21/07/2022 20:53

Blackpool OP, culture and the best of the UK's artisanal fare.

I would imagine if one has to ask what defines an aspect of Britain's depressed little class system, you might not be at home with your own background. On Mumsnet, no thread concerning social class is fun or innocent, now come on.

It is the only place I ever hear people discussing it, it's all incredibly curious!

SatinHeart · 21/07/2022 20:55

The mention of Kenya and Polo stud farms as well as a few other things shocked me because they’re a big part of my life but I’m still the person who grew up in a council house in Scotland.

Mushroo · 21/07/2022 20:55

Partners in the firm I work at:

a Mediterranean yacht
North America ranch type thing with a road trip
gleneagles
Abersoch (definitely Cheshire on sea)
Slovenia seems to be a new one
weirdly, Butlins in a sort of ironic way
huge camping trips
Ikos / Sani
Maldives over Xmas
South America backpacking
Spanish walking holiday

907097gjlj · 21/07/2022 21:07

I have to ask how did camping and Croatia become a thing. I know it is - everyone has been doing it this summer but why?

We've just come back from the Italian lakes and are off to hike in the swiss alps in August
