Most middle class family holiday destination? (just for fun!)

I haven't spotted a middle class thread all week so thought I'd start one just for fun 😜
In your opinion what are the most middle class or umc holiday spots?
Summer:
Any part of France (extra posh if you have friends or family who have a house to put you & the kids up in!)
Italian Lakes
Greek Islands

Winter
Barbados or similar Caribbean Island
Skiing in the Austrian, Swiss or French Akps (wealthiest go to Switzerland)
Christmas markets

This is just for fun & based on the wealthier middle class families I know! They all seem to go to the same places!

Has anyone mentioned Centre Parcs? That’s got to be in the list.

Mennex · 21/07/2022 18:46

I said Mallorca! (Puerta Pollensa) - also, I went skiing in Meribel - god I'm a MC travel cliche!

catfunk · 21/07/2022 18:46

Puerta Pollensa, Split and North Lake District. All sponsored by Boden/Rab depending on weather.

Exploratory trekking in the Carpathians, dropping in on Bran castle for the lolls, prepping for a 'proper' hike in Nepal next spring.

(I know this family Confused)

Simonjt · 21/07/2022 18:50

Wells by the Sea?! When I was a kid it most definitely wasn’t a middle class destination, has it really changed that much in 15 years?

Wherearemymarbles · 21/07/2022 18:55

Any mark warner holiday (you can do a 2 week long haul trip for 4k less than going to mw in greece)
we went a good few years ago.
100% white. 100% of the kids privately educated
boden central!

JimmyGrimble · 21/07/2022 18:56

This makes me laugh. We used to go to Salcombe for at least four weeks each summer. I have had some lovely holidays in Puerto Pollensa, Soller, Long Island and St Agnes (IOS). This year it’s Kassiopi in Northern Corfu. My grandad was a miner. Working class aristocracy obviously.

MrsSales · 21/07/2022 19:00

My friends and I would probably be defined as middle class

some of our holiday destinations this year across my group

Cornwall
Lake Maggiore
Lyon
Nice
a villa in portugal, Cascais

Jersey or isles of scilly

Isles of Scilly yes, purely on grounds of cost of getting there.
Not Jersey - it has Easyjet flights there after all.

Mine would be any ski trip (excluding Scottish people ski-ing in Scotland), extra points for being in North America
Cornwall
Salcombe
For a day trip, West Wittering
Switzerland - again on grounds of cost as you need a second mortgage to afford the prices.

Dubai is more "new money" than middle class.

Oh, not the nouveau riche?

How very non-u.

Yipee189 · 21/07/2022 19:05

Dubai is a vile place.

Soma · 21/07/2022 19:05

A friend went to a well known North London prep open morning where parents were asked to let the school know if their winter Caribbean holiday clashed with the 4+ exams and they would arrange an alternative exam date.

Home:
Whitstable beach huts (overnight stay)
Suffolk coast
Norfolk, but certainly not Cromer
Cornwall, St Mawes, Fowey, Padstow at a push. Definitely not Newquay, unless you have teenage surfers.
Sandbanks
Scottish Highlands / Lochs

Aboard:
Sarlat
St Lucia and or Barbados
Skiing no later than February half term
France, but also with fellow prep school parents

Georgyporky · 21/07/2022 19:05

Sani resort; the kids club takes the little darlings for most of the day

MobLife · 21/07/2022 19:11

A friend of DH went camping a couple of weeks ago to Wowo in East Sussex.....said it was hands down the most middle class thing he'd ever seen 😆

Guntergleibenglauchengloben · 21/07/2022 19:11

Disneyblueeyes · 21/07/2022 18:08

Dubai

HappyHappyHermit · 21/07/2022 19:15

@Skoolsout I came on to say the same, lots of the MC mums I come across go to Centre Parcs.

Peach27 · 21/07/2022 19:16

Portstewart or parts of Donegal! MC not to be seen in Portrush haha

TuxedoJunction · 21/07/2022 19:17
