‘Strange’ smells you like.

Hi, I hope this thread is in the right place. I suppose I’m being a bit nosey, but I just wondered what smells people like that may be considered strange?

I really like the faint smell of chlorine on your skin when you’ve been swimming, and that earthy smell from when it has rained on a hot day.

the smell of helicopter fuel

I’ve never smelled helicopter fuel, but I used to like the smell of petrol when my dad was filling the car up, is it similar?

I like the smell of certain brochures/catalogues. Not sure if it’s the ink or the paper but I always have a sniff. Some of them smell rank but some have a really pleasant smell. I got quite into the smell of brown paper bags during one of my pregnancies so maybe it’s related to that.

Brasso and certain metallic spray paints.

I had a violin as a child, loved the smell when i opened the case. Shame by parents decided i was never going to be any good and just gave it away. Would love to smell it again.

my sweat infused leather watchstrap - I do enjoy a nice, deep sniff before I go to bed!

Yes love the smell of some magazines too, specially ones with perfume testers etc.

Garages that are chockablock of old metal toys and tricycles etc. do a kind of oil and old metal smell. Reminds me of a relatives amazing garage.

This is weird but drain smells in the city when it's hot remind me of countries I've visited, so even though it's not a nice smell, it's reminiscent of amazing times I have had.

New carpet and muddy leaves after the rain for that earthy smell

Tennis balls and tyres. I take a big sniff when I walk past the garage near me on a hot day. Mmmmm, rubbery!

New carpets, tarmac, creosote, three week old puppies, and cow muck.

I love the smell of fuel that racing cars use and I also love that faint whiff of bins you get in France as it reminds me of childhood holidays! Not full on bin smell, just a mild odour.

Incognito bug spray. I think it’s mostly citronella. I’d wear it as perfume but DP hates it 🤣

Petrol, the woody smell at b&q, newspapers, new books.

I like the smell of petrol as it takes me straight back to my father asking the BP garage attendant to fill up the car. Actually not filling it but 'Three gallons of Three Star and three shots of Redex, please.'
