‘Strange’ smells you like.

Hi, I hope this thread is in the right place. I suppose I’m being a bit nosey, but I just wondered what smells people like that may be considered strange?

I really like the faint smell of chlorine on your skin when you’ve been swimming, and that earthy smell from when it has rained on a hot day.

The leaves of tomato plants

Musty library books

Fire lighters, parafin( not sure if is still available) burning wood

Factory engine oil. My late dad used to smell of it when I was a child. A rare smell indeed.

Creosote and petrol. I've always loved creosote but you don't seem to smell it anywhere any more

I think creosote has been banned - could be wrong though.

Brand new tennis balls.🤗The smell of my dog’s paws. I’d sniff my cat’s paws too if he would let me. Would probably end up with half of my face missing if I tried.

I also like coal fired engine aroma from a steam train, takes me back to my youth in the Swiss alps.

The musky iron-y scent you get during your period - sorry if TMI, but it's so earthy and so...womanly...

I like the smell of ferrets.

Tarmac when it's being poured and laid is my main one.

Different aromas from various plants with bees humming around

Car engine oils, that's used engine oil, as when younger early teens, usually helped attempting to fix car engines

Sometimes fresh cut grass but that varies.

Various smells of people smoking different strengths or varieties of a particular plant. Especially on a cold winter day.

Petrol

I think both petrol and creosote must have changed their composition, I feel nostalgic for their previous stronger smells. Tar and petrichor are reliable still! I wonder what it is that makes so many of us swoon for these?

Swarfega ( might be spelt wrong) was an industrial bright green gel that my dad used to use to get grease and engine oil off his hands. I’d love a tub of that if they still make it.
