I mean photos at the scene rather than from the funeral. Upper body intact, lower not (very gruesome). Seen reports her head was detached (sorry, this is awful). And in the casket you can't see her arms etc, it's just her head which has been made up whixh good embalmers and artists can do. I do think it's her.

OP posts:
notimagain · 23/08/2022 19:22

The photos I've seen look very well for someone who was blown up. Not that I'm any expert in these things.

It's grim stuff but it all depends on the mechanisms involved, so I don't think the images proves anything one way or the other.

PerfectlyPreservedQuagaarWarrior · 23/08/2022 19:26

Oh, I haven't seen the ones from the scene. As I say I don't know anything much about this, I think the shadier thing is her parents.

MagicFox · 23/08/2022 19:31

Yes her father is awful.

It is now the 24th August in Ukraine and it's Independence Day.

May God grant Strength to Ukraine, grant Her Victory and bless Her Future 💛💙

The wiki on Foundations of Geopolitics, Alexander Dugin's book is worth a read, it shows what kind of influences Putin has.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics

From Foundations of Geopolitics:

Ukraine should be annexed by Russia because "Ukraine as a state has no geopolitical meaning, no particular cultural import or universal significance, no geographic uniqueness, no ethnic exclusiveness, its certain territorial ambitions represents an enormous danger for all of Eurasia and, without resolving the Ukrainian problem, it is in general senseless to speak about continental politics". Ukraine should not be allowed to remain independent, unless it is cordon sanitaire, which would be inadmissible.

The United Kingdom, merely described as an "extraterritorial floating base of the U.S.", should be cut off from Europe...I think he is perfectly describing Brexit here

In the United States:
Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and separatism, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists". Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics" ...US has been very divided in the last few years

Here's to Ukraine's continuing independence.

katem98 · 24/08/2022 09:09

Have I missed something?! Is he feeling ok?

"Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko has somewhat surprisingly congratulated the Ukrainian people on their Independence Day.
Belarus has been Russia's main ally in its invasion and allowed Russian troops to enter Ukraine through its border.
"I am convinced that today's disagreements will not be able to destroy the centuries-old foundation of sincere, good-neighbourly relations between the peoples of the two countries," says Lukashenko.
He adds that Belarus will continue to stand for "preservation of agreement, development of friendly and mutually respectful contacts at all levels".
The Belarusian leader also wishes Ukrainians "a peaceful sky, tolerance, bravery, strength and success in restoring a dignified life"."

I suspect that Lukashenko thought he could sup with the Devil with a long spoon and keep his independence. Now he's finding otherwise.

But I also can't help suspecting this is just words, and we know what the words of Putin and his allies are worth. He's just picked up the breathtaking (to people who value honesty) ability to lie that the Kremlin swims in.

To Ukraine's independence day!

ISW Key Takeaways

Russian government sources confirmed that Russian authorities are bringing Ukrainian children to Russia and having Russian families adopt them. The forcible transfer of children from one group to another “with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group” is a violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Russian authorities are deploying security forces to Luhansk Oblast likely in response to waning support for the war and growing unwillingness to fight among Luhansk residents. This deployment diverts these forces from operations elsewhere in Ukraine, likely contributing to the broader Russian failure to translate limited tactical gains into operational successes.

Russian officials may have conducted a false flag event in Donetsk City to justify attacks against Ukrainian government buildings on Ukrainian Independence Day.

Russian forces conducted limited ground attacks northeast and south of Bakhmut, on the northwestern outskirts of Donetsk City, and southwest of Donetsk City.

Russian forces made limited gains east of Mykolaiv City and in northwestern Kherson Oblast.

Ukrainian forces continued to strike Russian military assets and ground lines of communication (GLOCs) in Kherson Oblast.

Russian federal subjects (regions) are continuing to increase one-time enlistment bonuses for recruits, and are likely recruiting personnel with no prior military experience for specialist positions.

Ukrainian partisan activity continues to disrupt Russian occupation activities.

Unverifiable sources reported that axis commanders in Ukraine are reporting directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin, bypassing both the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov in the chain of command. (there was a report before the Putin is running the war directly).

Quoting the rest of this:

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence, this is a new method to create the desired "picture" to manipulate public opinion. The Zaporizhzhia TPS is located next to the Nuclear Power Plant.

Ash dumps are places where the ash, generated during the operation of the thermal power station is stored. This waste has a high concentration of toxic substances and a radiation level that is at least 2.5 times higher than the natural background. When drying, they form dust, which can travel considerable distances.

The 2nd two don't take into account Finland and Sweden joining, nor Russian losses I believe, nor China's increased military spending. Still, gives an idea.

Re Belarus, my Belarus friend said a while back (as he applied for UK citizenship…) that a lot of countries have fought a lot of other countries in that region but Belarus has never fought Ukraine and most people aren’t going to want it to start now.
Despite Lukashenko’s recent stances friendship between the two is a long tradition.

What does your friend think of the general feeling in Belorus, pro-Russia/Lukashenko or anti-both?
