Sunak saying he's honest!Hmm

ancientgran · 15/07/2022 19:40

I help out in a local care home and can I just say they aren't all awful. If I ever need care I would be happy to be in that home. Today one resident was taken out for a social visit to see someone she knew, another who loves the open top buses we have here at the seaside was excitedly going out with another carer for her trip. All the residents help with meals as they are able, that might be peeling some veg or helping to lay the table and the staff sit down and have meals with them and the meals are good. It isn't a luxury place, cheaper than many and the owner is great.

At the moment because of the heat they are having lots of ice lols, lots of care to make sure they have sun screen and hats if they are out and they all love the resident cat.

Tom was making army references a lot
Rishi is very polished. No tie

cakeorwine · 15/07/2022 19:45

I might have just shouted fuck off at the TV

L1ttledrummergirl · 15/07/2022 19:49

Good question. Is Boris Johnson honest? Only one person answered honestly without trying to fudge the question. Three guesses as to who.

It was a closed question, a yes or no will suffice. They didn't come across as very bright for not being able to understand a simple question.

newnamethanks · 15/07/2022 19:57

'Raise your hand, audience members, if you trust politicians'. Not. One. Hand.

Downnotdown · 15/07/2022 19:57

I'm really interested in hearing what they've got to say but I just can't bring myself to watch it. Car crash waiting to happen.

Roussette · 15/07/2022 20:27

Just tuned in, we've had friends over with lots of Wine. Tuning in to sober up.

Liz with a pussy bow. Shock

Pussy bows just remind me of Dolores Umbridge ( Harry Potter )

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2022 20:36

I wanted to not like Rishi Sunak, but he isn't coming across that badly really

Roussette · 15/07/2022 20:43

On Sunak... yes, if it ends up as Truss or Sunak, it would be him. For the good of the country.

OP posts:
newnamethanks · 15/07/2022 20:46

Nothing about housing. Shocking.

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2022 20:48

Housing isn't that important to them I suppose ( some own more than others)
They can only answer the questions put to them I suppose.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 20:57

Watching on +1.

Did PM just say even if she had a vasectomy she'll still be a woman 🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 21:09

What a mess that was. Only one anywhere close to good enough and he’s about to get knocked out.

I'm only 50 minutes in and apart from putting KB and PM the opposite way round I agree.

PM absolutely is flopping IMO.

It's a shame this'll mean nothing because they'll still get voted for by their boys club deals rather than the actually ability to debate and run a country!

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 21:23

You beat me to it @Notonthestairs. I thought Tugendhat was best by a country mile.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 21:26

Blossomtoes · 15/07/2022 21:23

So far for me he is too.

But as he's unlikely to get the boys as much as it pains me I think it's going to have to be Sunak.

The only other close in the race was Mordaunt and she's not doing well.

Badenoch is a good speaker but she's too far right and Truss never actually gives a clear answer.

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2022 21:26

I think Tom T will go next.
Liz Truss isn't that old, but next to the other women she appeared dated and a bit odd looking. She needs to lighten up a bit.
They didn't really give any hope about anything either. I think Rishi will be better with the economy, but that's not a surprise really.
Daily Mail readers want Boris back.

newnamethanks · 15/07/2022 21:34

Yes, Tom T who's not in with a chance was able to answer honestly. Next in the honesty stakes was Kemi B then Rishi S. The other 2, still obfuscating and faffing. 'Is BJ honest?' "Er. . . " sickening pair.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 21:36

I agree Kemi seems honest but she's hiding her true far right side quite well.

She'll do cut budgets to education etc and wonder why we don't have a workforce able to earn high wages and bring something to the country to improve our finances in the next decade.

I simply wouldn't ever vote for her due to what she said about schools.

Roussette · 15/07/2022 21:41

What is so so so depressing is... we watch this, we comment on it on a forum and elsewhere and we have absolutely no chance to vote on it.

It's decided by 160,000 Tory party members. It's not right. They are more than half over 50, white, and upper or middle class.

We have no hope.

My vote is Tugendhat but I don't get a vote.

the80sweregreat · 15/07/2022 21:42

Education wasn't mentioned or housing.
Tom praising the lady doctor was waiting for applause that didn't come at one point too
It was all a bit awkward and painful at times
