'If you are a sex pest or even an alleged rapist it takes days to make the same decision'

Well yes allegations do need investigating before action is taken however we know Ellwood had allegedly been asked to return to vote. He has continually moaned and whinged he needs to join Keith's team.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 18:17

Moaned and whinged about what?

borntobequiet · 19/07/2022 18:21

Uh?

@JaniieJones are you saying that a teacher who has an allegation against them should remain teaching until such a time, often years later the investigation is concluded?

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 18:30

Apologies for missing key vote.

Air travel chaos, after meet with the Moldova President, prevented return. Saddened to lose the whip.

I carry on - good to be in ODESA and meet the impressive Mil Governor Marchenko to seek ways of re-opening the port & get that vital grain out.

He was working. There's footage of him in Moldova. Don't be ridiculous.

You are so wrong

But there you go... you're happy with the long time it took to remove the Whip from a repeated sex pest.

You need to look at the context of the posts really. The pp said it was days before Pincher had the whip removed I replied yes correct process including asking a few questions is surely appropriate. Are you going to bizarrely go off on a tangent bout teachers like you have burglars for the last 6 months?

So you wouldn't suspend a teacher immediately then

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 18:39

Well at least she voted

Priti Patel has told the Home Affairs Committee she's not available to answer their questions tomorrow. The watchdog committee of MPs had said it was "extremely disappointing" she belatedly cancelled last week and expected her to face scrutiny before summer recess. She won't.

AndreaC74 · 19/07/2022 18:47

@JaniieJones
Ellwood is a hapless, wet drip

I'm confused now, i have always believed the Tories stood shoulder to shoulder with our military (or they say they do) but now they are name called and told to fuck off to the opposition.

Its not just the weather that is extreme is it?

Ah, so Priti is a coward.

makes sense, most bullies are.

Nope, in any normal organisation, any person accused would be suspended on full pay, without prejudice, informal investigation made, charges dismissed or further formal inquiries conducted.

BJ wanted to keep his mate & like his hero Trump sees nothing wrong with sexually abuse/groping.

Fortunately, even the Tory party realised this was wrong.

Quia · 19/07/2022 18:56

SueSaid · 19/07/2022 15:26

Ellwood is a hapless, wet drip far better suited to the opposition benches so lets hope he does cross the floor. Good on BJ for doing wbat he did, making a stand to the weasel.

'They’re all utterly grotesque, but some are infinitesimally less grotesque than others.'

None of the candidates are 'grotesque'. Not ideal, no. Not to worry BJ might be back in the future you mustn't lose hope!

So what do you think about his failure to make a stand against appointing a sex predator and leaving him with the whip when he was caught out in predatory sexual behaviour?

But previous allegations against Pincher had already been investigated and found to be true even before he was appointed. Do you think that in those circumstances it was appropriate to put him in a position of power over junior members of the party and officials?

Pincher admitted what he had done. How long does it take to investigate in those circumstances?

Not only that but a group of MPs who were there were asked by Johnson why they didn’t stop him. One of them mentioned it in his resignation speech.

Quia · 19/07/2022 19:17

I doubt that Ellwood is too gutted about losing the whip. The recess is imminent, and it's highly likely that whoever the new PM is, the whip will be restored to him very quickly in September. Apart from anything else, they won't want to risk him crossing the floor or being outside the tent pissing in.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 10:41

Video from Nov 21

This is a Conservative MP questioning Johnson over defence spending. An incredible exchange with @Tobias_Ellwood. No grasp of the specifics, a refusal to answer or even engage, bad-tempered, hectoring.
twitter.com/BestForBritain/status/1461044674550972421?t=8-pPPn_dCrGygz3l5I-7NQ&s=19

Bloody hell.

That's the worst bumbling I've ever seen from Johnson - he didn't string 1 sentence together in the first 3 minutes.

itsgettingweird · 19/07/2022 19:26

DowningStreetParty · 19/07/2022 12:14

Johnson returned the whip to 10 of the 19 MPs that he punished for voting the wrong way on Brexit in September 2019 when he was a relatively new PM and he thought needed to kick out Brexit-moderate and experienced and intelligent Conservative MPs from the party. That’s arguably where a lot of his problems today have come from because he has consistently surrounded himself with much lower ability people who he promoted only because he could count on them to be loyal, whatever he did. Not a healthy way to run a country.

Doing that Brexit purge in 2019 was an outrageous thing to do, but Johnson’s got form for using removing the whip as a weapon to set an example to others. It looks like its about immediate punishment and not actually about principle with him, if in many cases he later reverses it.

Good summary.

And that's probably why pincher kept the whip despite his behaviour - because he'll stand at Johnson's side.

The more this drags on the more we get to see just how corrupt our government are.

itsgettingweird · 19/07/2022 19:36

i can’t decide if you or jgw1 are better at this

JGW1 is far the better of the 2. She has just the right amount of dry humour to leave people with seeing if she sarcastic or serious.

Janiie now just types very nasty things in an attempt at humour and just does it for attention. Quite sad really.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 19/07/2022 19:46

I've just seen that and it's actually brought me to tears. The inhumanity of this government is terrifying. They aren't just of a different political opinion, they are absolute monsters.

ClaudineClare · 19/07/2022 19:51

Something I have wondered. Why do people call Keir Keith? All the gammon on Twatter do it, as if they are being highly original and amusing. I don't get what the joke is.

itsgettingweird · 19/07/2022 19:52

That was a shocking read.

No wonder she won't answer and keeps cancelling.

I don't know what's more scary for our future.

What they're trying to do or the fact they're trying to erode our rights to do anything to question challenge and stop it.
