Here is the old thread... let's keep on top of what's going on!

I quoted an Emma Kennedy tweet but forgot to post the link.

Not sure what is wrong with 'bloody hell' as an expression of shock.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 09:48

Johnson also had a go at Baroness Hale yesterday

Johnson (attempting some absurd Churchillian delivery) “with iron determination we saw off Brenda Hale”. Baroness Hale: a member of our independent Supreme Court judiciary. I have no words.

Why 'bloody hell'? I don't understand your post.

You find Britain First a far right, fascist organisation evolved out of the BNP, endorsing a candidate for Tory PM and urging its members to vote for her... ok?

I don't.

Bloody hell.

There's nothing wrong with 'bloody hell'. Explain why you're shocked.

Notonthestairs · 19/07/2022 09:51

I dunno maybe she's shocked because most people wouldn't want the endorsement of a far right fascist party with a leader charged under the Terrorism Act? (amongst many other charges).

Bloody hell.

Are you implying that Kemi Badenoch holds far right fascist views?

@derxa I happen to agree with you on this. There is nothing shocking about one far right group endorsing someone else from the far right.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 09:56

Explain why I am shocked by an endorsement of Britain First?

jgw1 · 19/07/2022 09:57

derxa · 19/07/2022 09:52

Are you implying that Kemi Badenoch holds far right fascist views?

Does she support deporting some of the most vulnerable people in the country to somewhere else 1000s of miles away?

Does she support the abolition of our human rights with the proposed UK leaving of the ECHR?

Does she support the clamp down on our right to protest, including to simply make noise on the street?

Notonthestairs · 19/07/2022 09:58

If a party/group endorses a candidate then presumably they feel that candidate is the best person to promote the closest (not necessarily the identical) agenda to their own.

Otherwise why bother to endorse them?

They could have chosen to reject all of the candidates or remain silent.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 09:59

Are you implying that Kemi Badenoch holds far right fascist views?

Are you implying this isn't a possibility?

I would expect a prospective candidcate for PM to denounce this group, that's what I would expect.

But we've sunk so low, people think this is OK

No. She could have far right fascist views.

Roussette · 19/07/2022 10:15

You OK with that?

She has a chance of winning. Are you happy with that?

Ellwood has had whip removed for not voting in Tory VONC.

Notonthestairs · 19/07/2022 10:20

Sky says there are 12 Tory MPs who didn't vote in the VONC - will they all have the Whip removed?

Notonthestairs · 19/07/2022 10:25

Penny has just dropped that Ellwood now can't vote in the leadership elections.

If they don't remove the Whip from the other non voters it rather looks like a grudge issue between Johnson & Ellwood.

DuncinToffee · 19/07/2022 10:27

Derxa did you read Badenoch's article where she blames immigration and single parents for the housing shortage?

derxa · 19/07/2022 10:27

Why is it ridiculous for me to assume that when you seem OK with a fascist organisation promoting her to win?
(and pick up on someone saying 'bloody hell' about it.)

It's even worse

Tobias Ellwood was in Moldova as part of his role as Chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee. For this he has lost the whip.

Chris Pincher's whip meanwhile, remains merely suspended.

Adam Bienkov

Isn't it just. I think it is pure spite.

Something tells me BJ is going to cause trouble from the backbenches, and if he loses his seat (which he probably will, he has a slim majority), he is going to write articles to undermind the british government whoever they are.
He is Trump like. He's been usurped. He is holding grudges and will cause trouble.

Video from Nov 21

This is a Conservative MP questioning Johnson over defence spending. An incredible exchange with @Tobias_Ellwood. No grasp of the specifics, a refusal to answer or even engage, bad-tempered, hectoring.

Sigh. I'm not 'happy with it'. It's absolutely nothing to do with me. I don't want KB to win and she won't.
