I know the next Conservative leader will not be as bad

I wouldn’t bank on it. They could be just as bad in a different way.

I think we can all agree given the candidates that the next Conservative leader will be bad.

'And Dorries was shrieking like a loon, with a button undone on her blouse.'

'Shrieking like a loon with a button undone' yet when I say Ange bellows like a fishwife and has overdone ringlets I get told off. One rule for you and another for me. Tut tut.

borntobequiet · 18/07/2022 18:30

Poor SirBeer stumbling and stuttering like a nervous schoolboy. Public speaking isn't his thing is it.

What nonsense.

Yes, you're totally right.

Angela Rayner isn't a Minister, and doesn't sit there dishevelled bellowing 'you're boring' at Johnson on the other side of the despatch box.
I think she must've been on the sauce a bit early, it was very embarrassing

Boris Johnson is not "the worst sort of mass murderer and criminal in political history," says Conservative MP Sir Edward Leigh.

That's ok then

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 18:34

Did Leigh really say that? Bloody hell.

Jesus, did you see the look Johnson gave Dorries? Of all the people you don’t want on your side.

L1ttledrummergirl · 18/07/2022 18:50

I'm watching the confidence debate. Although it's interesting listening to the views, for me the interesting part will be the result, and being able to see which MPs have integrity, honour and a sense of morality.

Any conservative MP who voted against Johnson in the conservative vote of confidence should have the courage of their convictions and do so again, after all it hasn't got any better. I expect no more than 211 to have confidence in this government, anything else would mean that they were either lying then or lying now.
At least this time we can see how each MP has voted.

ClaudineClare · 18/07/2022 18:55

Dorries looks a bit dishevelled as well as a bit pissed. Johnson clearly holds her in contempt. Now she has served her purpose, he can let his true feelings about her show.

the80sweregreat · 18/07/2022 19:01

It's become nothing but a rabble these days in parliament.
Boris Johnson as Maverick is oddly right in a strange way. His always been one.

ClaudineClare · 18/07/2022 19:02

What time is the actual vote?

Blossomtoes · 18/07/2022 19:03

Results of the vote at 8.

HarrietPierce · 18/07/2022 19:03

Here you are JaniieJones. Johnson got all the big calls wrong.

Is that not the leadership vote? Rather than the voc?

It is. Sorry, got my wires crossed.

ClaudineClare · 18/07/2022 19:11

Thanks.

Notonthestairs · 18/07/2022 19:11

Good grief, that video of Dorries.

"I expect no more than 211 to have confidence in this government, anything else would mean that they were either lying then or lying now."

I was thinking similar L1ttledrummergirl.

DuncinToffee · 18/07/2022 19:16

Well said Jess Phillips

When the Labour Party was having a leadership election a contest every candidate was rightly asked what they would to deal with anti-semitism…I’d like to know what Rishi Sunak did when Chris Pincher was appointed dep chief whip. What Liz Truss did?”

“I want to know what all the candidates did. And I want to know what the Conservative party is going to do to deal with its institutional inability to deal with complaints about sexual harassment.”

jgw1 · 18/07/2022 19:17

Shrieking like a loon appears to me to be quite a polite description.

Why does Boris look so grumpy?

Hangover from the weekend and Dorries - because she has blindly supported him - feels she can do what she wants, including bellowing at the opposition benches. Even BJ might be a tad embarrassed by her fishwife impression.

He looked very pissed off with her. I hope her constituents are taking note.

itsgettingweird · 18/07/2022 19:41

Its just a bit hot out I'm indoors on my tablet, thought I'd see if we've moved on from Bozo waaaaah he had a party but seemingly not.

You really need to keep up.

We are now Johnson has had to resign after the most number of ministers resigning in a 24 hour period and more lies coming out - which were actually confirmed by him telling the truth at the 1922 committee that day. (Oh the irony!!!)

What I find most illuminating is that some of the PM wannabes registered their websites in December and some started theirs just after the garden party photos were released.

Seems a lot of them were with us the whole time Grin

itsgettingweird · 18/07/2022 19:46

Blimey. Catching up.

Dorries in HOC ShockShockShockShock

I'd be embarrassed to behave like that as an adult let alone knowing it's televised!

I went back to work today so I'm missing all the time politics fun.
