No way. Completely unnecessary and totally impractical.

Lazypuppy · 12/07/2022 14:58

No

rockywilderness · 12/07/2022 14:59

Depends on the style - sporty ones make it way easier to go to the loo if you're planning on a day by the pool/beach?

Suddha · 12/07/2022 14:59

Absolutely not. Shocked you’d even consider it?!

Cameronnorrieisabitofalright · 12/07/2022 15:00

Perfectly fine.

MollyRover · 12/07/2022 15:01

I hate them but they are practical for going to the toilet. Wish they would make tankinis more of a thing!!

Dogtooth · 12/07/2022 15:02

Noooo

Better trunks than a bikini, bikini tops are for putting tits in!

Ncwinc · 12/07/2022 15:02

No, rash vest and bottoms or a tankini where the bottom of the top meets the waist band of the bottoms. They give good sun protection and are easier than a one piece when they need the loo.

floweringpoppies · 12/07/2022 15:04

Mine were in rash vests and still like rash vest and shorts as they feel comfy in it. Much more practical

Youess · 12/07/2022 15:04

Tbh I would have said a resounding no with my first.

My second is desperate to be like her big sister though (6 year age gap) and I’m leaning towards why not? It’s convenient to go to the toilet and if she likes it then what’s the issue?

Ruffelo · 12/07/2022 15:05

No. They need much better sun protection

Mythril · 12/07/2022 15:05

My 6 year old wears tankinis. Easy to use the loo but a more covered look.

BlooberryBiskits · 12/07/2022 15:05

Why not bikini bottoms & a rash vest like PP suggests: nice and practical

is your 5 yo asking for one /has someone given you this?

Thursday37 · 12/07/2022 15:05

It’s a hard no here. Tankini, rash vest or bare top fine. Bikins on small children are hideous.

BlooberryBiskits · 12/07/2022 15:07

Also trunks is a fine idea if you’d prefer a bit of coverage - I have a pair myself! (I cut the ‘mesh’ out, but I imagine little boys trunks don’t have them). I use those for waterskiing etc as I like a bit more cover myself

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/07/2022 15:08

Unless by bikini you mean a thong and two tiny triangles attached to some string, then a bikini or tankini is much easier for using the toilet and undressing than a cold, wet one piece.

notacooldad · 12/07/2022 15:08

Genuine question.
When did it become not acceptable for girls not to have bikinis and for it to be shocking to ask if they can wear them.
I'm out of touch clearly,as I only had biys but we gave photos of the kids and their cousins in the paddling pool in our garden from about 10/12 tears ago and the littlies had bikinis on , like their big sisters.
I remember being very young and having an absolute favourite bikini and there's pictures of me at Blackpool aged 6 wearing it.

balalake · 12/07/2022 15:10

No

Berlinlover · 12/07/2022 15:11

Absolutely not.

Spohn · 12/07/2022 15:12

Why do you ask? Pretty lazy OP.

lastminutedotcom22 · 12/07/2022 15:13

Nooooo

Went to the next sale last Saturday there was loads of them so must be a general view they're hideous on young kids

Only a handful of sunsafws too they always sell out

This. Maximum sun protects, still being able to wee, not making toddlers look like weird American beauty pageant contestants.
