Suella de'vil and Steve ( extreme sports) Baker on sky news
He always looks so pleased with himself that one.

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2022 14:09

Tom is a bit of a warmonger I think
' I invaded another country' he told the lovely Sophy ridge on Sunday .. ( naughty thing I've done)
he seems itching to invade another one. Not keen on him at all.

itsgettingweird · 13/07/2022 14:28

See...... it took 4 minutes for someone to have something negative about him.

Last thing we need is someone who would do something stupid over Russia.

tobee · 13/07/2022 14:30

Feel all uneasy today. Especially reading that Boris Johnson said at Pmq he will leave with his head held high.

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2022 14:42

Mordant is busy rewriting her own history (eg Turkey in the EU) and lie to our faces.
Badenoch's opinion piece in the Times was frankly word soup gibberish. She's been a minister throughout the scandals and shenanigans with Johnson and never spoken out. And don't get me started on superfluous school staff and insistence on whole class learning.
Sunak is more austerity.
Tugendhat does focus on defence - not see anything from him on cost of living (ditto all other candidates).
Truss doesn't appear to be allowed to speak to anyone.

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2022 14:46

That was only my negative though !
I don't know Tom, but I can only go by how he came across in one interview and Sophy doesn't push people like others do
What his views are on other tings I don't know , he seemed keen to go on about defense ( fair enough )
He seems better than Suella or Hunt

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2022 14:46

Things not tings

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2022 14:58

We'll hear about the first round of voting at 5pm.

Some MPs seem to be putting more thought in to it than others...

"Just asked Sir Geoffrey Cox who he is voting for.

He booms: “I can’t possibly say. I haven’t even decided yet. Bernard will tell me.”

Bernard Jenkin mouths: “Suella” with a wink."

🙄

Defences are important but so is the other stuff.

He probably has a point about defence when it came to light at 1922 last week the Johnson is giving our weapons away faster than we can replace them.

But it's part if a wider issue.

I'm not sure any of our current candidates actually can balance the books (promised tax cuts) or understand the real life effects of austerity and cost of living enough to actually be able to act for those who need them to.

Just seen that BJ is tabling his own VONC in the tory government. He needs to stop playing silly buggers and just fuck off.

Mirror is saying it is a vote of confidence

BREAKING Tories will hold confidence vote in their own government after furious spat with Labour

WTF is this nonsense

"I'm not sure any of our current candidates actually can balance the books (promised tax cuts) or understand the real life effects of austerity and cost of living enough to actually be able to act for those who need them to."

This is key.

Cornettoninja · 13/07/2022 13:31

I’ve got it on my watch list. Is it in the same vein as brexit: the untold story? (I think that’s what it’s called - Benedict cumberbatch so should be pretty easy to find)

I don’t care that it ‘appears’ vengeful or whatever, I want Boris Johnson properly scrutinised. The Lebedev admissions warrant it alone imho.

I haven't watched the brexit one so can't compare.
I will look it up to put on my 'to watch' list, thanks.

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2022 15:50

Vote against them selves then!

the80sweregreat · 13/07/2022 15:52

Oh I read that wrong , sorry !!
Vote of confidence!!

DuncinToffee · 13/07/2022 16:04

Labour putting out a very punch attack ad about Tory candidates’ tax status - basically ‘they put up your taxes while avoiding their own’.

this is post-brexit land though isn’t it? Make loose promises that sound good and you can just ignore later on when you can’t make good.

Notonthestairs · 13/07/2022 16:30

I think it's actually make wild uncosted promises and then blame Blair/Corbyn/Putin for not delivering.

itsgettingweird · 13/07/2022 16:34

Just watched PMQs. Starmer gets better every week. He'll eat some of the new list alive.

What was all the noise about before it started?

Cornettoninja · 13/07/2022 16:42

@itsgettingweird

Extract of the mp’s letter circulated after they left

The decision taken by you, in the dying days of your Premiership, to reject out of hand the request for a Section 30 order which would allow a consented and legal independence referendum to take place is an egregious affront to Scottish democracy and to the people of Scotland

Here we go

tobee · 13/07/2022 17:00

Place your bets! Who's going to go first?

tobee · 13/07/2022 17:02

Hunt & Zahawi

How many MPs went for mordaunt after the YouGov poll?

DuncinToffee · 13/07/2022 17:03

Sunak 88
Mordaunt 67
Truss 50
Badenoch 40
Braverman 32
Hunt 18
Zahawi 25
Tugendhat 37

Hunt Zahawi out

itsgettingweird · 13/07/2022 17:03

What's with the table banging?

It really is an odd club with strange traditions which aren't becoming for people with such power.
