What’s the tiniest thing about your home that you love?

And I do mean tiniest- location, size etc don’t matter. Just the one little thing that makes you smile.

For me, it’s my kitchen window. No matter what the weather is outside, opening that window always seems to just let in the gentlest of breezes.

My bedroom - just seems to have an air of serenity.
It's not decorated well so it's not down to that- it just has a calm atmosphere.

My internal front door (It's a flat in a house conversion). We bought a new door this year and it looks lovely and doesn't jam when the keys go in or drop off the hinges and get stuck.

JanglyBeads · 02/07/2022 14:52

The walls I painted myself, having had no previous experience. They look good!

OompaLoompaa · 02/07/2022 14:55

My granite worktop and my dolls house.

My 'smart' sitting room. It's a haven of peace for me and I always feel a sense of deep calm whenever I go in there. We don't use it much in the evenings during the summer as it doesn't have a TV, but in the winter it comes into its own because we like to light the fire, and then tend to find ourselves reading or playing games in there. To me, the room is full of happy memories, particularly at Christmas, and I think they have become absorbed into its four walls!

Window seats. Even when I’ve had a bad day, I always feel a bit better when I sit there and look out.
Our dogs have their own bedroom and I still smile every time I walk past and they’re asleep under their duvets. 😂

MrsMoastyToasty · 02/07/2022 15:01

The stained glass in my front door. It's original 1930s in a sunburst design.

Beachsidesunset · 02/07/2022 15:02

My wood burning stove. There's something very primitive and calming about an open fire.

ItisallPooh · 02/07/2022 15:04

My carpet on my stairs. I always wanted a tartan carpet on the stairs and was so happy when we got one!

Babdoc · 02/07/2022 15:08

Couldn’t pick just one thing. It’s all of it. The view of the Sidlaw hills from the windows, the smell of roses, honeysuckle and lavender from the garden, the open log fire in winter, my cat curled up on my
late PIL’s antique Persian rug, my new upstairs bathroom (after 40 years of the old one!), the Victorian dressing table bought for a fiver for our old slum tenement flat when DH and I were students… but mainly the lovely memories of living here with DH who died 30 years ago.

StrugglingPianist · 02/07/2022 15:08

My reading chair. It’s in a sunny corner of our hall and I can spend hours curled up in it lost in a book. It’s from the 1970s and is hideous in a charming way and so very comfortable too. It turned a dead corner into my favourite spot in the house.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 02/07/2022 15:09

My kitchen tiles still cheer me up every time I walk in.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 02/07/2022 15:10

So many things, it is hard to pick one! If I did I would have to say I love my living/dining room. I love looking out of the front window. It is on a main road, but you wouldn't know. There is a beautiful Cherry Blossom tree right outside, and lots of lovely greenery in my front garden. You can open the patio doors at the back and listen to birdsong all day long whilst staring at fabulous greenery. The whole room floods with light, and is just a beautiful pleasant place to be. I'm moving for more space, but for me, nothing compares to this lovely 1930s semi. Most other houses in this area with more space are the 1960s onwards kind of houses. Lack in any character. 😔

My kitchen armchair. I sit and think of all the wonderful people and happy times we have shared in this space together

IllDoItButOnlyForTheAttention · 02/07/2022 15:12

Lots to choose from, not because my home is amazing, but because it's the first one I've ever owned and been able to choose my own furniture and decor.

I'll go for the trunk I bought recently to go at the end of my bed. It looks perfect and the room is so much tidier now, as all my chunky knitwear that can't be hung and that there isn't room for in my drawers goes in there and no longer lives in a heap on the armchair 🥳

Can't believe it took me so long to think of, but now I feel happy every time I see it there.

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 02/07/2022 15:13

The view. Fields and big big skies instead of other houses going on forever and a tiny strip of sky.

Charlavail · 02/07/2022 15:15

Having a parking space. Parking at my last two places caused me so much stress and anxiety. It was on the road parking but with complicated time limits and houses having multiple cars which wasn't the case when the houses were built. This was especially bad when DD was a baby and at daycare all day and I was working full time with DH away. I would spend so much time driving round and round looking for a space after a tiring day with a crying baby. I feel stressed and upset still thinking about it.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/07/2022 15:16

Open fire

The most amazing snuggly feeling watching it in winter (eco logs as in a smokeless zone)

Ilovesriracha · 02/07/2022 15:18

The lovely open views after living somewhere just looking at other houses and brick walls.
Also the beautiful sparrows who nest and fledge in my eaves every year.

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/07/2022 15:18

My little craft room. It has shelves with all the different yarns and a cupboard with accessories and a comfy sofa.

lurkingfromhome · 02/07/2022 15:19

The sunsets and rainbows. Every night for six months of the year the sunsets we can see from the house are breathtaking, and somehow I've seen more rainbows since moving to this house than I've seen in the whole of the rest of my life.

VanGoghsDog · 02/07/2022 15:20

Heated bathroom mirror - warm reflection!

AgapanthusLove · 02/07/2022 15:24

We have a small velvet sofa in our kitchen i love to sit or sprawl on it while I'm cooking & waiting for things to cook.
Love chatting to dh & dc n the kitchen too

Yodaisawally · 02/07/2022 15:30

When I stand in the garden and look at the back of my house in the dark, it is very pretty.

I look at it and think this is mine and I love it.

It's tiny, and we are rapidly outgrowing it but I love it.

Justcallmebebes · 02/07/2022 15:31

The fact that it's all mine and no one else's
