Are there any fellow Flightradar geeks on here? There is a red tui plane over Manchester right now squaking. Any idea why?

Nearly 15,000 people tracking this flight now.

Must be burning fuel to have spent so long airborne, but circling

BarbaraofSeville · 27/06/2022 12:54

In other news, SOLEX01 is going round in a very nice circle over Northumberland.

TOM5GM coming back inland.

John Lennon. Speke.

Could be li ING up with the runways at man now.

CandyLeBonBon · 27/06/2022 12:54

Similar happened to me on the way home from Sydney - there was a person being deported and he tried to take his own life in the toilets so we had to fuel dump and make an emergency landing in Brisbane. So scary. Blood everywhere- it looked like scene from a horror film.

Anon7744885 · 27/06/2022 12:54

It looks like it's circling again, perhaps dumping more fuel before landing at LP or MN.

StopStartStop · 27/06/2022 12:55

I give in! He's turned back!

Broadswordcalling · 27/06/2022 12:55

WTF is it doing? Turned away from liverpool now.

Fitzfatsfeist · 27/06/2022 12:55

Sorry, no where near!

bendmeoverbackwards · 27/06/2022 12:55

@Badger1970 poor you, I'm nervous too. Did you land soon after that happened? Which airline was it?

Mushroo · 27/06/2022 12:56

I did not know this was a thing and I’m now super invested - there goes my productivity !

seems to now been circling between St. Helens and Wigan, so odd! Hopefully all on board are ok

SwedishEdith · 27/06/2022 12:56

DebtWorry · 27/06/2022 12:51

Oh dear I’d be worried if I was tracking this as I often do for relatives flights

Yeah, I routinely track my kids' flights just to check they land ok. It's so low as well - must look so strange to anyone not used to seeking flights overhead.

John Lennon. Speke.

I don't think so, it's staying at 7000ft, not looking like landing anywhere just yet

katmunchkin · 27/06/2022 12:57

All this makes me think is how quickly these planes cover our country - Derby to Liverpool in a couple of minutes!

Anon7744885 · 27/06/2022 12:57

I'm supposed to be working 😲

I used to want to be a pilot, I know way too much about planes and still have a real interested, but now in my older years I am not a good flyer. This is not helping 😂

GrandSlamFinalee · 27/06/2022 12:58

It’s also a very interesting pattern. Could they be checking how the aircraft is responding to direction change inputs? It’s funny that they looped for a while then started doing more different patterns.

LemonLymanDotCom · 27/06/2022 12:58

Now where is it off to? Thought it was off to fly circles over Leeds airport for a moment there. Some holiday flight that is, meant to be off to Cape Verde, got an aerial tour of the airports of the north instead!

WhaWhaWhaaat · 27/06/2022 12:58

I was about to book a flight from Manchester. Non essential. Think I'll take the train 😂

AnyFucker · 27/06/2022 12:58

Anybody else feel a bit choked up ? Sighs of relief all round when it lands.

bendmeoverbackwards · 27/06/2022 12:59

How much information do the passengers get told when this sort of thing happens?

Cryingbutstilltrying · 27/06/2022 12:59

Flight radar is amazing but terrifying when it starts to go wrong.
DH used to fly a lot for work pre-covid. I would happily track his flights, until something similar happened on the way home from Schipol and they dumped fuel and landed some time later. Some minor fault with the plane but super cautious as you would expect, he was moved to a different flight. I was having kittens so banned myself from looking at anything except the arrivals board at Heathrow for the time he was expected back after that.

Hoping this is resolved soon for the people on board. The thought of their excitement heading off on a wonderful holiday and then circling for hours with all that worry, before landing back in Manchester. Depressing and terrifying all at once.
Thank you for all the technical knowledge shared, I always learn something on here!

theDudesmummy · 27/06/2022 13:00

Going round over Liverpool now

milliemermaid · 27/06/2022 13:00

BlackAndPinkNose · 27/06/2022 12:42

I do this all the time and I would be the same!

I also did this when my (precious)! dgd flew with the school. Omigod it aged me years!

isthismylifenow · 27/06/2022 13:01

Gosh, I really feel for the people on board.

I was on a flight was hit by a bird strike. Its truly terrifying.

Ohmybod · 27/06/2022 13:01

Yodaisawally · 27/06/2022 12:53

I never knew this existed I feel I am going to waste hours of my life...

look scary if you're on board, like they are heading out to dump fuel, hopefully not attempt an emergency water landing.

That’s a ridiculous thought. Why on earth would a plane head out to land in the sea?! Massively complicating any rescue mission. With a number of airports / open green spaces nearby. Honestly…
