Are there any fellow Flightradar geeks on here? There is a red tui plane over Manchester right now squaking. Any idea why?

I don't think the elevation means much. It's likely to be kept fairly low so that it can be landed quickly — and that's not even necessarily because the situation demands it, it's often done like this so that the disruption impact on other flights on busy runways at the airport is minimal.

MagentaRocks · 27/06/2022 12:48

Hopefully it looks more worrying than it is.

They might be heading out over the water now.

Anon7744885 · 27/06/2022 12:48

Very odd, it isn't landing! Maybe they are having landing gear trouble.

Watching this thread a little nervously

Me too. I live at the back of MCR airport where all the emergency gates are!

SwedishEdith · 27/06/2022 12:50

Looks like heading to the Irish Sea? I heard it nearby. God, I'd be bloody terrified if on board.

StopStartStop · 27/06/2022 12:50

Nope.

That's what I thought too!

DebtWorry · 27/06/2022 12:51

Oh dear I’d be worried if I was tracking this as I often do for relatives flights

GreenLeavesRustling · 27/06/2022 12:51

RAF Syerston

WhaWhaWhaaat · 27/06/2022 12:51

Where on earth are they going? Not to Liverpool it seems?

Anon7744885 · 27/06/2022 12:52

Blackpool Airport maybe?? It's barely in use but still an active runway I believe! Although still not descending so probably not...

StopStartStop · 27/06/2022 12:52

Maybe

WhaWhaWhaaat · 27/06/2022 12:52

Turning and descending. Must be liverpool

daisyblooms · 27/06/2022 12:52

Looks like it’s going to land at Liverpool now.

SaintJavelin · 27/06/2022 12:52

It's turning again.

Movealong14 · 27/06/2022 12:52

Happened to me coming back from Tenerife - landing gear failure meaning they had to circle to dump fuel and then emergency landing in brace position, bloody terrifying

hellywelly3 · 27/06/2022 12:53

Never tracked a flight before but it’s awful to think of the people on board, looks like it heading to Liverpool

Yodaisawally · 27/06/2022 12:53

I never knew this existed I feel I am going to waste hours of my life...

look scary if you're on board, like they are heading out to dump fuel, hopefully not attempt an emergency water landing.

WhaWhaWhaaat · 27/06/2022 12:53

Apologies gone back up over 7k

Anon7744885 · 27/06/2022 12:53

Fingers crossed they are all ok!

JuneJubilee · 27/06/2022 12:53

I'm somewhat reassured by people 'in the know' who have posted, so thank you! But I hope they land soon.

Badger1970 · 27/06/2022 12:53

I haven't flown after a missed landing at Heathrow back from the States on a cold dark November morning, apparently the runway wasn't clear and it felt like we went up vertically! I'm a nervy passenger anyway but that finished me off. I was sobbing by the time we got off and said Never again to DH.

Poor sods on board...... I'm very glad to be sat at my desk at work!
