Egg sandwiches

Ok, so inspired my another thread but... on the sandwich fillings for party thread no one has mentioned egg! Surely egg sandwiches are the best bit of a party tea? I'm now fearing they will die out and become extinct. So the question, would you eat an egg sandwich? And would your children eat an egg sandwich?

I love an egg mayo - but absolutely no cress!

AloyNoraWarrior · 21/06/2022 17:44

Yes, I actually eat one most days.

motogirl · 21/06/2022 17:44

No, revolting, and stinky. One of my DD's loves them the other is like me and leaves the room!

IstayedForTheFeminism · 21/06/2022 17:45

We all love egg sandwiches here. My mum always makes them for picnics because it's the only filling all of us (including niblings) eat.

caramac04 · 21/06/2022 17:46

Always have egg mayo sandwiches for family gatherings and most Sundays for tea. Delicious.
My DC and DGC would be miffed if there weren’t any.

Finfintytint · 21/06/2022 17:47

Egg sandwiches usually feature in packed lunches. We have hens so eggs are always in abundance.

Oizys · 21/06/2022 17:48

Egg sandwiches are the best.

my nana always made them for trips to the beach or when we visited for a tea party. Never had one as good but she made them using salad cream and butter mixed with the egg not Mayo.

food of gods. I make them for my
kids who love them as much as i did

Greenfrog78 · 21/06/2022 17:48

Love them but I prefer salard cream to mayo.

Mrsjayy · 21/06/2022 17:48

Yes I like them so did my dc when they were young. They don't really smell bad if you let the eggs cool before you add the mayo.

Powerpotpie · 21/06/2022 17:49

Absolute favourite sandwich! With Mayo, cress or watercress and of course real butter.

Dougieowner · 21/06/2022 17:49

And don't forget to add the pepper!
Mmmmmmmmmmm 🤤

etulosba · 21/06/2022 17:49

My favourite sandwich filling, with or without cress.

SausageAndCash · 21/06/2022 17:50

My Dc regularly had egg and cress sandwiches in their packed lunch.

userxx · 21/06/2022 17:50

There's not many things I hate in life but egg sandwiches are one of them. They look and smell rank.

PresidentByeThen · 21/06/2022 17:52

My favourite, on the softest white bread or even better an open finger roll.

With or without cress, but I do prefer salad cream though

Yarnasaurus · 21/06/2022 17:57

Fresh crusty white roll, salted butter, sliced just warm hard boiled egg, watercress, mayo and a touch of salt 😋

Or egg mayo with lots of pepper in a toasted bagel, with a fork on the side to eat all the egg that falls out!

I thought I'd never eat these delicacies again after having to go gluten free, but I've finally found decent GF crusty rolls and superb GF bagels.

BertieBotts · 21/06/2022 17:57

Love an egg sandwich but rarely make them as they seem so much effort, and expensive. If I hard boil eggs that are going to pass their date, we normally just end up eating them whole.

mbosnz · 21/06/2022 18:02

My daughter loves Ham and Egg, I love poached egg and chives, egg and cress, and a club sandwich with ham, lettuce, tomato, may and egg in it.

ODFOx · 21/06/2022 18:08

Mix in some chopped cooked smoked bacon to make an instant 'all day breakfast' sandwich. You're welcome 🙂.

I would not. Egg mayo sandwiches are disgusting.

I'd eat a fried egg sandwich though.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 21/06/2022 18:12

My fav sandwich filling as a kid was egg & tomato, just mashed together with no salad cream or mayo.

Isseywith3witchycats · 21/06/2022 18:12

thank you for inspiration egg sarnies for lunch tomorrow

Joolsin · 21/06/2022 18:13

Egg, tomato and lettuce all chopped up and mixed with salad cream. On white bread. Mmmmmmmm, delicious.

balalake · 21/06/2022 18:17

You can have the ones that would have been offered to me. No thank you.

ExtremelyDedicated · 21/06/2022 18:17

I love them. Neither of my DC would eat them if you paid them though.
