So it is you that is buying them then..

I sometimes see a nice top and wonder if it would still look ok if I sewed up the bloody cold shoulders....

Basilbrushgotfat · 30/05/2022 23:27

I thought it was just my friend who kept buying them!!

No idea what being plus size has to do with it though!

Princessoftheuniverse · 30/05/2022 23:29

I thought I was on my own in really disliking them. Would appear not.

You had better hide op! It's you who buys the bloody things and thus makes designers think that us big girls loves to feel sexy by flashing a shoulder!! Bloody awful tops! 😆😆

PerfectionValley · 30/05/2022 23:40

I'm on the fence about cold-shoulder tops.

As a fellow plus-sized woman, how do you feel about all the damn flowers on every single item of clothing?

FelicityBeedle · 30/05/2022 23:41

I also like them and I’m also fat! Also quite like the flowers

MushyPeasPrincess · 30/05/2022 23:45

Aren't cold shoulders completely passé now? They were here for a season in 2019/early 2020 but I never see anyone wearing them now?
Genuine question not trying to be snarky! I just haven't seen anyone in one since emerging from lockdowns!

That's exactly what I thought.
It's not even like they've been around and keep coming round (apparently pussy bows are on their way back - yikes!): cold shoulders just had that one moment.
Are they being particularly pushed at plus sizes then?

AnnHedonia · 30/05/2022 23:52

I'm plus size and I like/buy them too!

CornishPorsche · 30/05/2022 23:54

Why can't they just make longline, plain black, fitted, deep V neck tops. That's all I want. Not oversize, not with a pocket on the boob, not a high neck, not a short body cut, not bloody floral.

Plain. Black. Fitted. Covers my belly. Deep V neck.

The bloody butterflies are worse than the flowers!
Cold shoulder tops are awful too.

wallpoppy · 30/05/2022 23:59

In my family they’re called potato peekers because the size and shape of the shoulders being revealed look like potatoes. My MIL who was sort of like a very sweet and kind hearted Pat Butcher lookalike loved her potato peekers, rest her soul.

Dibbydoos · 31/05/2022 00:02

I love cold shoulder tops.

I bought 2 for when I had physio for a frozen shoulder and they came in handy when I went for vaccines!

I also think thry suit most people.

You interest me here. I've got a frozen shoulder and - sorry! - I hate cold shoulder tops.
But did they facilitate treatment enough that it's worth me getting one?

I'm a desperate woman - you'll know how painful it is - and I'll happily buy one if it helps.

This is the precise question I have been struggling to articulate all these years!!!

I'm fat and I love cold shoulder tops 😂 I didn't know it was bad to like them 😅 I own loads

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/05/2022 00:15

As a woman who is "of a certain age", I hate them as unless it is the absolute height of summer, I am always cold. So a jumper that makes me colder rather misses the point!

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/05/2022 00:16

That said, I love Bardot style tops and dresses, but I rarely wear them for the reasons mentioned above!!

@LaMarschallin I can categorically say that a cold shoulder top will not cure your frozen shoulder, only thing that will is time. Physio friend told me this when I got one, said it would cure itself but takes about 18 months, she was right. Does help as it improves to do exercises which you can find on the Internet, pendulum swinging of the affected arm and walking your fingers up a wall to increase the flexibility/range of movement........ No cold shoulder tops need to be worn to do this😉

chaosmaker · 31/05/2022 00:25

What happened to proper sleeves, too? Just these poxy things were the bottom of the 'sleeve' is joined to the body at the armpit rather than being a tube of material that goes down to the elbow? Am I alone in hating these faux sleeves?

Also completely agree with longline tops with deep V necks!

I very much appreciate you answering my question. I honestly didn't think that a cold shoulder top would cure my frozen shoulder (although, tbh, if someone told me that burning herbs and saluting the sun would help, I'd give it a thought Smile), I just wondered whether the access to the muscle there would make physio a bit easier.
I've read the same things on Dr Google and will definitely by trying those too once I've seen what the physio has to say.
Thanks again - I appreciate you sharing your experience.

Not remotely religious - but AMEN.
