I agree with everyone.

And tiny pockets on the boob. Just why?

This funny. I hate cold shoulder tops. I am 56 FFS.

Lands End do v neck tops up to a size 26 with a lifetime guarantee. Anything not to your liking? send it back.

I am fat and doing something about it, however I do have thyroid disease but eat like a horse! Great skin though.

SunnyLobelia · 31/05/2022 07:04

I'm fat and it aint nothing to do with food.

all about the booze

Why can't they just make longline, plain black, fitted, deep V neck tops. That's all I want. Not oversize, not with a pocket on the boob, not a high neck, not a short body cut, not bloody floral.

Plain. Black. Fitted. Covers my belly. Deep V neck.

I agree completely! I am eternally on the look out for these!

Is it time for llamas yet?
Or Alpaca My Suitcase type tops?

Lesperance · 31/05/2022 07:13

Can somebody PLEASE explain what this has to do with being "plus size"?

I agree, they are really old fashioned now, didn't last long, it's all puffy sleeves now.

Aren't cold shoulders completely passé now? They were here for a season in 2019/early 2020 but I never see anyone wearing them now?
Genuine question not trying to be snarky! I just haven't seen anyone in one since emerging from lockdowns!

So what do people do with these "passé" clothes? Just never wear them again? Throw them away? Give them to a charity shop so poor people can look "passé"?

I'll admit I don't give a shiny shit whats "in" or "out" and wear what suits me, look after my clothes and keep them for years, but I'm genuinely curious what people who actually care about this stuff do with clothes that they've basically worn for a season.

Absolutely, and while they're at that, make jeans or jeggings with a high waist AND long legs. Most womens trousers go to a 29 inch leg, occasionally 31 if they even do long. My legs are 34inches and I want a bit longer than that.

I know long tall Sally exists but the prices are out of my reach usually.

NashvilleQueen · 31/05/2022 07:34

Isn't it because plus sized women already have a much reduced choice of clothes (because many designers/shops stop at 14 or 16)? So if you're smaller you have a much wider range of non-cold shoulder tops whereas we have to make do with the same old shit season after season by lazy designers who just think we will wear butterflies and appliqué for the rest of our lives.

potteringinmysocks · 31/05/2022 01:50

I just want v necks! Everything has high round necks! Why?!! It's just not flattering!!

Yep...drives me nuts.

I also - and this may or may not be controversial - really like a 3/4 length sleeve but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth too.

I have a few cold shoulder tops lurking in my wardrobe...one is lovely, the others are probably destined for recycling.

CthulhuInDisguise · 31/05/2022 07:48

Intrugueddotcom who put 50p in the dickhead?

I don't want cold shoulders, I want nice shirts or plain t-shirts that aren't made of clingy material or oversized. I don't want wacky prints or slogans. I am not a wall.

Fifi0102 · 31/05/2022 07:50

Former plus size here and I prefer plus size fashion ,😳😳 I wish they did smaller sizes the youngish fashion is too revealing of the bits I don't like. 🤣

lapasion · 31/05/2022 07:52

Cold shoulders are awful. The tan lines for starters. And they make me look like a rugby player.

I have a couple of the black longline V neck holy grail tops, but to be honest they aren’t that flattering. They make my body look long and legs look short. But they are super comfy. One was from George and one from Simply Be, both from a couple of years ago.

Fernsinthegarden · 31/05/2022 07:53

@NashvilleQueen I see your tiny pocket on the boob and raise you the double tiny pocket - one on each boob. Tried a top on recently with this and had to discard because it looked like I had square nipples.
Cold shoulder tops not my thing but I’m SO FED UP of finding a dress and it looking so lovely at the front, turning it around and finding a massive hole in the back. I can’t go braless!!!
I know they’ve also been mentioned before but the bloody adornment that goes onto T-shirts drives me mad as well, I don’t want sparkles or stars or words, I just want plain!

Tibtab · 31/05/2022 07:54

sonjadog · 31/05/2022 07:06

M&S had a massive range of plain basic T-shirts recently. I got a longer length black one there.

I am a size 8 but I love a cold shoulder. I wore them to get all 3 of my covid vaccines and they are quite handy. My DH told the nurse proudly that this is my 'special' vaccination dress, he thought it was designed for people to get injections!

Stabbitystabstab · 31/05/2022 08:06

I have a skinny friend that lives in them.
They look shit on the slim too
Awful, awful trend

I agree, they are really old fashioned now, didn't last long, it's all puffy sleeves now.

Have a look at places like Yours and you will be overwhelmed by cold shoulder, shitty slogans, diamanté shit and fucking butterflies.

And all the tops will be too short because they also assume plus size women are short too.

Most T-shirts in Evans are like a fucking crop top on me.

Thank god that things have got better. I'm actually getting some nice summer
stuff in Next and Sainsburys. Plus more brands are doing plus size so I can wear jeans again as Evans etc never fitted me.

40andlols · 31/05/2022 08:20

yes why don't they do tall AND large ranges? I saw a size 4 36" leg pair of jeans recently. surely women are more likely to be size 20 with 36" leg?

agree high round necks are awful, the boob pocket... why? maybe for us to keep a snack which we're obviously constantly eating. The slogans Hmm "This girl can".

SirChenjins · 31/05/2022 08:24

I'm not plus sized but I'm short and middle aged - fashion designers really hate us.

I'm with you on hatred for the cold shoulder - it serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever and isn't particularly flattering on about 95% of women. Also NO, NON and NEIN to the deep V - if you're short like me then a deep V finishes below your bra line and exposes your bra-encased norks to the world.

lollipoprainbow · 31/05/2022 08:27

I love them, but then I think my shoulders are my best feature !!

SavBbunny · 31/05/2022 08:29

@40andlols
You have just made me laugh out loud. Pocket for a snack!
Ditto double breasted jackets. Ffs I am double breasted.
Designed by skinny men or fat haters.
