There’s this idea that plus size women don’t want to ever show their tits off

I do they look ok after 3 kids and it’s one of the few things I have going for me 😂

I’m currently wearing a top with a pocket on one boob. Sometimes I put a screwed up tissue in that pocket

This thread!😂😂😂

And potato peekers!

If it were between life and death I would actually rather wear a cold shoulder top than a slogan t-shirt. My aunties all wear cold shoulder tops and there is something very comforting about them I think. They remind me of "Barb and Star go to Vista del Mar" and their culottes!

The same reason you struggle to get short and plus size.
I'm 5ft1i rarely can get jeans or trousers the right length and as for the constant summer wardrobe of maxi dresses, they are ridiculously long on me

Imagine what it’s like if you’re 4’ 9’’! Apart from problems with trousers and maxi dresses, I’m a 30G so if I buy a dress in a size to fit the rest of my body I can’t get the zip up or my boobs are squashed flat or I get a size to fit the top and it’s a sack everywhere else. I can sometimes fit into a Zara aged 14 and just bought a white, broderie anglais, sleeveless jumpsuit; I slit the centre seam on the bodice to allow more room and attached ribbon to tie it back together which also looks more adult. Another jumpsuit I had from there fit me up top, but had a high neck under a faux tied bit over the bust so I just cut that bit off. I can’t stand high necks, so often customise.

What I want is an A-line tunic type top that accentuates under the bust (without cutting my boobs in half), and then skims over my belly to finish mid-thigh so it covers my bum, without either clinging to my belly rolls, or hanging like a sack. With a flattering neck line.

Another controversial one… peplum tops. I have a great one from Yours which sits just on the right place so it shows off my boobs while skimming my stomach nicely. However, you have to shop around for the right one as a lot of peplum tops look awful and can make you look pregnant.

Why can't they just make longline, plain black, fitted, deep V neck tops. That's all I want. Not oversize, not with a pocket on the boob, not a high neck, not a short body cut, not bloody floral.

Plain. Black. Fitted. Covers my belly. Deep V neck.

^ THIS. 300%.

I never saw the point of cold shoulder tops. I always think they look as if the owner has put the iron through them.

Mummumtum · 31/05/2022 10:49

@CornishPorsche can I present you the boden double layer v neck. It’s really lovely.

Mummumtum · 31/05/2022 10:49

Won’t let me post link for some reason

Me too…..we should start an affordable business, I’ve some which are completely unaffordable 😀

PinkLeafPaint · 31/05/2022 10:50

I’ve seen some which are unaffordable, which is shame

v is deeper than it looks on that model

whataloadabullocks · 31/05/2022 11:09

Mens t.shirts, mens v.neck. They are plain, longer and hard wearing. The only thing I don't like in mens is cashmere as it tends to be more scratchy, no idea why. Otherwise I wear mens clothes. The downside is dh tends to nick my stuff...claiming it's hisGrin sometimes I might 'borrow' his.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 31/05/2022 11:24

Plus size here - nope to anything described as boxy, no cap sleeves, no puff sleeves, nothing low rise, no logos, no foil, and definitely NO VISCOSE! Found a lovely dress from Monsoon, about £90 and it’s viscose! Smells weird and I want to die when having a hot flush.

amusedbush · 31/05/2022 11:36

TellingBone · 31/05/2022 09:38

Yes, cap sleeves on tee shirts can get in the sea. Pleased to hear that M&S have some with longer sleeves @amusedbush, but four inches above elbow is still quite short. I'm another that buys men's tee shirts just for the sleeves, but they're often narrow at the hip and too boxy.

I like elbow length sleeves but they're like hens' teeth.

It’s definitely shorter than I usually go for (mens tops generally have sleeves that sit right above my elbow, or I like a 3/4 sleeve in womens top) but it’s surprisingly nice. I didn’t expect it to look as good as it does! The turn up detail distracts from the size of my arms Grin

I find that I look better wearing clothes that are tailored, but all shops want me to wear is either massively elasticated or overly baggy. The main aim seems to be to cover every inch of flesh possible.

Absolutely this!

summer dressing can be hard not to look tarty with strappy tops but I don’t want the other extreme either,

having A good pair of boobs to fill out a dress is something a lot of plus size women have so why don’t they utilize this? 🤔

This beauty was too good not to share , what is the purpose of the extra strap ???

Haha love it. That strap is going to both give you tan lines AND probably ride up and strangle you when you sit down.

I went on Yours today to look for some plain leggings and came across this monstrosity of an outfit. No, this is not comfy sleepwear, this is for the daytime. Head to toe purple would make me look like Grimace, but at least the New York logo adds sophistication. 😂

CountryMouse22 · 01/06/2022 17:51

I don't see the point of them, whether on a skinny or plus size person.

threatmatrix · 01/06/2022 17:56

I am not over wright and I love them.

AnnHedonia · 30/05/2022 23:52

I'm plus size and I like/buy them too!

As do I. I also wear them

FayeFife · 01/06/2022 18:21

I think there’s a certain shape of larger women who are round shouldered and who do not wear a cold shoulder top well. The opening sits like an inexplicable oval cut out of and sitting flat against their upper arm. The shoulder does not poke through…does that make sense? Broader shouldered women wear them better.
I feel ok to say this because I was very fat once upon a time. Wouldn’t have risked the oval effect. I’ve lost weight and have bonier shoulders now. Still wouldn’t wear one though. I’m not a fan.

Flamingle18 · 01/06/2022 18:37

I bought one a few years ago and then one day it was really hot when I was wearing it and I slapped on some suncream. The teacher at pick up asked why I had a big handprint on my red shoulder . I’d obviously not rubbed it in 😆. I’ve never worn one since!

AnnieSnap · 01/06/2022 18:42

Each to our own. I think they are bloody awful!

Missingpop · 01/06/2022 19:07

As a larger lady I don’t like “cold shoulder”clothes either those stringy straps with huge chunks of flesh on show; I much prefer boat type collar tops, I think they show enough & cover plenty I don’t like my arms being on show either, no one needs to see my flabby flesh. 😂

NeedWineNow · 01/06/2022 19:12

Have to say I went through a phase of buying them so ended up with 3 knee length dresses and a top. I had them hanging in the wardrobe reluctant to get rid as they were good quality, so I took them took a local alterations company. They took out the sleeve part and made them sleeveless. One of the girls in our office lives in her cold shoulder tops. No large prints though.
