What would you expect a "bottomless brunch" to be?

Girly weekend away, bottomless brunch suggested, at around £20 per head. All agreed. Ended up being £12 more.

What would you expect from it?

@ShirleyPhallus - I meant "luckily" as in "luckily she doesn't go very often/get drunk because, for some reason, when she's busy worshipping the porcelain god (which yes; has happened from time to time - she's an average woman in her 20s, after all)... it's like an echo chamber and her brother and I hear it wherever we are in the house!" On top of which, she (and I) are of the mindset that if you're drinking purely to end up drunk before midday... then perhaps (generic) you need some sort of intervention/help for alcoholism.

We had one at a Cuban style chain. It was a brunch dish, quite nice and unlimited drinks...choice of about 6 alcoholic drinks. £20 each. Food was nice but I ended up having 2 bottles of prosecco a mimosa and a bloody mary! 90 mins!! (Tbf they gave me a full bottle of prosecco 89 mins in which I sat and drank afterwards)

Ended up being one of the worst days of my life! 🤣

For bottomless brunch I would expect unlimited food and soft beverages for a set time period, ie 90 minutes. if alcohol was stated/advertised as included I would expect that - but would expect a bottomless drinks package to be called bottomless drinks - not bottomless brunch.

My girlie's and I have been known drink our body weight in prosecco within 2 hours!
Some places are great and you get loads of food and free-flowing drinks others have been really crap with small amounts of food and slow service so you really do not get much more than three glasses.
I also notice that usually there are a lot of eggy dishes on the menu.
Still love them as it is a chance to catch up, unwind and be a little pissed before 5pm!!!

The "bottomless" refers to the alcohol. The food is usually quite small e.g. mini sliders, sushi, avocado on toast

Enough that I wouldn't want/need to eat for the rest of the day..... but not so expensive that it would cost me more than I spend in a week feeding 4!

Buffet meal including hot and cold foods such as kedgeree, full English, eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, omelette, various breads, cereals, granola, preserves, butter, yogurts, fresh fruit, cheeses and cold meats, salad, coffee, tea, fresh juices and Prosecco.

At £20 - not a lot - if its limitless Prosecco. Maybe a main dish like croque monsieur or eggs benedict. I have been to a nice buffet one abroad but more like£35

I'm with you OP. I'm sure about 15 years ago bottomless brunch definitely did refer to food. The difference between that and a buffet, used to be with the brunch you generally chose a menu, but then you could keep getting more of that thing (or a couple of things) for a certain time period - instead of just helping yourself like with a buffet. But now it's changed so that the bottomless part refers to the drinks only - I didn't realise this when I went for bottomless brunch either.

A place near me was advertising a bottomless brunch for £40. It lasted for 1 hour and had very limited menu a drinks options (4 food options, 1 each for meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free, and 4 drink options, 3 cocktails and Prosecco). You were allowed to stay at the venue for an additional 2 hours but had to pay extra for any drinks.

For what they were offering I’d have expected to pay the price the OP quoted.

This was in the north of England.

I'd expect a buffet where you could go up for more as many times as you liked. Not sure about the drinks side of it though.

Your place is an all you can eat brunch buffet. A bottomless brunch is definitely unlimited alcohol for a set time period. Hence bottomless.

What would i like it to be? A buffet lunch with a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. What do I expect it to be? A limited range of food (one dish) and unlimited prosecco for 2 hours.

And people who should know better throwing up the table and having to be taken home.

So, not bottomless, and not really brunch.

I have been to a few bottomless brunches and it’s definitely all about the alcohol! It’s usually 2 hours of unlimited Prosecco and nobody cares about the food. I think you got a bargain! X

@FabFitFifties a small plate of food and the option for unlimited cocktails which I can't drink. For £32.

If it was £20 I would read terms and conditions closely. It doesnt seem dear enough for truly bottomless tbh.
