Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Nope, I refuse to believe that Ainsley is anything other than lovely.

I was at the next table to Ainsley recently. Sort of bench seating. He was chatting away to me and totally charming. The staff seemed to know him and like him?

Cornishseawaves · 09/05/2022 20:43

Can confirm both Rylan and his Mum are absolutely lovely - he’s originally from the same town as me and have known him for years

Oh no I always thought he must be nice dunno why maybe the characters he played

Alwayshoovering · 09/05/2022 20:44

Steven Amell. Worked at a comicon event, showing people through foe photos and autographs. He was happy to take fans money but made it very obvious he didn't want to be there.
Jason mamoa on the other hand was an absolute delight and did everything he could to ensure fans had a great time and got their monies worth

He visited the infant school where I was working because his cousin was a student there. I think it was a surprise visit for her birthday. He was indeed lovely.

Yes Geoff Boycott is an arrogant tosser. I am a bit younger than him but was born in the same village and he was not well liked even as a teenager.
My niece worked in a pub/restaurant near to where he lived and he treated the staff like they were his personal servants.
How he acted during his court case showed what kind of person he is.

Youwiththeglasses · 09/05/2022 20:45

Rod Stewart. I worked in his local newsagents in Epping years ago and he always expected to go straight to the front of the queue. Thought a lot of himself.

Glad to hear it 😊

When I say visited, I mean he certainly with her mum to.collect her at home time. It was the staff who turned it into a "visit" Grin

It always seems that when people recount having met a celeb the celeb is either 'really really awful' or they are the complete opposite and are 'really, really lovely'. It's as though people want to make more of a story out of their brief meeting. I suspect that 99% of celebs are unremarkable if you meet them in passing.

Threeboysandadog · 09/05/2022 20:47

Billy Connelly is absolutely lovely. It was a while ago when his girls were young but he stood and spoke for ages. A really nice guy.

HerbertChops · 09/05/2022 20:47

I worked on ‘Only Fools and Horses’ years ago and David Jason was really horrible to work with, so glad I wasn’t his costume assistant, he was so rude. Everyone else was lovely (Nicholas Lindhurst, Roger Lloyd Pack, John Challis).

Worked on lots of film/tv over the years and it’s about 75% complete a*holes to 25% really lovely people, and that’s at work where you’d expect people to be professional.

Dizza25 · 09/05/2022 20:48

Our daughter clocked Tom Hanks as they were going up to a swanky bar - anniversary treat in a roof top place in a posh hotel in London . He was waiting by the lift, saw that she had recognised him, before she could look away he smiled at her. Raised his hand and smiled a knowing smile as if to say, i know you are gobsmacked but Hi, absolutely made her day.

CotswoldWoolly · 09/05/2022 20:48

David Baddiel, mid 90s (I was a shop girl - he was quite rude) but DH met him
several years later and said he was a decent bloke. Maybe I just met him on a bad day.
Cilla - very unpleasant.
Paul and Linda McCartney - eye opening, that’s all I’ll say.
Much nicer celebs I’ve met include Keir Starmer, John Major, McKenzie Crook, Jarvis Cocker, Tom Hiddleston.
Noel Gallagher often gets a bad rep, but I’ve met him a couple of times and he’s been alright.

I am glad Judy Murray is apparently lovely. I have no interest in tennis but whenever she is on the radio or tv I listen as she has a lovely manner and always has something interesting to say.

Yes I've always got a lovely vibe from her..

I met Paul McCartney when I was a teenager I literally stopped and gawped he laughed and said you alright there and I ran off 🤣

Sharleen Spiteri offered me tickets to a gig when I worked in retail-so down to earth and lovely!
Paul Weller chats to my mum all the time 😂
Vernon Kay - lovely
Dermot O'Leary - lovely as well.

PensionPuzzle · 09/05/2022 20:49

I've met Chris Tarrant too and although I wouldn't be rushing to work with him again, I must have got him on a good day as he was vaguely chatty.

Controversial one coming up but John Craven is the only well-known person I've met that I would go out of my way to avoid!

JB from JLS is an absolute sweetheart.

Georgeskitchen · 09/05/2022 20:49

I once met Tyrone from Corries ex psycho girlfriend , Ruby's mum.
She was really lovely 😍

HSKAT · 09/05/2022 20:50

Claire Sweeny. Awful

Time2ChangeName · 09/05/2022 20:50

In contrast, Dominic Monaghan from Lost & Lord of the Rings was so nice, an absolute sweetheart.

Well I guess if they were unremarkable you wouldn’t remark on it. If a celeb is super lovely or awful you’re likely to tell people, but nobody’s exactly going to say ‘oh I saw x from that TV show today. They were neither nice or horrible but just plain.‘

Also pretty likely if you approach someone asking for a photo/saying you’re a fan etc they are probably going to either be friendly and polite or be rude. It’s hard to be unremarkable when someone is saying they’re your fan/recognises you.

Chris moyles and his breakfast show crew. They were traveling around the country in TV famous vehicles knight rider car that kinda thing. I worked in a hotel they stayed in. Spoke to the staff like shite. They were all equally jumped up & unpleasant

I can well believe that, he seemed like an arrogant arse on his show. Seemed like he genuinely thought he was a saviour if some sort and utterly shocked that he was dropped because his was too old for the target audience.

Eve Pollard?

Heard an awful story about Carol Middleton in her local boots. 'Don't you know who I am'?! Was along the words....

Yes, I had dealings with her a few times. A ghastly woman!
