Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

The blonde one in Status Quo came into the shoe shop I worked in before I went off to uni, and he was a fuckin arsehole. He stomped in holding a battered pair of boots he'd worn to death, demanding a refund and he was very rude.

Hurray!!

  • *Loving this tread !! I was visiting a friend in London many years ago. We were walking down the street when my friend saw someone he knew and called them over. We stood chatting for ages just passing the time of day....when we had finished I asked my mate how he knew the "friend " He said " Its Ricky Gervais" !!.I thought he looked familiar but I couldn't place him !! . My mate didn't know him personally, he just came to speak to us because he shouted to him. Absolutely lovely man and now one of my favourite celebrities

Funny isn't it ? Our perceptions of famous people. I used to have a patient who had spent a lot of time in Stoke Mandeville, and she hero worshipped Jimmy Saville. She had photos of him all over her flat, she reckoned she knew him really well. Wouldn't have a word said against him. She died before he did and his crimes came to light. I often wonder how she would have reacted.
Oh , and all those ladies who adore Cliff Richard. They'd be bloody shocked if they really knew what he gets up to.

Geoff Boycott - threw his leftover sandwiches on the tray not on the plate. Had to make sure all the staff knew who he was .

lovely person - Mark Addy. Met him in a restaurant around the Full Monty time. He chatted to folks who spoke to him but didn’t show off. Seemed very likeable.

Someone I know worked with David Jason for years, not a particularly nice chap at all apparently. This person lied to his dad about it, as his dad was a fan of Only Fools and Horses, and was really happy that his son was working with DJ. He couldn't bring himself to shatter his dad's DelBoy illusions!

I would never judge anyone on a snapshot - I've only mentioned the above example because the two people involved knew each other pretty well.

I've worked with a fair number of famous people over the years through my job. Not many are dreadful/exceptionally lovely personalities - most are just normal on days/off days, like anyone else. Julian Clary is an absolute gem of a person though :)

if people don’t want to read a thread about someone meeting someone on thread about rude celebrities and finding them nice they don’t absolutely have to keep on reading it. And then basically imply that we’re all saddos for mentioning these things. To which we’re supposed to infer that they have no need of such affirmation.

I don’t really see that the desire to write a small anecdote about a famous person being rude is so different to one illustrating their niceness surely? Or I’m too much of a small person to know this?

shescreamsforme · 10/05/2022 21:41

Jack Roth, comes off as arrogant and he smoked weed in close proximity to my toddlers. Thats not even all of it but that's my experience with him

OP George lineaker does seem lovely, not met him but friend of a friend type thing

Amanda Holden. Rude. (used to shop in the Sainsburys I worked at!)

Not remotely surprised to read this.

WildFlowerBees · 10/05/2022 22:38

I have never understood the need for people to ask for autographs or selfies from famous people just trying to go about their business. It seems so tedious to have to be sweetness and light all the time as if they aren't human. Give them a break and leave them alone. It's so needy.

Simon Weston made a homophobic joke at an event. Something about gay people in the army. I heckled him and then afterwards went to apologise for shouting out. He assumed that I'd been shouting out my disapproval of the Army because I'm in the Navy! Clueless. Reader, I'm not, and never have been, in the Navy.

I did a small project that involved some celeb chefs. James Martin was a total and utter arse of the highest order, spoke to everyone like they were shit and took about 10 attempts to get things right as he was completely unprepared and behaved as if the whole thing was beneath him. Jamie Oliver was completely vague but hit his marks first time every time then just left without a word. Gordon Ramsey was utterly charming, massively professional, fully prepared and rehearsed and made a point of thanking everyone personally at the end of the day.

I guess everyone plays a role on tv.

I have also met Gordon and concur with your impression, he was friendly but professional and didn't waste anyone's time. Thought he was fab!
