Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

@GinnysGin I met Will before a show once and he was indeed delightful! I can’t remember a thing I said to him though as I was totally starstruck and trying not to throw up with excitement (I’m a bit of a fan!!)

Superunknown1 · 10/05/2022 09:53

My other half has lots of celeb stories through working in theatre:

He found Jimmy Carr to be lovely and polite, David Walliams also lovely.
Ainsley Harriott was lovely as long as you accepted he was sexually assault any animal, vegetable or mineral within a ten foot radius. Wish I was joking

Danny Le Roux assaulted him live onstage to a capacity audience, who all laughed.

I met Gerard and Frank from My Chemical Romance and they were both lovely, especially Frank who was really attentive x

FabulousKilljoys · 10/05/2022 09:54

Only ever met celebrities through work. Lost count of how rude some of them are to people who are just trying to do their job and don't need reprimanding by a B lister. But I've also met some who are genuinely friendly and stop for a chat.

Choufleurfromage · 10/05/2022 09:55

John Noakes (ex Blue Peter presenter for anyone under 55!) was very unpleasant

exceptmeandmymonkey · 10/05/2022 09:55

I used to go to the same exercise class as Sara Cox. I didn't know who she was (not British) but noticed that other people in the class flocked to her/asked her questions/wanted to be around her so I asked someone who she was.

She was really nice, more so than I would be if I was coated in sweat and just trying to burn off calories. This was not at a super high-end gym, btw. Just a normal "middle class mum who lives in Kensal Rise" kind of place.

I've met them too, really nice down to Earth friendly guys. The whole band are really but agree Gerard and Frank are lovely and very engaging.

Yes I’ve heard this. He had dementia the later part of his life poor soul.

I’d be gutted to hear Peter Purves was anything but lovely. He was like a favourite uncle in my Blue Peter days.

I met a local radio presenter many years ago, probably not a national celeb but well known in the county, doing appearances, opening fetes etc. He hosted a late night phone in and things often got heated. He could be quite rude to those who phoned in ( including me) he did an appearance at my work place and he was every bit as obnoxious in real life as his radio persona

James Whale?

he laughed at me, a then 10yr old, after I fell over in the street.

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 10:10

Disappointed to hear that John Noakes was any less than unutterably lovely! That's ruined my day.

DeePlume · 10/05/2022 10:12

Mary portas. I was behind her in the queue in Starbucks and she was absolutely vile to the staff. Really disgusting behaviour.

Katie Price was so awful that sometimes I wake in the night, frozen with terror, with visions of her crawling up the bed like a night hag.

BF has worked in and around the royal family for years, he said Camilla is everyone's favourite because she is hilarious, does brilliant impersonations of the rest of the family, and is generous with her cigarettes.

He also said Catherine has to be practically shot out of a cannon to get her on stage for a speech, poor woman gets very nervous.

He also said Prince Charles is a lovely man and great fun.

The Katie Price night hag bit 🤣🤣🤣 that killed me.

I actually feel quite unsettled by it. I felt like a dirty member of staff that was bothering her or something.. and I too was a customer! Not staff

I actually find this comment a lot ruder than someone asking you not to touch their fruit (a bit strange but maybe she was having an off day or stressed because she'd just dropped her shopping and was embarrassed, we are all human. Even 'dirty members of staff'). I do find these kind of comments amusing - horrified that a celebrity could possibly be a bit snappy with you whilst simultaneously insulting staff members.

Badbadbunny · 10/05/2022 10:19

Nicest celeb I've met was Olivia Newton John, back in the early 80s at the height of her career. She was absolutely lovely. Very friendly and chatty and we talked for ages (at least it seemed like that, probably just a few minutes). She definitely wasn't fake - in person, she was exactly the same friendly, naive, "girl next door" personality as she was on TV in interviews etc.

I have met Katie Hopkins a few times as I used to help run a group that her older DD was in. I detest everything she says and writes but she was always really friendly and polite. Her dad was a complete gentleman.

Jennifer Saunders was lovely and kind when my baby DD was screaming M&S down.

What exactly HAS happened to Katie Hopkins? She's vanished off the face of the earth.

Yes, I had the misfortune to have dealings with Noel Edmonds. Not a nice man at all. He was a very good "actor"!

KevinTheKoala · 10/05/2022 10:24

I've met Stacey Solomon and Amy Child's through work, both were lovely and their children were beautifully behaved. I think most celebrities, like everyone else have their off days when they possibly aren't on their best form, I don't think its altogether fair to judge their entire personality on one or two bad experiences. That's not to say their won't be some who are arseholes of course but being in the public eye doesn't make you superhuman and it's just not possible to be 'on' all the time.

I said disgusting post from you and the other poster. Have we learned nothing?

Clearer?

and i have the right to say just because someone is dead doesnt mean they were nice

Charlottie01 · 10/05/2022 10:29

Seriously want to know what mum celebrity this is !!!

theviewfrommywindow · 10/05/2022 10:31

@Flippermeflopits

Oh that's disappointing as I listen to them every morning. Can't say that it surprises me thought. What a shame, no need for that whatsoever.

StorytimeSasha · 10/05/2022 10:31

The one about Katie Hopkins actually being polite and pleasant made me smile.

I have the same issue with a female Tory MP that I seem to cross paths with a lot; Their voting record is appalling, as is their defence of the antics of Dominic Cummings and Boris Johnson.

However, whenever I see them in the community they are always really nice, genuine and helpful. Just another pleasant chatty mum basically.

I always come away thinking " If I didn't know you were a Tory MP, I'd think you were a nice person " 😄

Iamthewalnut · 10/05/2022 10:31

Carol Wright was the first name that came to mind for me before the OP confirmed. I'm not surprised.

INeedNewShoes · 10/05/2022 10:33

I've met quite a few celebrities and politicians and am yet to meet anyone remarkable, either for being dreadful or for being more 'absolutely lovely' than people from other walks of life.

Best celeb I've ever met was Chris Mason. Such a genuine, friendly guy. Had a proper chat with me all about Newscast and was interested in me and what I thought about it. Really lovely man.

Ah I love him (and Fleming) on newscast.

I'd definitely say Olivia Newton John was one of the nicest/friendliest person I've ever met. A few minutes with her left a lasting impression on me.
