Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

I saw further up the thread someone mentioned Stacey Solomon was rude, several times! I follow her on Instagram, and just can't imagine her being anything but lovely! 😮

HashtagShitShop · 10/05/2022 09:22

@ImJustMadAboutSaffron yep that's right. Played a long term pc. It's known that he's a bit.... Eccentric and I do wonder if he played on that as I can't imagine friend was the only one as he showed no shame or desire to hide his letching.

Blahblahblah81 · 10/05/2022 09:24

Van Morrison. Saw him at the airport flying to Ireland in the 90s for my Grandad's funeral. Mum and dad sent 15 year old me over to ask for his autograph. Not sure how apt that was considering I was a surly teen flying to my Grandad's funeral! But off I went. He was very rude and short to me. So my response back was, well I don't even know who you are!

Oh the flip side,Brad Pitt came into our pub in London in the 90s to ask for directions. Mum showed me a pic of him in the paper, asked who he was and said he'd been very polite.

hamstersarse · 10/05/2022 09:25

Naga Munchetty is a classic bitch. When I met her she literally did the look you up and down thing with that look on her face.

I just found out recently that Jurgen Klopp is an absolute player, recently paying off his last fling. That's disappointing.

My sister once served Tilda Swinton in a shop (she lives in the same town.) She said she was very polite.

My husband spent a few hours with her on a business matter and said the same. He came back very taken with her.

Malbecfan · 10/05/2022 09:28

I have met Katie Hopkins a few times as I used to help run a group that her older DD was in. I detest everything she says and writes but she was always really friendly and polite. Her dad was a complete gentleman.

Jennifer Saunders was lovely and kind when my baby DD was screaming M&S down.

10HailMarys · 10/05/2022 09:29

Shane Richie. Rude, thick and sleazy.

ssd · 10/05/2022 09:31

Judy murray is lovely. Seen her years ago marking out the white lines on a run down council tennis court , so she could teach the kids tennis, for free. Really decent of her.

Met Lorraine Kelly briefly once....not so nice....

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 07:54

I was going to say Nicolas Witchell. Tiny ginger prick

@MaChienEstUnDick That comment says a lot more about you than it does NW.

It really doesn't, he was the most sexist, dismissive, annoying and disrespectful toady of a person I've ever had the displeasure of working with, but you do you.

SausagePourHomme · 09/05/2022 20:17

i don't really like these threads. Why expect anyone to be 'lovely' to you. They have no idea who you are, and they didn't get where they are by being nice. They got famous by being unusual and unreasonable. Deal with it.

That said, I have met several of the Dingle family actors from Emmerdale and without exception they were absolute treasures.

I know, can you imagine not even being able to do your shopping in a supermarket without people running over for selfies.
It must really wear thin.

CellophaneFlower · 10/05/2022 09:36

I've met a few rude ones but Matthew Fox is an absolute arse. I'm a massive Lost fan, so waited outside to see him when he was in a theatre show once. He signed some autographs and I asked for a photo really politely and he said no. I asked why not and he said "I don't take photos with strangers" 😕 Just after that he got arrested for abusing a female bus driver.

Daniel Dae Kim however, who played Jin, was an absolute sweetheart.

I strayed onto a thread some years ago and David Tennant was mentioned for some reason or other. This unleashed a horde of the most absolutely barking obsessive fans, mostly insulting his wife. Then someone added in Benedict Cumberbatch. Another horde of loons, also going for his wife. Astonishing, really quite worrying statements, off the scale nuts. Deleted after that. Frankly, if either of them don't welcome attention from strangers, it's not surprising. Imagine living with that level of crazy round every corner.

Fans of both those actors (including Tom Hiddleston into the mix) tend to be pretty rabid.

LINABE · 10/05/2022 09:36

This.

newnamethanks · 10/05/2022 09:37

'Do you know who I am?' "No but I know what you are. Thank you for showing me. Find someone else to help you". Repeat to all minor zlebs until it's absorbed.

Hallyup89 · 10/05/2022 09:37

Not me, but I know people who met Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris. Unsurprisingly, both said they were utterly vile.

LINABE · 10/05/2022 09:38

Sorry - I was trying to add to a previous post!!

CounsellorTroi · 10/05/2022 09:38

John Humphrys. Just like he was on the radio: deliberately awkward, cantankerous, grumbles at everything. Tosser.

Had a chat with him and his producer in an airport queue. He was perfectly nice and normal.

DH was once sitting across from Ben Miller on a train, who have him a lovely smile when he saw him looking. DH was too shy to say anything though.

ChocolatRaisins · 10/05/2022 09:38

Jamie Oliver.
He lives locally and frequents the shops. Massive queues collect behind him whilst he fanny arses around picking stuff. He also looks really grumpy if you look at him, like you are going to bother him, which we don’t as we just don’t care.

MaChienEstUnDick · 10/05/2022 09:38

I will balance my Nick the Prick comments by saying that I've never heard a bad word about Judy Murray and I know a lot of people who live in her home town and love a gossip.

David Hasslehoff is also adorable.

CounsellorTroi · 10/05/2022 09:40

I’ve met George Takei, Marina Sirtis, Garrett Wang and John Billingsley at Star Trek convention, they were all really nice.

Yahyahs22 · 10/05/2022 09:43

Holly Willoughby. I watched her live on a panel show, she was so smiley and sweet when the cameras were rolling and emotionless and rude when they weren't. She didn't acknowledge the crowd at all, (Bradley Walsh did and thanked us all for waiting in the rain). She only cared about her make up and didn't say one word to anyone even the other guests. She seemed so up herself and I was so surprised because she seems so sweet on camera.

My mother-in-law was in a coffee shop with her sisters when she saw a man she thought she knew at another table. She told her sisters she was just going to pop over and say hi. Over she went, tapped him on the shoulder and said “hi how are you, I haven’t seen you in ages” & she gave him a big hug. They chatted for awhile, he was extremely friendly, really nice, appeared to know her very well also. She then said goodbye & went back to her sisters again. Her sisters were looking at her in shock and she couldn’t understand why. Turns out it wasn’t someone she knew, it was Brendan Gleeson ! She had no idea. She ended up going back to his table to apologise to him but he was so kind and friendly and he told her not to worry about it at all sure didn’t they have a lovely chat. :)

That's a lovely story. He used to be a teacher. I bet the kids loved him. The critic Joe Queenan once said ' All those movies where Brendan Gleeson is the hero's best buddy would be so much better if Gleeson was just the hero.'

Without wishing to be a name dropper - because I work in entertainment I've met loads some people who are fantastic with fans are two faced arses in real life and the reverse is true. some of the nicest people I know including some names on here aren't that great with fans - if you got pestered and hassled as much as some people do or someone catches you at the wrong moment then it's easy to come across as an arse. I'm sure some would say I was too.

This. Similar background and this is accurate.

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 09:46

MaChienEstUnDick · 10/05/2022 09:35

It really doesn't, he was the most sexist, dismissive, annoying and disrespectful toady of a person I've ever had the displeasure of working with, but you do you.

And you're someone who insults people due to their height and hair colour. Height is stupid enough, as no one can change their height, but ginger-haired people have to endure name-calling, bullying and even unprovoked assaults due to to idiotic prejudices like yours.

But yes, 'you do you'.

That was my first thought.

I hadn’t realised, and wouldn’t know Mark Wright’s mum if I fell over her. Does she count as a celebrity in her own right?

I wouldn't know Mark Wright let alone his mother. Guess I need to google him.
