Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

1015 replies

bobbingalongside · 09/05/2022 19:27

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Also, DH and I met David Tennant once, he was filming something (Broadchurch? I don’t watch it) in West Bay. We thought the film crew etc was a coffee van and strolled over, everyone laughed at us, we didn’t make a fuss or anything just kind of said Oh Hello when we realised. I was very pregnant at the time, as was his wife apparently, so we chatted a little about that, he was nice.

Justin Fletcher. The only one of the Cbeebies stars who made no effort to interact with the kids who were meet and greet prize winners. Just posed for a photo and turned away to talk to a member of the production team. Every other presenter was genuinely lovely with the kids.

cafedesreves · 09/05/2022 22:47

Claudia Winkleman was so nice!!

viques · 09/05/2022 22:47

Oona King, former MP , now a baroness in the Lords, was at the circus with her family. They were sitting behind us ( in cheaper seats) . She moved her party down to empty ( expensive) seats closer to the action, but was spotted doing so by the ushers and told to move back. Never met her, but I thought it said a lot about her , and not in a good way.

This may go down like a lead balloon, but Caroline Flack was a brat...

Just because she commited suicide doesnt mean she was a nice person

same as everyone else

Martin Lewis
Proper up himself

You see, once he helped my friend in an airport when she had a broken leg and was struggling with bag and crutches. So i thought he must be nice (unless it was performance chivalry)

pigalow27 · 09/05/2022 22:49

My daughter met Katya and AJ Pritchard from Strictly and they were both very chatty and happy to have selfies taken. I went to school with Claudia Winkleman and she was as hilarious then as now.

newnamethanks · 09/05/2022 22:49

Ainsley? Really? Never heard that before.

To be fair to DT, some of his fans are complete nutters. A family member works in a theatre he performed at, and they had a whole strategy in place for dealing with what sounded like some extremely unbalanced individuals.

I can believe that. David Tennant had to have therapy because he couldn’t cope with the fame after landing the role of the Doctor in Dr Who: www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-david-tennant-fame/

I’m going to have to stop reading now in case someone comes on saying Mr.Tumbles and Keith from the Pottery Throw Down are right bastards.

@3luckystars Yes, I mentioned Justin Fletcher above!! But Keith lives near me and is genuinely lovely!

TheVanguardSix · 09/05/2022 22:51

Julian Lennon. A really unpleasant man.

Lindisfarne1 · 09/05/2022 22:51

whynotwhatknot · 09/05/2022 22:52

Some my df met in the sixties

bruce forsyth was rude to him when he ran a menwear shop
also tommy cooper but was probably pissed

my dh has just said ian rush is the nicest man hes ever met

unlike ricky tomlinson who my dh says was absuive to his dc (was friends with dc)

Louise0701 · 09/05/2022 22:53

@Iconcur sadly, that doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. It pisses me off how he is hero worshipped and fawned over when he is such a horrible person.
I’m sorry that happened to your sister.

Herejustforthisone · 09/05/2022 22:53

I don’t have any rude ones but James Norton was straight up the most delightful human ever. Absolutely lovely and kind and Jesus wept, so hot.

beachcomber70 · 09/05/2022 22:53

Mary Berry was vile to someone I knew at a book signing. Not the sweet lady people thinks she is.

Paul Jones [lead singer, Manfred Mann, makes a lot of being a 'Christian' ] spat in a fans face when she asked for an autograph as he came out of the dressing room at a local dance hall.

The drill was always that fans waited outside after the performance, had done for years. There was another door out of the building if he had wanted to avoid people. Idiot.

It worked though. No one wanted to go near him after that, it was appalling.

Sheilaroundthefountain · 09/05/2022 22:53

Elvis Costello was very grumpy

however I found Mark Lamar lovely

IcedPurple · 09/05/2022 22:54

Positive adjectives other than 'lovely' are available.

WeasilyPleased · 09/05/2022 22:54

Joan Collins. Vile.

TheVanguardSix · 09/05/2022 22:56

Oh I worked with Keith yonks ago. He was very nice! Not lovely or warm and fuzzy but a decent bloke. Nice… a bit cut and dry in a friendly, ‘I do what I say on the tin’ sort of way. Did a photo shoot with him and I loved two mugs of his which I was hoping he’d offer me as a kind gesture for being such an amazing model! 😁
He didn’t. But I did buy them off of him and they’re still in my mum’s kitchen 20+ years later, living the dream in California. I’ll post the photo!

Ambertonix · 09/05/2022 22:58

Im sure not many on here will believe me but Owen Jones is a complete sweetheart. He also, contrary to popular belief, has many female friends who he is fiercely loyal to.

stopwaitingforpermissiontobeyou · 09/05/2022 23:00

@NamechangeFML @whynotwhatknot

disgusting posts from both of you.

Have we learned nothing?!

James corden is awful, and I mean awful!

I was waiting for his name to crop up

I've seen two threads like this on Reddit and many, many people said that he's an absolute twat

TheFoldOx · 09/05/2022 23:01

Important to note that these were impressions based on single incidents:
Rufus Hound: rude and aggressive to a train guard who pointed out that his ticket wasn't valid.
Alex James from Blur: friendly and welcoming to my colleague, who'd followed him round the Royal Show desperate for a photo.
Brian Moore (rugby): as verbose as he is on TV, keen to make his point but also happy to stop and talk, and sign an autograph.
Mike Gatting: miserable sod!
Lawrence Dallaglio: most interested in Lawrence Dallaglio.
Tom Shanklin: utterly down to earth, you'd have no idea he was an international rugby player.
Stephen Gately: quite, unassuming, almost shy.

Not sure they count as celebrities, but I've had a fair bit to do with numerous politicians. Most are actually decent people, and party makes no difference to this. The most polite and pleasant I ever dealt with was Hilary Benn.
