Most unpleasant celeb you've ever met?

1015 replies

bobbingalongside · 09/05/2022 19:27

I met a well known mum of a celebrity today. I was offering to give her a hand as she had dropped some shopping on the way to her car.

She shouted 'Don't touch! It's fruit Confused' I said oh sorry, thought you needed a hand there. She said no, just don't touch. I'm fine.

I was shocked and walked off.

Have you ever met a celebrity that's been rude? Or sounded rude even if they weren't actually speaking to you?

Paul McCartney.
Wanker.

He patted my niece on the head once. She was about six. They shaved her hair off and sold it on eBay.

( no they didn’t viques, stop over egging the pudding)

If only there was a way to find out who a person is once you have their name.

You know I’ve never heard of this woman (Carol Wright) but it hasn’t really impacted on my understanding of the thread. She’s obviously some form of celebrity that op recognised - that is clear from the op. These posters jumping in to say ‘who is that? I’ve never heard of her’ are just of the mumsnet variety of ‘who is that? I don’t watch trash tv so I wouldn’t know.’ It doesn’t make you look clever or anything, it makes you look like you struggle with reading comprehension or don’t have the basic skills a 7 or 8 year old would have to be able to simply go to Google and type a name in, then read the responses that brings up.

Agreed.

Mark Wright is a 30 odd year old millionaire - I'm sure hes crying himself to sleep about MN's view on him!

whataboutbob · 09/05/2022 22:11

This is quite old news but there was a well known hip model in the 80s/90s called Sarah Stockbridge. She was Vivienne Westwoods house model. Had the misfortune to sit at a table next to her in a club, she played the alpha female role to a T, taking the piss out of other women’s appearance, talking really loudly, bumming cigarettes and drinks off people etc. Toxic queen bee.

Jim Davidson without a doubt. He behaved in the most obnoxious manner- reduced a staff member to tears.

Kim Woodburn, again, not pleasant to be around, her tone was brusque and condescending.

Through my old job I met quite a few celebs & the majority keep their heads down & were really very discreet.

My favourite ever celeb was Noddy Holder, he was fantastic fun and exactly as you would expect. Pink a close second she was the opposite to how you would expect - quiet, friendly -very low profile.

Jim is a sexist, homophobic racist wee wally, so I'm not surprised.

Kim - that brings back memories from her go on CBB!

not me but two people I know (unrelated, never met each other) have both had interactions (one in person, one over telephone) with Warwick Davies. He was very rude to both.

I have had an unpleasant experience with Warwick Davis too 😡 I won’t go into details but I was 17 (looked younger to be honest) and he was behaving like a dirty old man

I have no idea who Carol Wright is but I used to work with a woman with the same name who was pretty awful. Don’t think they could be the same person though.
Camilla Parker-Bowles, ignorant, rude.
Mark Kermode, thinks he’s a lot more than he is.

I picked up Mark Kermodes wallet after he dropped it in a restaurant and he was polite and thanked me.

Allthepettythings · 09/05/2022 22:13

Blonde morning tv presenter…so so awful, really shocked as loved her on tv and still can’t understand her true self compared to the one I met. Met her twice for work, although she wasn’t at work, a friend of a person I worked for (they were lovely)
she was mean! Real school bitch type, very intimidating and just quite odd, v pretty. I was so disappointed.

Melanie Sykes also rude

Davina McCall-so lovely and down to earth

Darren somebody (tv presenter, forgotten name) was awful too

Allthepettythings · 09/05/2022 22:13

*Cant understand her TV self compared to the person I met

I met ross kemp in a pub, asked for a selfie then he kept checking them until we got a flattering one (of him) then made sure I deleted the rest...

To be fair I'd probably do the same

Frankie Dettori. I was 14 and was holding out my pen and autograph book when he came into the paddock at Pontefract racecourse. He took both, signed my book but took my pen with him. This was a Disney world pen. It had Mickey Mouse ears. It was MY pen. He carried on signing other peoples books, closely followed by me shouting "Mr Dettori! My pen! I need my pen". He looked at me with a vicious look and said "just a minute, it's only a f**king pen!" So I backed off, expecting he would hand me the pen when he was done...but he didn't. He went inside into an area I couldn't go in. As a very young 14 yo, I was gutted. Yes, it was just a pen, but my parents would never be able to afford to go to Disney again to get me another. I've never been as an adult. I miss that pen.

Aw I dislike him on your behalf now. I hope he reads this thread and miraculously replaces your Disney pen!

PomRuns · 09/05/2022 22:14

Gary Linkekar is lovely and so nice with other people, met him a few times.

My mother-in-law was in a coffee shop with her sisters when she saw a man she thought she knew at another table. She told her sisters she was just going to pop over and say hi. Over she went, tapped him on the shoulder and said “hi how are you, I haven’t seen you in ages” & she gave him a big hug. They chatted for awhile, he was extremely friendly, really nice, appeared to know her very well also. She then said goodbye & went back to her sisters again. Her sisters were looking at her in shock and she couldn’t understand why. Turns out it wasn’t someone she knew, it was Brendan Gleeson ! She had no idea. She ended up going back to his table to apologise to him but he was so kind and friendly and he told her not to worry about it at all sure didn’t they have a lovely chat. :)

ha ha! my mother did the same to helen baxendale in that coffee shop at Kempton Lodge in richmond park. HB was with a friend minding her own business and my mother turns round and says hello like she knew her, but my mother was assuming I KNEW HER and that she knew her through me, if that makes sense. I was sitting there paralysed. HB shut the convo down but not abruptly. Very politely. I know what a loud voice my mother has so I didn't tell her til we got outside.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 09/05/2022 22:15

At a Rocky Horror Picture Show event I met Patricia Quinn. She snapped at me while we were having our picture taken (which I paid for, not just randomly trying to get a pic). My son still thinks its great that I got yelled at by "Magenta". On the opposite end though Nell Campbell (Columbia) was the absolute sweetest person I've ever met.

ChloeHel · 09/05/2022 22:16

Oh I am surprised about James Martin! He was on a cruise with about 6 or 7 other celebrities and he was the only one that would mix with the passengers in the lounges and bars! All the others would refuse to be seen. He came across as really down to earth and nice, as he does on his shows.

Planker · 09/05/2022 22:16

I love these threads .

Not sure I have even met a celeb so can't join in.

LeniGray · 09/05/2022 22:17

The woman who plays (or played: I haven’t seen it in years) Tracy Barlow as an adult in Corrie. She came in to my workplace, had me running around doing her bidding while she had her tongue down her fella’s throat. I didn’t mind the ‘doing her bidding’ bit so much - it’s part of my job, but she was thoroughly condescending to me, and the snogging and groping wasn’t appropriate for the setting. She was clearly loving the attention of others looking at her. I was however, unimpressed by her minor celebrity status and showed her no recognition whatsoever 🙄

Backtoblack1 · 09/05/2022 22:18

I liked Nick Knowles when I met him

Perpop · 09/05/2022 22:18

Lucy Watson at a charity dinner, incredibly rude.

Ktay · 09/05/2022 22:18

Jane Horrocks shoved my then-7yo out of the way when she was taking a split second too long to get through a turnstile at the station

Crikeyalmighty · 09/05/2022 22:20

And as someone said above I found Bob Geldof very charming and genuine Roland his family are cracking!!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/05/2022 20:11

TBF I do this, such is my camera phobia. I am not famous Grin

I know, this made me laugh, I couldn't hate on him for this! Have said the same to my friends.

Watermill · 09/05/2022 22:24

I have met A LOT of celebrities through work. No idea who Carol Wright is though.

Anyway, overall I would say the rudest was Imran Khan (cricketer and former prime Minister of Pakistan) He was so rude it was actually funny.

Jenny Seagrove was spectacularly unable to read a room in a "let them eat cake" way. She didn't seem to be aware of how privileged she was (living with Michael Winner at the time.) I wonder now if she may have ASD.

Wendy Richard - really rude in a "don't you know who I am" way. Unlike her colleague June Brown who couldn't have been more friendly.

Favourites were Al Pacino - the most funny, self deprecating, charming man. Bob Geldof also lovely - thoughtful and interested in others.
