I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 217 guesses with an accuracy of 33.64%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Today was, a Google day, not a word I have come across. Took me ages to even get on the right track for some reason. There is someone on reddit (think it might be a group) that take it as a challenge to get it in one every dayShock. Some people are so competitive about random things haha.

WheelofLife · 13/05/2022 23:12

195 guesses, final google, and 39.49 accuracy. I didn’t know the word and would have been there all day

luciatrope · 13/05/2022 23:13

Aww, I'd love Steps songs. My record is Meryl Streep for 6, which I feel shows off my kind of highly specialist knowledge level, haha

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 365 guesses with an accuracy of 43.01%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was hard - I got what the topic more or less was, but narrowing down to the right term was difficult (because I knew there was a word for something (subject-like in a few specific ways I won't go in to now) but I was damned if it came to mind - I had to break off and let it percolate up in its own time.

I really enjoyed 'foam' - it took me 897 guesses, but it was a really satisfying one. i was down a bit of a science-y silo for ages! Then tried 'beer' to fit the 'head of' bit in the first paragraph, and suddenly I was there. Love a denouement like that!

EatSleepReplete · 13/05/2022 23:26

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 149 guesses with an accuracy of 51.68%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I got on the right lines pretty quickly but it took me absolutely ages to nail it down. DH had to help me in the end, I'd never heard it before.

How could you ever get it in one?

(Although, someone here did get Meryl Streep in two).

VivienneDelacroix · 14/05/2022 01:25

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 51 guesses with an accuracy of 41.18%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Yeah, I can't understand how anyone could get them in 1.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/05/2022 06:49

I suppose you could 'get it in one' if you didn't actually fill in your guesses on the screen but worked out possibilities (being very careful with word length) , and did searches of wiki for those to see if they existed. I can see how that might have worked for 'Singapore' - I was pretty sure of my preceding guesses (country, Asia, island),

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 06:56

That seems to cross the line of cheating. Essentially "guessing" on another version of the document then matching it to Wiki pages. What's the point? Who have they "beaten" by getting it in one? They're essentially only playing against themselves.

DressingGownofDoom · 14/05/2022 08:45

Oh yeah the foam one, was anyone else googling things like 'chemical structure of bubbles' 🤣🤣

Coord · 14/05/2022 09:06

Everyone aims to get it one don't they? If I think I have a sense of it I'll put it in as the first guess. I wouldn't be googling etc though. I got Meryl Streep in 2 guesses, but that's because it had 'Out of -' and I'm old enough for my mind to fill in the gap of the film 'Out of Africa'.

Redcrayons · 14/05/2022 12:01

170 guesses in and I still don’t really know what the topic is. I don’t even seem to have enough to start googling either.

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 12:16

@Redcrayons the word "not" in the first paragraph helped me rule out a lot of things.

Redcrayons · 14/05/2022 12:21

I’ve got that word, but It’s still not clicking for me.

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 12:16

@Redcrayons the word "not" in the first paragraph helped me rule out a lot of things.

The trouble is, for most people (including me), that word "not" might as well be followed by "anything you've ever heard of, ignorant human". 😂

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/05/2022 12:27

I think I would have got this one quicker if I had thought to use the singular form of a key word not just the plural one, part of the "not a" statement

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 12:41

I also would have saved about 100 guesses by using the singular forms of the not things in the first paragraph.
Once I'd ruled out most of the things that exist, it was fairly straightforward to search through what remained.
I still don't know what the actual answer means, despite reading the unredacted article a few times.

Cooroo · 14/05/2022 13:17

Thank you Google. I found out what it wasn't but would not have been able to take the next step without asking.

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 312 guesses with an accuracy of 37.18%.

Redcrayons · 14/05/2022 13:19

Possibly my worst yet (I somehow deleted my stats a few days ago).

All the googling.

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 320 guesses with an accuracy of 40.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

WhatICallMyUsername · 14/05/2022 13:30

I started yesterdays but looking at these posts I think I'll just abandon it. CBA Googling stuff

PollyannaWhittier · 14/05/2022 14:09

I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 5 guesses with an accuracy of 100.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

😯😀

I think perhaps I should quit now while I'm ahead, I'm never going to beat that !!!

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 14:17

@PollyannaWhittier that's a very niche knowledge base! Of all the things that are and have been, what thought process led you there within 5 (all correct) guesses?
Obviously answer after 5 when we're onto the new one.

wannabebetterwatchout · 14/05/2022 14:55

After getting the full first paragraph pretty quickly I had to google and good job as I've never heard of it! Not my strong subject! I solved today's Redactle (#37) in 9 guesses with an accuracy of 55.56%. Played at www.redactle.com/

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 14:56

How did you fill the first paragraph with 9 guesses?

AlisonDonut · 14/05/2022 15:10

InMySpareTime · 14/05/2022 12:16

@Redcrayons the word "not" in the first paragraph helped me rule out a lot of things.

Yes when i put my other three usual first words in it became much easier!
