Found you! Thanks OP.

Thanks for linking on the old thread, it said it wasn't accepting new posts.

I really didn't think we would need a new thread so quickly!

I've started doing it on my iPad rather than my phone to get a better view.

NamelessWalls · 02/05/2022 09:52

Congratulations, you solved Redactle #25!
The answer was:
You solved it in 71 guesses
Your accuracy was 53.52%

Not bad today 🙂

I've started doing it on my iPad rather than my phone to get a better view.

I don't think I could do it on my phone! All the scrolling up and down on the laptop is bad enough.

But discovering that if you click on your guess word, on the righthand side panel, it takes you to each occurrence of that word, has made it easier.

user1471561661 · 02/05/2022 10:20

I solved today's Redactle (#25) in 22 guesses with an accuracy of 36.36%. Played at www.redactle.com/ annoyed as I left plurals on and this was my best attempt so far.

It’s the same on the phone - click on a correctly guessed word and it takes you to every instance of that word in the text.

@Kimonolady nine — that’s amazing, well
done!

I did it on desktop yesterday and I’m on my phone now so can’t do the official copy/share, but it was 70-something for me. Already impatient for 5 pm.

iklboo · 02/05/2022 14:55

Thank you for the new thread!

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 42 guesses with an accuracy of 64.29%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Getting the hang of it now... maybe...

Coord · 02/05/2022 17:16

Hmmm I'm 19 guesses in and am either going to get it very shortly or it will be one of those I just don't know and will end up googling after 100s of guesses.

User12398712 · 02/05/2022 17:16

Now we're on a new day, I'll share my 5 guesses for Lagos.

Looking at the format of the entry, I immediately thought that it might be a place. My guesses were:

  1. Country - not especially helpful but did seem to confirm I was looking for a place.

  2. City - pings all over the place. I was pretty sure I was looking for the name of a city now.

  3. Capital - obvious next step after city and lots of hits on city and capital in the first paragraph.

  4. Africa - Looking at the first paragraph there were lots of [redacted] capital city and my brain was trying to fill in the gaps. I thought possibly "former capital city" and the first thing that sprang to mind was Lagos. I knew there were lots of possibilities though so tried Africa to narrow it down. Lots more pings.

  5. Lagos - I was now sure of Africa and (possibly former) capital city and the length looked about right so decided to go for it.

I think there was a perfect storm of luck, logic and good general geographical knowledge. I doubt I'll ever repeat that score!

I'm quite pleased with today's aswell:

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 31 guesses with an accuracy of 70.97%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Bloody hell that’s impressive.

I’m struggling with today’s one...

Featuredcreature · 02/05/2022 17:49

Had to Google the general subject because I would never have guessed. 90 guesses, quite enjoyable.

VivienneDelacroix · 02/05/2022 17:53

I quite liked today's. Not too easy, but quite straightforward. Nothing crazy or niche!
I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 96 guesses with an accuracy of 61.46%. Played at www.redactle.com/

drwitch · 02/05/2022 17:57

Got it! - found this quite satisfying

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2022 18:00

I liked todays, no googling - except I tried everything except the right one first I think

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 39 guesses with an accuracy of 74.36%. Played at www.redactle.com/

VivienneDelacroix · 02/05/2022 18:01

I don't really "get" googling - especially Wiki search! Surely that's a test of your search engine skills, not your knowledge, which is what this is.
For example, for Lagos, if I had figured out it was an African city, but didn't know many googling "large city Africa" would give a list to work through. But that doesn't mean you "got it" just that you looked it up.
I do these -le quizzes for the challenge and the satisfaction, I personally wouldn't feel the same satisfaction if I googled. I'd rather have 458 guesses (which I did recently with one!).

It's also why I do this at 5pm, and Semantle at 1am - to avoid all spoilers, hints, etc floating around the Internet!

ApolloandDaphne · 02/05/2022 18:02

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 66 guesses with an accuracy of 80.30%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was fun.

MrsElm · 02/05/2022 18:08

Got it, finally, in 183 guesses.

Even with extensive use of Google, that was very hard indeed!

Personally, I think it's a test of my ability to find out what the article is about and, given that I don't possess the whole sum of human knowledge in my head, sometimes I am going to need google. Taking your example of Lagos, it would be perfectly possible to get to the point of having filled enough gaps to know that the article was about the former capital of Nigeria but plenty of people simply don't have that knowledge in their head and that's the point at which I personally would google. Some people play it more as a detective game and any tactics allowed including getting a sufficiently long phrase to google as soon as possible. It's fine to play it however you want.

Same. I’d rather get it in 560 by myself than 39 and Googling, what’s the point?

Neolara · 02/05/2022 18:10

I'm very impressed by people getting today's so quickly. Something I knew nothing about.at all. No way I could have got it without Google.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 02/05/2022 18:11

For a long while I thought yesterday's was about football. I had even worked out the exact name of the football league in that particular country... and I did use Google then to find the country, and its capital...

As we concluded in the last thread... we all play differently and there is no right or wrong way since we are only playing against ourselves. I needed a calculator today in Mathler... some might see that as cheating but ilI could have taken a lot longer and got it with pen and paper.... I still had to work out the form of the calculation.

Coralblimey · 02/05/2022 18:11

Group effort today as DC blurted out the answer after I’d given them a pointer, it would have taken me much longer to have got there by myself 🙄

I solved today's Redactle (#26) in 6 guesses with an accuracy of 66.67%. Played at www.redactle.com/
